Appreciate that Garth. Enjoy the car. The other favorite of mine that often doesn't get passed on is that when the car is in reverse if you press L or R mirror switch twice it will drop the mirror so you can see the curb when parallel parking. Scratched wheel can be depressing! Thanks for watching
I’ve had a Volvo XC40 (gas) for 5 years and never knew that trick about the windows and how to open the trunk! I now have an electric XC40 (recharge) and this video was SO helpful! Thank you
Thanks so much I appreciate that. Please do let me know if there is any technology you would like featured in the future. Love the sleek C40 look, congratulations.
OMG! Just got my Volvo three days ago, 2025 CX60 mild hybrid. My head is spinning leaning all the new adaptations. I have already called the dealer for additional instructions. The manual is useless as you need to be in the car to use it and I LIKE PICTURES. I was almost in tears in frustration. The couple videos that I watched of yours have been so helpful. Believe it or not, especially the tailgate lift! I will be referencing your videos in the future! Thanks so much for your thorough easy to understand explanations! (I must not have the window feature)
Thanks so much I appreciate that. Since you live with the car too, if you have questions please let me know so I can make a video for other owners too. Great car choice! Have a great day.
You are so welcome enjoy the car. I’m planning on an EX30 next year but am really hesitant to give up a car that has been so good. XC40 is such a great car I still tell my family once a week how much I love that car! Thanks for watching
Jebbie - thank you so much for this video. I've been sweeping my foot under the rear and that explains why I've had inconsistent results when trying to open the trunk/boot lid. I need to kick in and out. Best tip ever! Cheers!
Once again - a video that very simply and very clearly shows EXACTLY the little but important everyday tasks that an owner NEEDS to understand. My SA didn't show me even 25% of what you've explained here. Very grateful for these videos, Jebbie!
Very kind of you. Thanks again for your support. Once the crazy December shopping season is over I will be doing more content and suggestions would be welcome. Have a great Christmas!
I am anticipating the delivery (in UK) of an Recharge XC40 next week so this great video is invaluable especially the segment about setting the tailgate height; it will prevent my damaging it in my garage.Thank you,
Roy thanks very much and congratulations to you. The XC40 Recharge is really great. Just approaching my first full year as an owner and I love it just as much now. Let me know if you think any subject should be featured in the future.
This is great! I love this level of review, digging into the convenience features that are so often missed. I had no idea about the hold-to-lower-windows feature, and I can't tell you how many XC40 Recharge videos I've watched in prep for receiving ours 😁
Thanks so much and congratulations on your recharge! It's a wonderful car. Another convenience feature that I love and doesn't feature a lot out there. . Put the car in reverse and press one of the mirror buttons twice. Eg R mirror. It will lower so you can see the curb for parallel parking. Thanks again
Thanks for pointing out the windows-down feature from the remote. Yours is the first video I've seen that showed me this. Living in a hot climate, I absolutely love this feature!!! My previous car had this, but I miss it in my current car so much.
Mark thanks so much. The XC40 is a wonderful car both in gas and electric. I have another video which is specifically for XC40 owners in the link below. There are some really great contributions by other owners in the comments section too, which I have learned a lot from. Happy holidays to you and your family - ruclips.net/video/wP67R7cdABc/видео.html
Hi, first let e say your really like your videos and thank you for all the help. Then may questions, about the key, if I don´t close the car with the key, and just go away of the car about 3m, the car should close automatic? Because I try that but it doesn´t close, there are any setting for that? About eh trunk some time when I "kick" to close I ear a sound like bip and doesn´t close. What could be?
Very good video! But I have question.. If I want to leave the key inside the car (locked) to go surfing, and use that metal key (inside the key) to open the car after I’m back, how do i do that? I was used to do that on Audi. But I didn’t figured out how to that on the xc40 recharge
Sorry for the delay. I completely missed your question. The only I way I know that you can lock a key in the car is using the Volvo cars app. The metal blade can be used to unlock the car but I am not aware if you can use this to lock the car. I tried and couldn’t get it to work. If anyone has a suggestion on this I would love to hear it too. Since you are active and outsdoors, You may want to consider getting a sports key. It is an additional key with no buttons. It is small and can fit around a lanyard. It is also waterproof within limits. Please see link and hope that helps - volvo.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9866/~/key-tag-%28sport-key%29
As always very helpful ! I've red somewhere that the sunroof shade can close automatically to keep the car cool if it detects sun but is there a way to close it manually with the key?
The auto moon roof shade closing icon is in settings under Driving menu. It will work if the car is locked for 15 mins and temperature is high. However I am not aware of any way to close it using the key. Thanks for watching
Hi Jebbie, it is a nice video again. I learn a lot of information abaut volvo cars from your videos. I have a quastion. I bought a new volvo xc 40 pure electric this month. If the windows are open and I lock my car, don't the windows and the sunroof close automatically? Do i have to hold down the lock button?I hope you have any idea abaut my question. Thank you very much in advance for your answer.
Yes I believe it does. When I worked in sales I would always open every car in summer this way before getting in. I have therefore used this in Volvos of many ages and haven’t had problems before.
Thanks for watching. Even though the technology in both the C40 and XC40 is really awesome my favorite thing about the cars is still the small spaces. Especially in a city environment it is the right balance of small car and utility. Enjoy your Volvo!
There isn’t an auto lock system when you leave the car. If you open the car and don’t open the door it will automatically lock after a period to prevent accidental opening. But it doesn’t auto lock if you leave the car.
Thanks for watching. I am not aware of any keyless locking feature. The only similar feature I found in the manual and materials is automatic relocking. If you open locks and don't open car within 2 mins then it relocks. Outside of that it is just key fob, keyless and app lock functions
I have never encountered the situation so I don’t know for sure. However your locking system is mechanical and the interior controls are too. The central locking is electronic. My guess is that if you are inside it would open. I definitely would love to hear comments on this especially if any Volvo techs read this. Thanks for watching.
How do you unlock the rear doors? If people are in the back, the doors automatically lock when you start to drive. When you stop, the rear doors remain locked. Is that child safety? Now people in the rear have to stick their hand out the window to lift the exterior latch to open the rear door. Very annoying. Please help
You may want to get that checked at service next time you are there. Most of the time people find it hard to open not easy. The sensor in my S60 came set wrong and therefore had that problem. Service changed the position and it went away. Thanks
Wish I could keep the doors locked while standing next to the car. In some cities, thieves will open up the door (opposite side where you're standing) while you're getting gas and grab/steal whatever is on the seat. Having to unlock the car with the fob was easy. Now, bad guys can just grab the car handle and the car will open -- because I'm standing next to it, filling it up with gas. I need to keep it locked until I unlock it!! Dang
had the car for 12 months and didnt know about opening the windows, thanks!!!
Me too!!! Thank you!!

So glad to see it has the window up and down feature. Years ago we had a VW that did that. I have missed having that feature.
Agreed. I really do use it often especially in summer when I forget to cool the car
As I am new to Volvos, these operations took me weeks to figure out. Your one short video opened me to simple great things. We love our C40. Thanks.
Thanks so much I appreciate that. Please do let me know if there is any technology you would like featured in the future. Love the sleek C40 look, congratulations.

Wife has this car, did not know most of these tips. Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much I appreciate that. Since you live with the car too, if you have questions please let me know so I can make a video for other owners too. Great car choice! Have a great day.
I just purchased a 2023 XC40 Recharge Pure and have watched several of your videos. They have been very informative and extremely helpful. Thank you.;
You are so welcome enjoy the car. I’m planning on an EX30 next year but am really hesitant to give up a car that has been so good. XC40 is such a great car I still tell my family once a week how much I love that car! Thanks for watching
Thanks a lot for this. I didn't know you could adjust the height of the back door once it is open, and I always swept my foot to open the trunk 😀👍
Very welcome. Glad you are finding that useful.
Jebbie - thank you so much for this video. I've been sweeping my foot under the rear and that explains why I've had inconsistent results when trying to open the trunk/boot lid. I need to kick in and out. Best tip ever! Cheers!

@@JebRevsUp Thank you so much! Waiting for my C40, these videos are golden.

Recently bought a XC40 recharge and your videos are damn useful. Thanks Jebbie!
Congratulations on the new car. I have doubt you are going to love driving it!
I have the gas powered car. I learned about a bunch of features I didn't know it had.
Mark thanks so much. The XC40 is a wonderful car both in gas and electric. I have another video which is specifically for XC40 owners in the link below. Hi, to close windows you will need to hold the close button for a few seconds. A single press will just lock the doors. Thanks for watching
Great! So helpful!
Raaj, thanks for watching, enjoy your volvo
Do you know if the 2019 xc 60 momentum t5 has the windows down with the remote feature?
Yes I believe it does. When I worked in sales I would always open every car in summer this way before getting in. I have therefore used this in Volvos of many ages and haven’t had problems before.
Great!
How do you enable/disable the “bip/horn” sound when locking the vehicle?
Don’t know the answer to this one. But I welcome comments and would love to know if anyone has input.
Go to settings, then My Car, then locking and then scroll to bottom of screen and it says bip/horn when locking
Too helpful video!

What the FRUNK?! 😁
Very witty!
does the volvo also support keyless locking? simply by exiting the vehicle??

XC60 does....walk away doors lock, lights flash and mirrors fold.
Can the door open from inside if 12v battery failed?

Child safety button is on drivers side window switches. It is the last button underneath rear window switches. Thanks
that foot activation is a complete pain - always activating when you don't need it - how do you disable it?
