Got the same scales / color in extended length for my Deka today. Haven't installed yet, but they look pretty nice. Hopefully the extendos look as good as the regular size ones you got once I bolt them up!
I installed Flytanium Ti scales and had similar problems regarding the action. Mine just wouldn't drop at all, even with slight wrist flick, with the back screws tight enough to stay and the pivot tight enough to not have blade play. I took out the blade and washers, cleaned them with rubbing alcohol, and then lubed them and a bit of the pivot with mineral oil. It helped, and it'll drop shut without blade play now, but not every time. I'm eventually going to loctite it, but I want to see if I can get it to drop every time first. I don't know if there's some subtle difference in width with the aftermarket scales or what. I think when I eventually need to sharpen it, if I still haven't gotten it to drop reliably, I might try to strop the washers a tiny bit.
Nice to hear I’m not the only one with this issue, you may be right about the thickness issue, it may be a flaw in the design if others are having the same problem. Thanks for sharing!
They have offered to replace them and said the flat colors do this more often than gloss. I had never purchased aftermarket aluminim scales before, but my factory aluminum scales never did this. Thx for your reply!
Do you feel like the steel on this model is treated good? I'm on the fence with Hogue because of the whispers of low Rockwell on their Magnacut. Other than that it's a very well sought after blade. May pick one up. Cheers!
Unfortunately I can’t speak confidently on the heat treat, it seems to hold an edge very well, since I haven’t had to touch it up yet and I’ve used it a fair amount. I’d say for the price, i’m happy with the performance so far

How has the ceramic coating held up on your OGs? Got mine in red and it is peeling at the edges far more that i'd like.
I haven’t had any issues with peeling or chipping. I’m surprised that’s happening, maybe consider reaching out to them to see if that’s normal
