Glad you're digging the new scales Zach! Thanks so much for taking a look at them! V1s will be coming soon for those who don't have a V2 😁🤘
Wow you guys are completely sold out of Deka scales. When will you restock?
Any update??
Yeah, great commercial.
I just bought some.
@@Hyper_drive214 Has yours shipped yet?
I got a Hogue DEKA a while ago, and I liked it, but never quite warmed up to it. It was too light and thin. My copy was black and bland. There did not seem to be much to it, apart from a nice, but slender blade. Then I got the Original Goat scales, expanded model, stone washed aluminum. NICE! In fact, after installation, I continued to have mixed feelings for a day or so, and then I began to warm… Now it is one of my favorites! Now it has presence! Now it fills my hand better! And the action is just as good as ever, if not better, and the blade seems even sweeter! I must say, I am happy with my Hogue DEKA Original GOAT knife!
Just finished putting on my new scales while watching your guide it made the process so easy and now my Deka is gorgeous.
Very nice!!
Just purchased and installed the XL scales, which are a little longer for providing more grip area. The XL, being longer, also includes a lanyard hole. Also got the XL floating - full jimped backspacer. What a beautiful knife with the OG aluminum in-the-buff scales. Thanks for providing such a detailed instruction for swapping scales, it made the process very simple. I normally don't like coated blades, but the black on your blade looks fantastic with those scales. Very NICE!
Glad they finally did this. Main thing that has kept me from getting a Delay are the scales they come with. Good video Zach.
Those look excellent! Good choice on pattern.
Groovy! Thank you!
I just finished installing a set of Titanium Skinny XL scales on my Deka 2. This video was a great help. You're right about the clip, here's to hoping that Lynch Northwest will make a Ti upgrade clip for it with a smidge more space for screwdriver access.
If you get a LynchNW clip for a Elementum, they fit the Deka perfectly AND it's easier to put on & take off; more space for the screwdriver🤘
OG are champions. I cannot overstate how awesome their work is. I like to spend the extra 15 bucks and get that ceracote.
I just got my magnacut deka in the fde polymer and I love it! I’m 100% gonna get one of the variations of these OG scales and it’ll be perfect
Nice! It’s a terrific knife and putting some custom scales will make it even better! Enjoy your new EDC!
Getting these exact scales in the FDE scheme to stay true to my new Deka v2. Considering fully jimped back spacer in black to go along with hardware. Sold out but I know exactly what and where I’m getting new scales from…OG!!!
Oh those are going to look terrific on this Deka! Good call on the backspacer too!
Just ordered a Magnacut Deka with red and black G-mascus scales. Should be good and strong. Really like the Kirinite OG scales. One of those materials you don't get much on knives, unless it's a Case ;)
I saw that one, it looks nice! No doubt on the scales!! Have a good weekend!
I'm digging the look of these quite a bit! Gotta get them put on mine!!
Right on!! They level up the Deka big time!
In my opinion the Deka destroys the bugout. You can get it with g10 scales from factory plus your option of wharncliff or clip point.
I've been wanting to get one but just sad that you can't get the magnacut with g10.
I recently bought this same deja but mine isn’t as “drop shutty” as yours. How can I make it more easy to close? Could you do a video on it if it’s something I need to adjust on it? Thanks!
I really dig my scales from OG. In fact those you have there are the same one's I ordered.
My only complaint is that the in and out of pocket action is rough. Pocket shred'r for sure. I'm milling mine down under the clip this weekend hoping for a possible cure.
I want that added weight. Lol. Gonna snag a backspacer too while I'm at it.
Worth it with the backspacer!
Those OG scales look sweet!
thanks for making this video, first knife i swapped the scales on. Bought the Blue Linen Micarta scales from RC Bladeworks, looks and feels amazing now :)
Oh those are nice scales!! I'm glad you got a custom build now!
Got a pic thxs
That looks sweet!!
Gotta love the Goats 🔥🔥 Looks great Zach
Yeah buddy!! They feel great!
Thanks for reviewing the OG scales and showing how to replace. Ordered the OG polished version for more bling earlier this week. Looking forward to putting them of Hogue Deka 2 Magnacut. What is the brand of your Torx driver?
I am glad it helped you out! Oh nice choice with the polished OG scales! The Torx driver is from Journey Tool Co. and I purchased this one as a dealer exclusive from Rivers Edge Cutlery.
@@zachstuff Thanks. They put a lot of Lock Tite on the pivot and I can't break it free with my lightweight driver. I need more leverage.
@@lewisward4359 gotcha. I use the study one from Wiha. It's black/red with a pop top cap to store bits. Makes it easier to put more leverage at a slow pace without stripping the screw head out.
@@zachstuff yep. Thanks.
There’s a Deka lightweight in 20CV for sale on Knafsale.
I have their scales on a couple of my knives! I’ve have their Deka scales for a month now (in black) but, I haven’t installed them yet cuz I’m waiting for their Deka backspacer’s to re-up. Waiting patiently…. Kinda…. 😑
Oh very nice! I just got my backspacer in for the exposed aluminum.
I love your video! Really dumb question. My Hogues have Magnacut does that mean they are V2? How do you differentiate between V1 and V2?
Thanks Tim! Never a dumb question. The version 1 has 2 screws in the middle of the scale and the V2’s do not have any. If you go to BladeHQ and search “Deka” you can see the difference between the scale screws.
Most all the magnacut is V2! Enjoy your great Deka!
What work surface do you have. That looks handy.
This mat is an electronic parts mat I found on Amazon. Heat and chemical resistant and is a silicone base.
Where can you buy the torqe driver? Also is there anywhere can buy a different pivet and T8 screws backspacers scales for gen 2 Deka
The driver is from Journey Tool Company. Different hardware is sold mainly on Etsy for the Deka. Deka scales have been sold by Original Goat.
Them scale's are awesome 👍 Hope you're having a great week. Stay Safe and keep them Sharp 🔪 Brother Zach ✌🏻
Thank you Ed! Keeping busy at work and trying new scales at night!!
They definitely look awesome! Great video Zach 👍
Thank you Jeremy!
I just ordered a Deka and swapping the scales sounds good. Do I need that pivot tool? If so, you got a link to it?
The tool is helpful, but not a requirement. They have them on Etsy using search of pivot alignment tool. Company is Rust Bucket Goods. Nice scale upgrade!
Where did you get the blue T8 tool that used to loosen the screws???
Journey Tool Co was who manufactured it, but was sold as an exclusive through Rivers Edge Cutlery. www.journeytoolco.com
I’ve got the Hogue Magnacut on the way and just ordered the OG aluminum scales, so this video is great to watch. One question………where did you get that pivot tool? It looks like something I’m going to absolutely want before I change mine out. Many thanks!
Nice you got a great knife build going! The pivot tool is from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. If you search Benchmade pivot tool it will pull up on Etsy. Couple different options of materials they offer. A great and handy tool!
@@zachstuff Thanks for the quick response. And by the way…….Liked & Subscribed !!!
@@tomcaldwell5914 You’re Welcome! Thank you!
Just got the OGs installed. Coated black with a black cherry backspacer. Your video was a big help and the tool you recommended from Rust Bucket Goods made all of the difference in realigning the pivot. Thanks again.
Hey Zach, do you have a link to the tool you used for keeping the pivot all together?
Here are three options, including the one I used in this video!

I just ordered a set a couple days ago. I went with the Stocky XL drift and added the northern lights cerekote. They're gonna be going on a Magnacut Wharnie. I can't wait!!
Do you think the in the buff scales will turn dull and loose its color since it's not coated . .
I wouldn't think so. They have a pretty solid finish.
Great video I have a set on the way but I'm interested in the alignment tool that you have, how much does it cost and were can I get one thanks 👍
Thank you! The pivot alignment tool is from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Search for Benchmade pivot alignment tool and it should show right up! The costs vary depending on what material. I would suggest the steel one as it won’t mar up like the aluminum does. I’ve used both.
@@zachstuff thanks for the info
I got an OG backspaced for my deka , when I install it do the barrel spacers go back in between the scales or does the backspacer replace the barrel spacers when reinstalling …??? Any help would be appreciated
Good backspacer! OG shows 2 options. One being a floater where you leave the original barrel spacers in place and the other a full replacement. So it would depend on which one you have. originalgoat.com/products/backspacer-aluminum-hogue-deka-v2
Where did you find that alignment tool? Sweet!
Thank you! The pivot alignment tool is from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Search for Benchmade pivot alignment tool and it should show right up!
@@zachstuff Thanks - I wonder how many other pivots it works on?
Sweet!
Do you know what the coatings do that they offer for their scales? I couldn’t find any info. Thanks!
You're welcome! If you click into this link, you can select to add a standard or premium coating on the right side drop down menu. If you click on the coating you want to check out, it will pull up a color menu under that menu. Like the rainbow! @@zachstuff awesome. Keep up the good work, sir.
So I should have watched a video before I swapped out my crappy factory plastic scales on my Deka V2 Magnacut with some Jade G10 ones.
I have it all back together but not really sure I have the pivot back in the right way. I removed both factory scales then put the new G10 ones on. I noticed that in this video, he did one side at a time. I should have watched the video first, looks a lot easier to do one side at a time . I'm thinking I don't have my pivot all the way in because once I got it all back together and the blade centered, there's a small bit of blade play. If I tighten the pivot up more to eliminate the blade play, then the blade doesn't deploy as smoothly as it did before. It actually doesn't open very freely at all until I loosen the pivot back up to the point there's some blade play. I'm going to have to take it all apart and try again. I just ordered the pivot alignment tool off of Etsy . Hopefully this will fix me up. Any more tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for checking out the video and it sounds like you got a sweet build going on your Deka! To me it sounds like you may have just got the liners a touch off adjustment when putting it back together.
One trick to try is loosening the scale screws that attached to the liners and getting the centering lined up, then tightening down the pivot all the way so it will not deploy. This kind of holds it all together from the center point. Then you can tighten up the scale screws gently, one by one. You can alternate sides too. This trick has worked for me in the past.
It kind of does what the alignment tool does, keeping it all together from the center point. Let me know how it goes and send me a photo of the finished build!
@@zachstuff That's awesome! Thanks for the quick response and tip ! I'll definitely give that a try when I get a chance and send you a pic of the finished knife. I think this will be a awesome EDC blade after it has some proper scales mounted. I'm super excited about the Magnacut, it will be my first in that steel.
UPDATE:
Your tip worked great ! I did exactly what you recommended and it's great now ! Zero blade play when open and "drop shutty" smooth action! Feels WAY better now with the G10 scales . It's still a super light knife but now there's now squishy feel from the FRN scales that came in this knife. It was kinda tough to find any Deka V2 scales in stock but I finally saw some available in Jade G10 so I snatched them up . This is an absolutely fabulous knife now that it has proper scales. I think there's a huge value in the Deka V2 even after factoring in the cost to upgrade the factory scales !
How is the slip with that pattern on the notoriously slippery aluminium scales?
With the milled out sections it leaves high points which are not slippery. Has a good feel.
Do you need that pivot tool to swap it like you did?
You can use a bit or something else besides the pivot tool, just makes it easier!
How's the lockup up & down, side to side
Solid lock up and no blade play at all.
🔥🔥🔥
How did you get that pivot off wtf? Mine wont budge. T8 screw right??
Yeah, T8 worked on mine. Sometimes you might have to dribble some lube or such down there and let it soak in. They may have gotten some locktite in the pivot area.
Are they more sturdy then the "plastic" ones?
By far! These aluminum scales have no flex at all.
@@zachstuff Awsome thank you!
Where did you get the pivot tool? Well done, sir! Love the scales.
Thank you! Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Search pivot alignment tool.
What pivot tool did you use for this?
I find the pivot tool from Flytanium works well along with the one from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Search his store name or Benchmade pivot tool.
Looks great - but you're basically replacing half the knife - shouldn't need to do that . . .
This knife absolutely SHITS on the bm bugout.
Do you have a link for that driver? Thx
Here yah go! journeytoolco.com
@@zachstuff thanks!
Would be ablosutely amazing if they shipped to Europe. Because the crappy hogue plastic scales are a disgrace for a renowned pistolgrip maker 😢
The G-10 and Carbon Fiber models are a big bonus for the knife!
I go to the site and there is nothing available
They have been doing drops of different products each week. You can also email them for additional information on the next drop of the product you are looking for.
Unfortunately they are all sold out. Looks like I missed them by a week.
They are restocking after this weekend. The hurricane out them behind this week. Send them an email if you see something you like and they should take good care of you!
@@zachstuff I did and they informed me of the issues with the storm. I was just going to post an update but you beat me to it. I'll be ordering a pair when they are back up and running.
What is the Discount code please
I was just looking at those OG scales. What is that tool to hold the pivot point?
The tool is from Rust Bucket Goods on Etsy. Very handy!
