As a Gen Xer, I take for granted living through this whole metal era. Soooo glad I got to be a part of it. If you like metallica and you haven't listened to "Master of Puppets", "Ride the Lightning" and "And Justice for All", you owe it to yourself to give them a listen. I don't know how someone can claim to be a metal head and not know Metallica intimately.

Im sorry man respect to you but I gotta draw the line somewhere. The first 5 metallica is required listening to call yourself a metal head. You may have enjoyed some metal before this moment but if you havent heard the band that literally defines the genre you are not metalhead bro. You got some homework brother.

It kicks ass to see young people who have been fed monotone formulaic aural crap most of their lives exposed to some of the stuff I grew up with in the 80's and 90's. You can literally see the effects of their neural pathways being blasted wide open as they hear it for the first time! It brightens my day every time I see another such exposure, because it has been so sad to see rock music shoved to the side in favor of autotune junk for the most part over the last 20 years. I'm not going to say that somebody isn't still making good rock music in 2024, but they aren't getting the promotion the genre deserves. These chaps need to check out the "Enter Sandman" video from the Monsters of Rock tour in Moscow from I think 1991 or 1994 or some time in there - you'll see 1.5 Million people rocking out and Russian military helicopters flying over the venue at treetop level. It's an effing awesome visual to match the incredible stage performance.

Hi boys. (english is not my first language, so mayble I make some mistakes, excuse me)
I watched your reaction and inmediatly I remember when I discovered MEtallica back in 1985 (I was 15 years old) probably like you, and I reacted mostly like Lewis; I felt my mind blow away that day.
I remember the first song I heard from them, it was Motorbreath (actualy it was a copuple of songs from a new band from San Francisco... That's was how Dj introduce this songs) the other one was The four horsemen; So I would be excited to see how a today boy react to that song (or both songs if its posible).

To not react to the official music video with the additional layer and context given by the footage from the movie Johnny got his gun imo is a wasted opportunity, though. It's giving this master piece so much more depth, to a degree it becomes devastating. Even the drums and guitars hit harder... Hope you showed him in the meanwhile :o)
...plus it lets the song appear less long, as it's telling a whole story, even if one doesn't understand the lyrics of the song immediately - the meaning is punched into your face anyway.
And while it's one of my all time fav guitar solos I have to admit when finding Ultima Hypocrita by Mental Cruelty with Yo Onityan's solo at the end I'm not quite sure I can still call it my number one... but actually too different to compare.

You guys should get around to some of their live stuff, particularly anything from the Seattle '89 show. It was filmed during what was arguably their prime playing years. The Justice album is my favorite from them. Something about their guitar tone on it drew me in completely. When it came out, i was just in middle school (6th ot 7th grade). This was the one that got me into metal. Then the Black album came out while i was in high school, and absolutely everyone i knew had a copy. Back then, it felt like Metallica and G-n-R actually ruled the world for a few years. Almost everyone my age was listening to them. It was amazing for bands that got no radio play at the time. All we had was MTV, and they actually played mostly music videos back then.
