    Hi, Nice build. I'm an ex HC1 engineer (and been involved all the way to the Mk6) and I can see that Airfix have obviously cut a few corners and reused moulds from other variants (HC2 and later). As an example the 'wiring and pipes' at the rear of the cabin weren't visible on the HC1, there was a variety grey plastic cover panels over them that were a right nightmare to fit. These were removed from HC2 onwards so that hydraulic leaks could be easily identified. Similarly the rectangular panel on the right side (same area) is the 'maintenance panel,' that was introduced from the HC2 onwards. Another little bug bear I have with a lot of these kits is that the cabin seat back straps cover the cabin windows, this was (and still is) a big no-no as the cabin windows can be jettisoned in an emergency but the straps positioned there would then impede escape. Many of these things is just me being picky as I worked on them for years so have detailed knowledge that I appreciate the layman wouldn't be aware of. All in all excellent build from your perspective but Airfix could / should have made a few tweaks to the interior.

      Well knowing that the reason kit's cost me much is down to the cost of the molds this kit must be a bit cheaper as they've used some old ones! 😅 of coarse not that's why I stopped buying airfix years ago

      Having been a passenger on quite a few Chinooks, those quilting covers inside were a light green/blueish colour and always hanging off 😂

    • @modelheaven5471
      @modelheaven5471 9 дней назад +1

      Rotor drop is wrong as well for the HC1, rotors shouldn't bend along the length. Only at the joint. Makes you question the research for Airfix as most of their kits have accuracy issues. Fantastic finish though mate.

    • @millycarrington
      @millycarrington 8 дней назад +1

      @@modelheaven5471 HC1 originally came with metal blades which looked different at the root end (they were 'squared off), these were replaced with the current style composite blades fairly early on, they taper from the inboard trailing edge to the root (as per the ones fitted here). The composite ones are a bit more flexible and can have a bit of sag to them but I know what you mean as they do look slightly odd but that may be down to the rigidity of the plastic used in the kit.

    You have another winner there Luke. As with the SeaKing I hope in subsequent releases that they allow for US/Aussie variants. Also I hope Hannats if they don't, they should sponsor you. Finally I don't know how you do it , but the scripts for each build don't come across as repetitive or boring given the rate you are releasing videos.

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  9 дней назад +1

      Thank you sir! Me too - I’d love to do one of these in that olive drab colour. Hannants are the official sponsor of the channel so no need to worry! Glad to hear it doesn’t get repetitive, do let me know if it does👌🏻

    The Chinook is my favorite aircraft. I have built Trumpeters 1/35 CH-47A and that kit is massive. I had to hang it because I didn't have the shelf space. I think 1/72 is a perfect size kit for this aircraft, not too big and not too small. 1/48 would probably be okay, but still on the large side. At first, I couldn't comprehend the dusty rose color you were using, but in the end, yeah, it was a good choice! However, I would have left the triangles slightly more prominent. I think hairspray chipping parts of the triangles would have been my approach. I also think you did an appropriate amount of weathering. Many modelers love the weathering process so much that their end results are often unrealistic and overdone. In the end, you've got a lovely build of which you can be proud.

    • @machmodels

    The realistic sagging of those blades would be a breakthrough for chopper models

    • @memkiii
      @memkiii 8 дней назад

      The blades roots drooped from the hinge point a small amount, but the blades themselves hardly drooped/bent at all. I seem to recall that these composite blades were less droopy than the metal ones - but it was a long time ago....

    Neat! I have a photo of ZA707 EV at Mildenhall airshow in 1991, and shows it in a desert base colour streaked in a narrow hex dark green pattern and Black undersides. It has the air filters, so, abit different to yours. I guess there were many schemes around that time.

    So Hannants has moved to London now (sorry, but since the Brexit I wasn´t following it) Been to Lowestoft back in 1987.1988 when I was at TTTE Cottemore (GAF) a couple of times, Did I enjoy it? Still got modells that I bought there, Great built of the Chinook.

      So there’s actually two hannants! Lowestoft is still the warehouse and London is more of a shop! Great to hear you enjoyed it👌🏻

    What do you reckon are the minimum ventilation requirements i need to use an airbrush? i dont have any working vents or anything in my usual workspace, so could i get away with just using an open window or would it be safer to work outside?

    • @willm5032
      @willm5032 10 дней назад +3

      You can get collapsable spraybooths and then just run a pipe out of the window. Take it from me, paint fumes aren't fun and an open window won't provide enough ventilation

    • @machmodels
      @machmodels  9 дней назад +1

      If you have no ventilation, I would definitely try to spray outside! Save your lungs👌🏻

      Y'all only say "nay-sell" if you also say "ve-hickle" and "hwut". Otherwise the word comes from French and the right way is to say "nacelle" while twirling a lively Bordeaux and smoking a Gauloise.
