Fact check: Edwin Evers was in 3rd going into day 3 so I got that wrong lol.
Great tournament on Smith. I’ve lived in Birmingham for 15 years and I’ve never been fishing for spots at Smith, I’ve been on several striper trips. We go super early under the green lights with giant shad. Anyway, after watching y’all put on a clinic I want to bring my 8 yr old son fishing to catch numbers of spots. He can fish moving baits but I need to teach him to fish a shaky head and set the hook.
Kyle, that day after Wheeler video is way above average stuff on RUclips. One reason why your going to be there long term. Thanks
I really hope we get to see a video of that Guntersville trip yall kept talking about
@KGPFISHING They say the rookies can't catch fish without FFS. What a joke! You are and will be a Hammer! You gained a new fan. Anyone that fact checks themselves will go places!
@KGPFishing - Randy Howell came from 11th and beat Edwin Evers in 2014 - maybe that's what you were thinking
Out of all the Rookies this year , Kyle has become my favorite that I’ve followed and have heard other veterans say on podcasts that he’s so respectful. His integrity speaks volumes these days in terms of the rules . I’ve enjoyed his RUclips channel showcasing his sense of humor as well . Great podcast , one of my favorite Bilge guests ! Keep up the great work and not being afraid of talking about hot button subjects that pros are talking about behind the scenes .
First time I met Kyle, I could see his passion for this sport was unmatched. Kyle will be a pro for many years to come. Proud to call him my friend.
I love the last point he made about respecting your elders! That guy who said "well, good for you" to Gerald Swindle should take notes.
Gerald was being extremely childish approaching him while he was being interviewed.
Age has nothing to do with respect. It is earned. And gman has done some stupid stuff. Like when he opens his mouth and disrespects people. Every time he’s on stage.
Two things should be abundantly clear..
1. After the events of Smith Lake, it is evident that drama and "shady" behavior seems to be following a couple of rookies
2. You can hate on Trait all you want to, but people that are devoted to transparency and truth in a sport that has mastered the art of "swept under the rug" should be celebrated and nor attacked!!
God Bless you Team Zaldain!! Great podcast and Kyle Patrick seems really genuine
The loaded swimmer is the JAM!!
Really don’t think what happened with Trey is shady behavior. It’s a kid with a helicopter mom who doesn’t know the rules. His fishing skills grew so fast he has 0 adultultinf skills lmao. That’s how I see it at least
@@FindingAdventure I hope you are right, because he is talented as an angler, but his career has a significant stain on it for several different reasons, some of which are his own fault, and also because he catches em. Time will tell, but where there is smoke, there is usually fire.
@@johnmango6056 yes it has...Taku ito won
@@johnmango6056 was there a rerun on this weekend?
Trait isn’t going to bring something up that doesn’t have some truth to it. People can get mad but it’s true. And yes, certain rookies have drama surrounding them and Kyle isn’t one of them.
Enjoyed that interview. Young man seems like he’s got a good head on his shoulders. Will be following him from here on out.
I was already a fan of Kyle but he really has a great head on his shoulders and seems to be raised right. Mad respect for his closing thoughts.
What a nice guy, hope he does well. We need more of the young guys to have his demeanor. Good luck Kyle! 🙌
Great interview. Something to try is a fan round table. Very tournament knowledgeable and heavily vetted fans who can speak without worry of retribution from the pro circuits or their sponsors.
Last 1 minute about being humble and respect towards those tjat have been there before you goes along way… good things will come your way. … Kyle Patrick … you are my new #1 .
I agree with Trait about all boats having coverage
this is the Kyle Patrick interview i was expecting and I'm stoked for it. dude keeps it 20/20
I truly think the in person meetings should resume at every tournament. It would solve a lot of the issues around communication.
Agreed, but some will still mess up somehow. Human nature.
Well spoken and a great rep for BASS and himself....
Kyle was a great guest and was a awesome show. Thanks Chris and Trait.
Dropping it on his birthday too! Stoked for this one!
Agree with his outlook. & those new Yamaha pro fishing hats are sick
legal and ethical are two different things.
Great podcast! I saw an angler's truck at ur camp after Smith, hoping he's on the next one. Keep it up guys!
Great podcast, Chris & Trait! Kyle is a great young fisherman.
This is why he’s my favorite rookie this year by far. I hope he pulls off the ROY in these last two events. Keep killing it guys and Kyle
Great Podcast
What a pod this will be 😊☝️
Kyle’s easy to hold a conversation with!
Kyle is fantastic fisherman and his social media is really fun
Great guest and conversation/discussion/information & ideas to improve BASS. Please ask your question & let the guest answer it! Quit helping him/her answer it & interrupting with another question before finished answering or inputting where you want him/her to go.
Smith mountain lake doesn’t have spotted bass. Kerr reservoir has spotted bass, where KP fished the open last year, and it has some good ones growing in it.
As a fan born and raised in las vegas , I'm liking Traits idea of coming to the west coast. Would love to see the elites on Lake Mead . My family and I went to the Havasu event and it was great but lake mead is tuff and a different animal
You and Trait should sit on one side with the guest on the other. It's tiring whatching him moving his head trying to address both of you. And it moves him away from the mic.
A true first world problem right there.
@@jacobcollins5827 not a problem, just a suggestion. It's annoying to watch. I'm sure it would be more comfortable for the guest as well.
I was thinkn the same thing lol
If you saw the “set” in person, it would make sense why it has to be that way. Short version, guest has to be on the velvet background and that background wouldn’t work anywhere else
Idk what your relationship with Hunter shryok is like but id love to see that guy on the podcast. He has a very interesting story from being a professional motor cross rider to deciding to become a pro bass fisherman and getting on the elites. He also one of the OG’s when it comes to putting high quality tournament footage on RUclips I still say to this day that his 27 series documenting his entire journey through the opens is one of the best RUclips series ever created.
Great show. Great kid. I am a new fan.
So how do you fix the no information rule? Put a statement in that states "During off limits you cannot get information on any body of water that has any part of it's waterway closer than 150 miles"?
Always enjoy the podcast. the anglers are competing against each other. They are gonna do everything they can to get the advantage. That’s a given, It’s is up to the organization to make the rules so cut and dry that it leaves no room for private interpretation.
I like how honest Kyle was.
Have a case book to go along with the rule book to explain the “spirit” of the rule. Baseball has one. 1 rule can cover more than one situation and the spirit of the rule should be considered
There used to be a rule in every bass tournament back in the day that read...No info from anyone outside the people fishing the tournament..then if anyone was heard about getting info they was called in to take a polygraph and that specific question was asked. Still.keep the rule of no info from time it is announced but add this in there
Good pod , I enjoyed it. While Kyle was a great choice in guests, it would be nice to see one of the “ I won’t call their name’s “ rookies on and really get to the nut cutting !
Agree with the guest that when you make rules about getting and sharing information you are giving an advantage to the people who don't want to follow the rules. The honest ones make sure to avoid acquiring it and the dishonest ones find ways to communicate without being traced or leaving a record. Bass fishing loves its technology but from my perspective technology takes away from the challenge of finding and figuring fish out. Is at as satisfying to catch 30 lbs on your live scope as it is to catch 30 with no electronics because you were really tuned in to what was going on and how to catch them. It's a lot easier to gain expert status at a video game (FIFA, Madden, Call of Duty) than it is to gain that status in the real world activities the game is representing. If I can watch how fish respond to my lure in real time I'll be able to find lures that are working a lot quicker. Great discussion.
If people want to exchange information secretly there are a lot more sophisticated ways than calling the St. Lawrence the Niagra River (See spy craft, coded messages and kites in prison) so how grey and easy this example is speaks to the wide playing field for people who want to push it.
Golf is a good example but golf has rules and etiquette deeply engrained in its culture. They might use speakers to pipe in birdsong at the masters but nobody is going to be coughing on someone's backswing.
Impressive guest. It's a nice window into the hustle of pro bass fishing.
really good interview and I agree with what Kyle is saying here. if the rules aren't written well enough that it is 100% clear what is and isn't legal then that's where the issue lies. When you leave anything up the interpretation (spirit of the law vs actual letter of the law) you are begging for trouble. I have worked with legal docs for over a decade and we have had 5 different parties interpret the same paragraph 5 different ways because it wasn't written properly.
Enjoy traits passion and this pod
KP is a stand up guy and he knows deep down what's right and moraly wrong. He has the proper mentality
Need to make it to where when the schedule comes out you cannot ask or receive any information about any body of water within a 100 mile radius of any of the places that are on the schedule. Easy fix. If you break that rule you are DQ’d from that event and cannot fish the next event.
If there’s so many rule issues in B.A.S.S then the anglers should petition for bass to hold a winter summit between Thanksgiving and Christmas for like 3 days where the anglers come together and bring their concerns and suggestions for rule changes and present it to B.A.S.S and try and come together for so form of unity. B.A.S.S need to conduct it like a meeting of the minds and mend some of the wounds the rules/the grey areas have created. And maybe they’ll eliminate some of the bad eggs from the elites or get everyone on the same page.
Isn’t this dude from Cooperstown??! And he’s a former soccer player??? 😂
Kyle is awesome.
I'm starting to be a fan of KP. I like this dude more an more.
Chris Hobart is on Seneca Lake !!!
Trait gets hated on but honestly she just wants the best for Chris as well as the other anglers...and she is not afraid to spill the tea on what’s going on behind closed doors. She is very business minded which is a huge weight off the shoulders for Chris. Allows him to focus on fishing and cashing checks. Chris is a badass rode with him on Toledo Bend one year and it was awesome!
Trait is an absolute Rock Star!
Why do these no longer go to Spotify or Apple Podcasts
Ironic point of fact..24 million Golfers. 60 million Anglers
53:38 damn! put him in deep thought!
I really wanna see Lisa Talmadge on the bilge that would be awesome cuz we know nothing about her and I bet she has some juice to share too
Rule book needs a major overhaul going into 25’. Trying to police the 24’ elites off the 06’ rule book isn’t working well.
I need these on spotify so I can hear that pretty voice at work 😂
Ott Defoe was live streaming his day without camera coverage. He just used his GoPros to post it on RUclips
Yea, I am not sure why more don’t do it, it seems like easy views to me. Set it, forget it, post what is filmed
@@ForesFishing it also lets you follow your favorite pro throughout the tournament.
I always thought that y’all had BASS best interest when you talk or tweet out stuff. Sometimes there is a good point and sometimes it’s not. The discussion is good though on them.
We need a documentary on Bass and MLF.. hear me out . Culminating in 5 separate 3 person teams from each side in a true world series 3 day event. Every year, both sides despise each other. The eyes you would get boggles the mind
Kyle was a great class interview! One take I have is if you want the sport to be more legitimized, FFS is not helping! I personally don't know how you can actually call it a sport.
I've been watching Bassmasters for about 15 years and it's become unwatchable.
Watching a four box of the top ten on Live this past Sunday, all with their heads staring down at a screen (not kidding) was ridiculous. I turned it off as fast as I turned it on. Technology isn't always bad, but FFS is on another scale. IMO it's ruining tournament fishing.
I wonder what Ray Scott would say
Kyle Patrick is very well spoken and sponsors would probably do well to get him to represent their product. Very wise young man. Great podcast
Bass should do a subscription service where you could sibscribe to that person or a group of anglers for a fee. A lot like the MLB package but for coverage on that angler. Give a portion to the angler and keep a portion as BASS
That would be a money maker!
Also put in the rules that the tournament director’s interpretation of the rules is the rule.
What a stand up guy! Came on, gave his opinion on how HE feels, but couldnt speak on anyone else.
Ed Loughran said it best in his interview, BASS should just pay him as a consultant. Regulations are up to interpretation and the enforcers are the ones who interpret it. There are rules based regulations which are rigid and then there are principle based regulations allowing flexibility. There are pros and cons with each.
My background is in accounting and law, in the United States we see more rule based regulations because our lawyers are so damn good at arguing. Internationally there are more principle based regulations. When US regulators write legislation, they do consider the intent of the rule and interpreters should also, but then should regulation stand the test of time or should it be continuously amended?
If you want principle based regulations then there is flexibility in both what is allowed and not allowed. The enforcers should issue their interpretation and what they state. There is a place for both types of regulations and the leagues should make that clear from the beginning.
Anyone who operates in the grey zone is fine so long as they can live with themselves and their reputation. Reputation like KP said stays with you.
The ultimate responsibility is on BASS to regulate and govern the sport. They either need to do a better job writing the rules to eliminate the grey areas or start handing out more harsh punishments for breaking the rules. Polygraphs need to be enforced and done for all winners and top 10 anglers and conducted but outside legitimate sources.
When I win the PowerBall, I'm going to buy Bassmaster and make Trait my head of rules and competition. I'm going to employ 3 lie detection agents so every angler is tested every tournament, before and after. The rules would be explained and interpreted before the season in a must be at meeting.
You have to hire Mark T from the polygraph episode! Top notch dude
The information rule is almost impossible to enforce. When you make that kind of money up, there is going to be problems. I Co-Angled with Roland Martin back in the 90s which he won that day. I was getting calls from Bass about potential rules violation for two weeks that other pros accused Roland of, All of witch were unture.
If Kyle smokes weed, we would be best friends
What is the point of the Marshals? Are they not there to help police the anglers?
A guy like Foutz could learn a lot from this guy.
KP is a badass
Hear me out...
Whats the potential for this to work?
B.A.S.S has two elite groups ... one west coast one east coast. The top 50 from each group qualify for the classic thats somewhere central US.
Doesn’t the Marshall police?!
Good one. This guy hopes the pro fishing sport will evolve but the more automation gadgets u all use, less skill separation and the skills are the skills on how to use the gadgets not fishing skill seperation.
Hear me out on this POV/GO pro in every boat (my buddies and I have talked about this for a few years now). The upfront cost would be a lot however recovery would be easy for the org.
Sell packages to the viewers, I know I would pay this vs having to have FS1 or whatever. Every angler not only has 1-2 hard wired go pros but also live internet feed in their boat (via hotspot or starlink) and then a hosted webpage which I could pay either as a whole or per angler. This helps with your arguments of selling yourselves too right? Make the interface interactive to alert you of a big catch or movement on the unofficial weights and put a delay on the feed so I can get over on the alert to the angler that made the catch. Give me good commentators on this feed too and make me want to pay a premium for this on all events.
If you can find a way to allow me to pay more to access their FFS feed I would hands down do that too.
smith mountain does not have spotted bass
Most of us unbeknownst to most of the Bass world,Fished for Largemouth, not Smallmouth!
1/2 entry fee west coast swing.
That’s baiting him to answer the “but it’s legal” question.
Pay per view!!! For certain anglers! I’d better than being a Marshall. I’d subscribe to watch Steve Kennedy all day and give the anglers a cut!!
Here we go again....
What happened to the pro circuits. Cant wr just ho fish with no info and see who the best is? Fising isnt a popularity contest and who can get the best info
Why don’t they switch cameras during the tournament like MLF does to catch up with the guys that are hammering them
They could hire local game wardens to help police the tournaments on the water
Smith mountain lake doesn't have spots in it alabama spots have ruined Kerr, Gaston, and claytor they currently have a 15 fish limit on spots with no length requirements if people start catching them at smith mtn they will probably cut there gills an throw them on the bank
Also philpott lake…
@elliotpilson6063 I know they are in there didn't think they destroyed it seems like the grass is balancing things well
You got to get Trey McKinney on the pod cast he kinda fishes like a young zaldangerous especially getting dq at smith lake and talk about swimbaits fishing ect.
Lol
What is the point of having marshals? I thought they were there to enforce the rules?
Being honest, it's kind of unrealistic to expect someone to be a big enough fan to spend their own money to ride in a pros boat for a weekend, and still be strict and knowledgeable about the rule book.
If you’re going to Chic then ya shouldn’t get info on any of the Tennessee river lakes nowhere up or down that river should be off limits
Just eliminate the no information rule.
Let’s the guy talk. Finish his thoughts! Trait I like u but u talk more than ur share
hartman and tony dorman. there
Who asked about the herring spawn on a lake above Murray?
Who you think?
Is he talking about Billy’s got a bass? Scott’s buddy I know he has a medical sales company
No different Billy. This is a Billy from NY . Fishes the opens ..
Trait can’t disconnect the rules from her emotions. Not agreeing doesn’t make it against the rules or a grey area.
This is the rule that’s being discussed and left up for interpretation. An angler called a local the Friday night before practice started on Monday but no locations were discussed:
“2024 qualified Elite anglers cannot gather waypoints or specific fishing locations i.e. creek, river, area of the lake, etc. from any source that is not publicly available. Anglers may participate in general discussions with fans and others about fishing, especially including boat shows, seminars and the like; however, they must not use such conversations to intentionally gain a competitive edge for fishing a future Elite event. To be safe in such situations, the angler should discontinue conversations that focus on specific locations or other information that might result in a competitive advantage.”
@@ZaldaingerousI do not disagree with her on this topic at all, I was commenting on in general. I can see both sides of the argument. There is no doubt she is extremely passionate about the sport and the ethics in which it is played. Passion can be a pro and a con sometimes. It can also blind us to actual issues. (Not saying she is) just from my own experience my passion for things doesn’t always help my decision making.
I think that she makes a great point in the cameras in all boats and there must be a way to do this and it not be a go broke for the tour. Fisherman governing their competition is a dangerous thing.
Im one of the biggest supporters of livescope and i dont watch bassmasters anymore. I dont think its livescope, its just boring watching another man fish.
Kyle Patrick has integrity is the reason he don’t go in the grey area of the rules. May not be illegal but knows it’s wrong, that’s integrity. Some of these dudes on the elite series don’t have integrity.
the issue is he then claimed he wasn’t mad about others doing it when by his logic he absolutely should be mad at them not just the rule makers
U don't own the water Zal !!!!!!!
Traits right about hurting the sport, none of my friends watch either circuit anynore and make jokes how they have become similar to wwe, male entertainment lol kyle is also right the perspective of the sport is on the decline, ramps in ny are banning tourneys now
What do you mean Ramps are banning tourneys in NY ??? Far as I know their are tourneys still going on in NY 😮
@@johnm2617 Ramps, did I say all ramps? Try hosting a tourney at Henderson harbor see how it goes for ya. Obviously you don't fish much in ny or you would know this. More town ramps are voting to ban tourneys at their ramps.
@@Theburningseason I only really fish cayuga and keuka & Otisco! But thanks for the info ! My buddy got a place at Henderson Harbor!
Simple fix. Do a rule video and make it mandatory to watch to compete and explain all the grey areas that are illegal.
Ok I know Trey is one of the rookies. I have guesses another is Miliken. Anyone feel strongly about the 2?
