Pretty amazing day and a great fish! I love the solo trips sometimes. Nothing but you and the elements conjoined with nature. Awesome day bro. See you soon.
It is! Before I got the camera going I think the sword hit the buoy or jumped right next to it or something. It looked like someone had dropped a bathtub right by it.
Hey Dan glad all the boys loved it! Be sure to tell them that in RUclips land time goes faster. The fight was short on this one, 1.5-2 hours. Getting it in the boat and bagged was at least an hour.
Totally enjoyed this one Matt, alot of weight to heeve hoo into the cockpit by yourself. 1 hell of a job brother!!! This definitely deserves 5 🌟 s. Gonna try some curry sauce now next time I cook some fish, sounds excellent!!!
Hate to pop bubbles, that is not a huge swordfish, and may as well been caught on a long line. All he did was harpoon a fish after the winch wore it out.
Hey James, thanks for tuning in. Just a little info for you on sword fishing with electrics. The reason we use electric reels is due to current and weight required to get the bait to the bottom. Typically I'll have up to 3000' of line out on the tip rod. NO ONE wants to hand reel in 3000' of line with a 10# weight on it. When we are fighting a sword with electric reels, most of the time we are hand pulling the line into the reel when we are fighting the fish. Many times the fight goes on for hours and hours. You don't just hook the fish and push a button and it magically comes to the boat all worn out. As far as size goes the average size sword is listed at 50-200 pounds. This one came in at 223 pounds. Please send over a couple of photos of swords you have caught that you would consider huge, I could share them with the viewers if you would like.
HOLY SHIT, WOW!!!! It was funny when you said that, but I was thinking the same thing at the same time. Very nice job all the way around, great job brother.
@@marathonsportfishing I also watched your video about catching large yellow tail and how to properly use an anchor ball and grapple anchor. I purchased the setup prior to our keys trip in July. It worked perfectly following your instructions. Thank you Brother!
@@marathonsportfishing thanks for replying back to me Sr… I have a house in Marathon and also my boat is there but me and my brother wanted to learn how to fish for swordfish. How much it would be to go fishing with you for swordfish if you have availability? I have been following you for a while, I live in Miami and work as a Police Officer for the City.
Ok for swordfish training school its $2000 It's a 2 day intensive training course. Let me know if thats something your interested in and we will set up a time.
@@marathonsportfishing he was doing a live thing last night and mentioned you then asked for folks to go watch and subscribe. I did but unfortunately I don’t think any others did. You Rock. Not like Captain Dan who catches Rocks.
Safety is always a concern with this fish. There are times when it is good to have others on board, but there are times when getting it done solo is the safest route. Things happen fast with swords, so fast that I cant explain what's coming, it then becomes a danger to others on the vessel. If you live down here and would to come with let me know!
Hey Carson!! This one was far from dead when I hit it with harpoon. I basically got a stone shot on her! Theres a few other videos I have with amazing harpoon shots. Check out the harpoon shot on this one: ruclips.net/video/6qEuYP5LTvo/видео.html
