    Hi Thom
    Thanks for this. I am learning a lot! I already use voice control, especially for temperature in the car and for radio stations.
    Have set up the interior lighting. I had no idea this was a feature. Have set interior on purple!. Would you opt for setting it to the temperature?
    Noticed on a previous video that you said you used spotify. Why don't I use spotify in the car!! I can listen to it using my smart phone, but it does not connect, so is there a way to do this, so that I can make choices from the controls on the steering wheel. By the way, I took my phone to the car so that I could watch youtube video for setting up the lights, and your voice came through the speakers!. Bluetooth.
    I see you use ECO a lot. Haven't done so till now, because I don't like the coasting feeling but it is obviously a cost saver. So I will do so more. I had not found the car performance screen either.
    Could you say something about pilot assist and adaptive cruise control. I user cruise control all the time.
    You mentioned some of the things you don't like. I find the sunroof controls tricky, and the lever is very small, and had to ask Volvo how to operate it.
    Thank you again for all the info. which I really enjoy.
    Philip UK

      Hi Philip, thanks a lot for the compliments. Glad to read that you are enjoying and also learning from my videos! Appreciate it big time :-)
      a) Personally I like the purple interior light a lot, I've had that one since my 2017 V40 and got quite 'attached' to that color in the cabin. I do like the 'gimmick' temperature feature also, especially in the summer on a late leisurely drive. Have a go I would recommend you. ;-)
      b) Let's solve the Spotify issue! There are 3 options I can think of right now.
      1: connect to bluetooth and use the 'iPod' tile on the right (->) options screen. Then, start playing Spotify from the phone and from there you can push previous/next etc. on the steering wheel. Perhaps have a but of a try around with this one.
      2: You can use the 3G modem in the car, if you have the active internet subscription in your XC40 (perhaps check with your local dealership for advice regarding this functionality). Anyway, if you have the internet connection in the car you can use the built-in Spotify App and log in from there and stream Spotify without any phone required. Very handy if works!
      3: You can also use e.g. Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, connect your phone by usb cable in the center console, open the functionality on the right options screen (->) and start using Spotify from the application AppleC or AndroidA in the system which appears in the center display tile.
      c) Have a go with the ECO mode too, it takes some learning but especially on the highway its easy to use and over time saves costs. :-) The 'performance' display can be found in settings>my car> displays>display themes, and from there you can try out all 4.
      d) I'll be making a video soon regarding the Pilot assist and ACC. Stay tuned. However I do use Pilot assist a lot on longer drives, mainly national roads and highways. Works very well and reliable. However I always keep an active hand on the wheel as it is still software (and as we should...). Also here, recommend to you to have a try and experience yourself, its fun, trust me!
      Hope the above helps, if any questions feel free to comment here or DM me on Instagram @thom.lov
      Cheers and thanks again!

      @@thom-lov Hi Thom. Thanks for getting back to me and for your comprehensive answers to my queries.
      Have tried to set up Spotify so that I can navigate through music. However, I have learnt you need Spotify premium in order to use the app, which I don't have at the moment, Do you? So that is the route for me to take.
      Also, I cannot use my android phone and cable, (Sony xperia) as my xc40 only has 1 usb port, and to use android you need the 2 ports one of which has a white frame around it. Perhaps this was an option which I didn't get.
      I need to check with my dealership about the internet. I have ticked the bluetooth box for connection but Google does not connect.
      Look forward to seeing your next video on Pilot assist and ACC.
      Again, many thanks for your help. Am having fun seeing the many things I have missed about my xc40.
      Cheers!

    Hi, thanks for the video. I am getting my XC40 T3 Momentum Advanced in July. I am very excited. I am still debating if I should get the Manual seat extensions for driver and passengers. Do you have some thoughts on that?

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  3 года назад +1

      Hi Jana, thanks very much! Awesome car you've got on order, I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot! Regarding the manual seat extensions, I do have them in my XC40 as I am very tall (2.08m). The extender gives me a bit more comfort on longer drives so a must have for me. I would like to recommend you to (if possible) visit your local Volvo dealership and simply try out what fits for you: with or without. :-)
      Hope this helps, cheers!

    Great video, Do the features you’ve mentioned come standard on all XC40 models? If not, How can you tell which model has which feature, especially if you are buying used?

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  3 месяца назад

      If you have a core or essential trim then sometimes a few features may miss. However if you look at a sensus infotainment Volvo (pre Google software), you can easily swipe to the right and all the features will appear. There you can see what is on that specific car. With the Volvo Google cars, you can also have a look in the settings where you can turn on/off the available safety features. A dealership can also always check the vin of the car and show you the option list the Volvo in question has.

    Great! Two questions, does the audio commands support opening the boot :)!!? (hilarious if it does)
    And also is there any chance for in depth explanation of the Volvo on call app and what is all about it?

      You can use an usb- cable (with phone) or stick to play music in the car too. In addition if you have the data package in the car you can use one of the apps like Spotify. Hope this helps!

    Hi Thom, I've heard that the wireless charger is not very practical, meaning when we are making a turn if the phone moves a bit the wireless charging doesn't work, did you face the same issue?

    • @thom-lov

      Hi! Most of the time it works pretty well in mine, but indeed from time to time it stops charging after a sharp turn and such. But overall works OK! :-)

    Hi Thom,
    Can you shed some lights on the reliability of the XC40.
    Have you encountered any major issues with your car since owning it?

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  3 года назад

      Hi Michael, thanks for asking! Besides that there are a couple of things which after experiencing the car for a while now I would prefer differently (e.g. start stop system which is always on when you start the car in EU). I have not experienced any serious reliability issues. Freezing winter or hot summer, it starts and takes me, family and friends safely to the destination in a very comfortable manner. Therefor would strongly recommend the XC40. I made a video about a few small issues of the car a while ago, suggest you check it out for some more thoughts from my side: 'Volvo XC40 - What I Don't like about my XC40'. If any more questions make sure to let me know, glad to help you out!

      @@thom-lov Thank you Thom for your very prompt reply.
      I am from Melbourne Australia and am thinking of upsizing from my current Audi A3 Sportback (4 year old now) to either the Audi Q3 40 TFSI Quattro or the Volvo XC40 T5 R design, which was featured in your video.
      Both are priced about the same in Australia. Unlike the Q3, XC40 is manufactured in China and having been only on the market since 2019, is untested.
      I have to say though, the reviews on this car, both overseas and locally in Australia have mostly been positive.
      I did watch your other video, in which I think you highlighted the front Centre armrest has a indentation after a year.

    • @thom-lov
      @thom-lov  3 года назад

      The XC40 is overall a very good car in its segment. Would recommend to just go for a testdrive in both and eventually follow your personal preference. Despite that the XC40 is manufactured in China, it breathes Sweden :-) Cheers!
