How to Prepare a Swordfish Bill For Artwork

- For my 40th birthday, my wife and some friends splurged for me to go on a swordfish charter and we scored!!! I caught my very first swordfish! I would have loved to have done a full taxidermy mount of the fish but that is costly and, I just don't have a wall big enough in my house to put a mount like that. So we looked around and found that RJ Boyle from RJ Boyle Studio and Tackle Shop in Lighthouse Point, Florida not only can teach you anything you want to know about swordfish, but he does AMAZING ART WORK AS WELL!! He actually does art work with the bill of the swordfish. This was way more economical and was an easier sell with my wife to hang on a wall.
But it's not as simple as painting a bill of a fish. There is some serious preparation that needs to take place to get the bill ready for painting. In this video, we hope to give you the first steps to prepare your swordfish bill so it can be ready for the artist.
We'd also love to give a serious shoutout to RJ for doing an amazing job on my sword bill. RJ proved to be a gentleman and a wealth of knowledge. Visit the RJ Boyle web site for his artwork and tackle shop at the following link:

Hey I just caught a short billed spear Fish in Hawaii! I don’t have an ocean near me Back in my state. Can I pack it in salt and leave in somewhere safe?
Hey congrats!!! That’s awesome!!! I’m sure it would work if you pack it in salt.
@@watchyourlip3209 alright, thank you so much man❤️
I got eight swordfish bills.... :) Perhaps il turn it into a weapon of sorts :)
hmmm - sure!
Hey Thanks for the vid, Can you also soak it in tapwater with loads of salt?
Tjobo Kho no - it’s actually the creatures in the water that eat the soft portions out from the inside of the bill
@@watchyourlip3209 I burried it in the end, also worked, now i have to bleach it i guess. any tips, my current location is not so sunny...
There’s an electric winch on that reel and the deck hands did all the work. Lmao how exactly did "you" catch that ?
