It's hard to believe that such a reserved, gentle and quiet guy like Daniel Day Lewis portrays such an animated, boisterous & larger than life guy like Bill the Butcher. Absolutely brilliant actor!!
"He was a bastard" "you think so?" Daniel was disappointed in the reporter girl i think. Bill the Butcher was just a survivor and a product of his environment, who still eeked out what honor and integrity that he could given the things he had to do to survive and prosper.
Gangs of New York isn't my favorite movie, but Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher is definitely my favorite acting performance in any movie ever. "That's a wound!"
Here's a fun fact, I ran into Cameron Diaz at Petco in Long Beach and got to ask her how she likes Gangs of New York's and how she liked working with Daniel Day-Lewis. Cameron was super cool down-to-earth and approachable
Here's another fun fact, as Cameron Diaz was walking into Petco I greeted her.... As I went down to tie my shoe I realized who I greeted. Looked back up and then asked Cameron Diaz, " do you know who you are?" She laughed.
a great film, but why cameron diaz? the most charismatic thing about her is the name....but then hollywood is full of those "beauties"...jessica lange, julia roberts, kim basinger....
I'm sure Cameron Diaz didn't get the part based on her acting ability....but purely on her doing 'favors' for certain producers as is common in the filth called 'Hollyweird'. DDL carried the movie and even made Leo look like an amateur.
Thank god premieres aren't like this anymore. Now we have class. This just felt so cheap, with Richard & Judy & a bunch of has-beens. 2000's Britain was a horrible breeding ground for nostalgia. Day-Lewis & Scorsese look so bored in this.
No. Fashion and anger did not lead. Anger and someone presenting the solution to the thing causing the anger. Does not have. This is a rape scene of someone who is losing an argument is using his or her crotch to win

Such an incredible performance, scarily good
the thirst on the presenter when she is speaking to leo is unreal!
Daniel Day-Lewis was the only one that could of pulled playing the butcher off, he was perfect for the role
"He was a bastard"
"you think so?"

DDL is still partially in character in this interview, his accent and diction is so similar
2 words to represent the movie, DDL answers : New york. Best answer.
One of the few films where dicaprio got overshadowed and outclassed…daniel day lewis absolutely killed it.. what a fn actor!
Gangs of New York isn't my favorite movie, but Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher is definitely my favorite acting performance in any movie ever.
"That's a wound!"
Daniel Day Lewis? More like Daddy Day Lewis
Perhaps the only movie in which leo was on another actors undercard..
As it should because he's literally against the butcher
@@wesam6385 ddl might be goat so not bad company
Daniel is the butcher even during the interview
I think DiCaprio’s scar is when he got smashed in the face with a bottle with that model. Poor guy, glad he can show it comfortably
It’s amazing how you can still kind off hear the butcher in his voice
Anger and desperation multiplies into a hate or murder scene
Tht interviewer was flirting with Leo and Daniel Day-Lewis, lol, maybe she loved them and did both of them.
DDL made this film, Leo was good but DDL owned him in every scene.
Here's a fun fact, I ran into Cameron Diaz at Petco in Long Beach and got to ask her how she likes Gangs of New York's and how she liked working with Daniel Day-Lewis. Cameron was super cool down-to-earth and approachable
DDL is EVERYTHING in this movie.
Was that a young stunning Kiera Knightly at the beginning.
No
13:07 is when the theme from Gettysburg starts for some reason.
thought I was the only one to notice... the score at around 6:25 is also from Gettysburg
I'm studying human body language..and I can clearly tell leo being thirsted by that interviewer.
Cameron Diaz is the one of the biggest beauties in Hollywood, and today she is the same, it seems that the years do not pass by her.
Here's another fun fact, as Cameron Diaz was walking into Petco I greeted her.... As I went down to tie my shoe I realized who I greeted. Looked back up and then asked Cameron Diaz,
" do you know who you are?" She laughed.
Who is the interviewer?
Daniel Day Lewis was the best thing about this film. Leo and Cameron were shite.
God Leo back in the days... 😍😍
What's wrong with him now

One of the stupidest things I’ve read on here. Women must love you. Idiot.

The lady interviewing is beautiful . I imagine thats what DeCaprio, Day Lewis and Scorcese were all thinking as she interviewed them.
Oh Leo!!! 😍😍😍😍😍

Take out Daniel Day Lewis and this film is unwatchable garbage.
I wouldn't go that far, finnbarr fury is good too.😉

"Gobsmacked" Oh how I hate that phrase.
