To me it added some charm. Even though they knew they were going to have difficult times ahead they were living for the moment. Let's just rejoice and be happy now and live the dream.
@Rhyme& Reason. I know what you mean. I grew up in the country. We didn't have to travel as far as you did, but the stores weren't close either. I didn't live in the city until I was an adult. That was quite a change!
I was really shocked at how rude Adam was to that family. Right from the beginning when they stopped to help him he started acting like a jerk. The father tells him very politely he doesn't know the way to the Ponderosa and Adam very abruptly says Just get going, I'll show you the way. After they got to the house Adam was treating them more like servants who he expected to follow his orders rather than a kind family who had been caring enough to go out of their way and bring them all the way back to the ranch. He never even uttered any kind of appreciation or thankfulness to them until after they'd been there helping all day. Then he finally remembered some manners and offered them to stay the night. The father realized Adam's heavy sense of guilt and tried to help him feel better a few times but Adam just jumped all over him for trying to be helpful. Yes, I understand Adam was concerned about Joe, but that's no reason to be so rude to people trying their best to help in a bad situation.
The plot was a little dull hoping Little Joe would get better, especially since we all know nothing could ever happen to him, so they had to throw in a few guys demanding money to spruce up the action. But shooting up the house, breaking in and threatening to kill people got to be more than a little ridiculous just to collect 3 grand for some cattle. Hardly worth going to prison for destruction of private property, all the restitution, extortion, and attempted murder just to collect 3 grand they weren't even actually owed.
Not to excuse Adam and Ben's manners in this episode, but I thought their behavior was fairly typical of the way many people act in a stressful situation.
Breaking dem windows is gonna cost a pretty penny! I've been on a Bonanza kick for a week! What I never got was why three grown men are. Still living with their dad, and never married, especially Adam, being the oldest, college educated, sensitive, and devilish handsome!

@@whumpcookies That makes sense. I have4 autoimmune diseases that are so rare that NO doctor has been able to give me any prescription medications to treat them. Fortunately, a missionary couple came to my church and told me about an ALL natural medicine that I should try. It worked! It has a very special ingredient in it that the FDA and doctors refuse to admit can cure a lot of incurable diseases. That ingredient saved my sight and life in 2015 and it cured me completely from celiac disease. I'm using a different brand now that has that same ingredient in it. The medicine that I'm using now healed me quickly and completely from the COVID. It is recognized as a treatment for COVID in Florida. Again, it's completely natural. No, it isn't Ivermectin or Hydroxichloriquin. Anyone can take what I'm taking if you're not allergic to bovine milk. I have to rely on all natural medicines because I have been allergic to 100% of prescription medications that I have taken for various things since 1978 when I was 21 years old. Natural medications do work better than prescription drugs do. I know 2 people personally who had cancer very severely. They both avoided chemotherapy and radiation. Do you not realize the year these episodes were made!! Blood and guts weren't what people wanted to see like the Generation of this era, where they see brains, guts, everything bloody splattered everywhere. TV and movies were sensored back then. People didn't need to run around naked and call it talent either. Romance left something to the imagination, but not these days because the lazy generation has no iminagation . They think porn is love. These decent programs are something the family can watch. Older Westerns had good storylines, and they shot guns, like throwing the bullets out, not real, but entertainment! The Generation that grew up watching Bonanza, Ed Sullivan, The Nelson's( Ricky Nelson), Elvis, The Beatles, and great music, knew the Ten Commandments appreciated what we had. Half the kids had to earn the right to watch TV. The Generation that didn't complain or you'd get something to complain about. Oh! Just go watch a horror movie, or watch the Prince Harry and his Delilah ruin their life. Complain there.

In the ending...it broke my heart to see the dying father and daughter leaving and still singing.😥
To me it added some charm. Even though they knew they were going to have difficult times ahead they were living for the moment. Let's just rejoice and be happy now and live the dream.
Adam is smooth and so fine!!🥰
Funny how perceptions change... 20 miles was a long way to go back then. I live in the country and have to go that far for groceries.
Nowadays, people commute farther than that to work.
Same here, nearest shop is around 18miles im surrounded by hills, becks and forests I love it but sucks for a pint of milk 🤣
@Rhyme& Reason. I know what you mean. I grew up in the country. We didn't have to travel as far as you did, but the stores weren't close either. I didn't live in the city until I was an adult. That was quite a change!
Distance is relative. The difference is we have motorized vehicles. They had horses!
I agree, l thought exactly the same they were so kind and he treat them with contempt.
It's TRUE, that was rude
I dont like how Ben behaved too
Not to excuse Adam and Ben's manners in this episode, but I thought their behavior was fairly typical of the way many people act in a stressful situation.
10:15 You're in good hands when your doctor is a young Trapper John.
I like Adam he a great son and big brother to little Joe and hoss is to
This episode and War comes to Waspo is my favourite episodes
As Hoss is helping Little Joe off the wagon, he calls him “Mike”. It’s audible if you listen close.
Haha, yes!
@Calm Heart.... I heard it! "Come on Mike"
I heard it to, only a mutter but it's there.
Your absolutely right! Seems Hoss/Dan got Little Joe and Michael Landon mixed a bit 😆
I think they must have been very close maybe much like brothers
What a nerve shooting up the Ponderosa homestead.
Let's hear it for the German Shepherd playing the wolf!
That wasn't a German Shepherd . Learn your Dog Breeds
This episode pretty much sums up Pernell's feelings about the series
I was thinking along the same lines.
He should have left instead of staying for as long as he did, I'm sure he could have got of any contract
Yeah him shooting Joe!
@@ForgetMeNot2022It was 14 years before he got another significant part in a much less seminal network drama.
Breaking dem windows is gonna cost a pretty penny! I've been on a Bonanza kick for a week! What I never got was why three grown men are. Still living with their dad, and never married, especially Adam, being the oldest, college educated, sensitive, and devilish handsome!
There's a reason for that. The boys were always afraid the girls were after them just for their money. :)
the wolf looks like a dog !nice episode
Sólo puedo decir me encanta bonanza
People were kinder then. Being in the West was hard so people got kinder.
Poor little Joes gotta wait forever to get that medicine.
Lots more faith in chemicals that I have; why didn't they use what was around them in the meantime?
@@belbal5004 well willow bark would have been used for pain,
As for infection in 1800s would of been leeches and salves/potinces from quinine for infection,
Cinchona root was also crushed into a powder to fight fevers.
There's a lot out there that are still used today.
I was lucky and taught the "old ways" even have a medical book from 1800 handed down by family for illnesses that I use time to time.
@@whumpcookies I read that too.
@@lynettepalecek3141 I think it's handy to remember the 'old ways' technically there used even still in the medication we purchase today.
They both changed their diets and they both took herbal medicines. They both made full recoveries with no trace of cancer. They were both middle aged too.
Heavy stuff again but 👍👌👏.
Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this old series.
Best regards luck and health.
At least Trapper John was there to operate on Joe.

If you enjoyed this then you might also want to check out this classic western show: ruclips.net/video/TipnKbK_ffs/видео.html
A very good episode
Why would a wolf howl, knowing he had enemies on his tail?I would've thought he would've kept quiet. They are highly intelligent animals.
IDK; good question.
@Susan. I agree. The wolf would have been quiet.
Another learning episode.
What did we learn?
Acceptance of circumstance, in that the grass always seems greener and running away tempting, yet love of kinfolk holds us in place supporting what we've realized we always loved.
Maybe that could be allegorical if you expanded it? To want change and put down what you have is not always representative of what one really already has.
Lives of quiet desperation may not be as desperate as perceived.
@@belbal5004Beautifully stated!
Good story
Only one doctor in a hundred miles? Both Virginia City and Carson City were pretty good-sized towns by old west standards; you would think they would each have at least one doctor.
Great videos even has sound .
as good as this show is, it reminds us how the thinking sorta was and how the animals were almost hunted to exstinction
It still goes on today, with farmers and ranchers eliminating cougars, wolves, coyotes, bears for “stealing their stock”. Whadya gonna do?
This really should have been Adam's farewell episode. Parnell Roberts was ready to leave the series.
"As lovely as a rainy sunday."
these are great
Awesome 👌
I’m crying like a baby 😭😢 Hindsight is a mutha 😯
Lovely👍 👌👌❤❤❤❤😍🥰😘⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bonanza was not the same after Adam left the show. That special something was gone.
Bar trivia night. “What episode did Adam shoot little Joe.?” 😮🤦🏽♀️
I give up.
I was rooting for the wolf. He was gorgeous.
Get therapy
Shot and attacked by a wolf, but not a trace of blood in sight.
Gracias
🤠👌🎬🍿
At 7:54 who was standing there making that shadow, it must've been the blooper man again.
Alfred Hitchcock 😀
Good call. This type of thing wasn't as critical back then when viewers had no way to stop, replay, and examine so closely. It was gone for good in 1 sec. on TV.
The lady's father had Tuberculosis, an infection common among coal miners.
More likely " Black Lung," black lung is from coal dust, tuberculosis is a bacterial infection.
Black lung disease more likely.
Joe and Adam both rode in on horses.....where the heck is Cochise?? 😂
He was spooked and ran away. He was later returned to Hoss.
I loved the Irishman and his daughter. They were both so kind and so willing to go out of their way to help. I hated it when Adam was so sharp and abrupt and sometimes even mean 😢 to the father. 👨🏻🦳He would usually apologize and the father would say he understood and it was okay but the sting 🐝 would still have been there. 😢😢😢🥺🥺🥺
The hospitality of the Cartwrights were very aggressive
The Cartwrights were always excellent at showing the proper hospitality.
Bonanza ❤❤❤
Watch THE CRISOL, amazing performance of Pernell Roberts crying like a baby
Best actor Pernell
The Crucible...
its hilarious a gunshot in old west films etc 1)any women can pull the bullet out 2) hot water and 3) if the Cartwrights get shot the bullet always misses the heart by inches or the bullet made a clean pass laugh laugh
And.... That weird high pitch noise following the gun shots. What was that?
It made me long for them to have tweezers, ha.
@@SugarSugarCreek Coyotes make high pitched noises. I know because I live in a valley and I have heard coyotes quite often where I live.
If Adam had spoken to my father in that tone he wouldn't have used it a second time, the daughter should have pulled him up for his attitude
They put hair dye on a German Shepard to make a grey wolf.
24:55.Dowd talks to Hoss inside the store and adds up the damages to his wild horses and cattle to 1,000.00. Then later at 28:10 arriving at the Ponderosa with Little.Joes horse 🐴 the damages went up to 3,000.00. Mr. Dowd worked up a good anger 🤬 and got greedy on his ride to the Ponderosa.
The knife was not blood on it
Do you not realize the year these episodes were made!!
@@devong7124 Johan's comment can be taken as a statement of fact, not necessarily a complaint.
Your assessment rings true.
I'm glad for the lack of realistic visuals in the show. Imagination is a good thing.
@@devong7124 VERY well said! 👍💖
@@devong7124 Amen.
@@devong7124What does Prince Harry have to do with this? Your animosity is showing or maybe racism as well. He was not born when this show ran from 1959-1973.
