What a breath of fresh air you are mate, finally someone posting a video who actually takes pride in what they are doing, and doing the job right the first time... great looking 90 will last you a lifetime 👍
Im due for a full front end re bushing my girls clocked up 500k and i have a tone of work ahead of me so seeing this makes meal feel at ease for whats ahead of me thanks mate great job
Ah, the jack. What a great idea. If you knew what I just did on the first side of my project you would be laughing. So tomorrow for the other side its the jack trick. Thanks for that.
You put the strap as high and as low as you can get it on the spring to keep the spring compressed making it easier to remove the strut. Alternatively you can use spring compressors, but there’s not a whole lot of room in there...
@@bushandbeachaustralia thanks mate, that's what I thought you did, just wasn't quite sure, i`ll give it a try on my kzj95r, its the first time i`ve ever tried this repair, I bought new (cheap) complete aftermarket control arms, so it should be ...interesting. cheers mate
@@bushandbeachaustralia hi again, sorry to bother you, so i had a go at swapping out one of the LCA `s today , i got the two bolts out of the LCA , but the two sleeves the bolts slide through are fully seized inside the control arm bushes and wont let go , i see you knocking them out with a punch at the 8:15 mark in your video, but they wouldn't budge for me any tricks you know of to get them out, i have squirted half a can of crc all over them and gonna leave overnight , but any ideas you know of would be greatly appreciated, cheers mate, buy you beer some day ....when ...IF ... they ever let you poor sods back into QLD.
Nice 90 mate, slowly doing 1 up atm and it's coming along nice, did u install rear shocks yourself and how the heck did you tighten the tops of them..painful process
Thanks Mick yeh I installed mine. It’s pretty tight in there but do-able. If you are turfing the old shocks cut the shaft with a grinder to remove them. Hardest part is getting the Allen key in I reckon!
From memory I put the ring spanner on then the Allen key. Once you’ve tightened as far as you can with the spanner lift it up and reposition whilst keeping pressure on the Allen key so you don’t knock it out. Take plenty of deep breaths whilst your doing it as it’s pretty bloody awkward! 😂
No worries man. These jobs can get pretty hectic sometimes! I’m just in the process of swapping out my water pump. It’s buried beneath the alternator, timing belt and crank balancer. Fun times 😂
This is a great video mate. Need to do the same thing to my 120 and I've been wracking my brains thinking what I should do to keep costs down. Don't want to burn them out cos I know I'll damage the arms in some way. This video is bang on. What have you got on the end of the puller to press in?
MykMallett you are my 1000th subscriber so massive thanks for that! I used a small plate with a hole in the end that I had lying around. It worked pretty well. Good luck with yours 🍻🍻🍻
Car was on level concrete on stands in 1st gear low range with the handbrake that I know works firmly on. Also had tyre under the car as an extra safety precaution. Chocking the wheels could be an added measure of safety but I disagree that what I did was dangerous.
Using the jack is genius! Finally good to see someone who actually cares about production quality with these videos too.
Cheers mate yeh the jack works well as long as the bushes aren’t too seized in!

Thanks so much for the kind words Mark. I really do love my 90!
Very nice job mate. Stroke of genius using the jack. Many thanks for uploading this
No problem thanks mate 🤙🏽

Great detail👍👍👍 be looking forward to viewing the rest of your 90s Prado videos. Thank you !

Great video mate. I got 90 series too. Be looking forward to seeing your work on your car.
Thanks mate 🍻👌🏽
9:24 Im stuck here. Please explain how exactly did you move the steering wheel and the rack?
Good work and done well :)
Thank you bud. Hopefully it can help someone out there.
@@bushandbeachaustralia It will help someone out there for sure :)
Nice good stuff. 👌🏽🍻
Thanks for sharing this
Hi mate, love the video. why do you place the rag over the bushes when pushing them out? is that just to stop them from flying out too fast?
Thanks Dante, yes that’s exactly why I did it. Cheers for watching mate!
And also, what do you wipe on the inside of the control arm where the bushes were? just grease i assume?
Yeh bud just a little grease to help the new ones seat in
@@bushandbeachaustralia any type of grease is ok?
Yeh mate just use a small amount
i`m a bit concerned with the tie downs on the springs, i didnt quite see exactly what you did there, where did the strap go at the top?

You may need to get some new ones bud if you can’t get them out. Can’t help if things are rusted together....

@@bushandbeachaustralia Champion mate, I'll have another crack at it tomorrow. Took me 5 hours and 12 beers to put whole 2" lift kit in (dobinson)
Yep beers definitely help! I had a fair bit of skin missing off my knuckles after doing mine. Tackle the sub tank side first it’s the hardest
@@bushandbeachaustralia Too late..done that side last
I’m finding drivers side bolt is no where near clearing the steering rack got it jacked up still in the way by heaps? Cheers
Hay bud have you removed steering rack bolts? If you have you can gain some extra clearance by turning the steering wheel which moves the rack over
Bush and Beach Australia lol didn’t have long bolt out all the way 😂😂was trippin out cheers for the reply aha

You need to block the rear wheells. If not do it, is so dangerous. The movement can to down the car

If take off the 2 bolts holding on the lower control arm to hub you can work much easier on bench. Working under the vehicle like that can be dodgy.
waste of time ..couldn’t see a thing…should have had a light at least…nothing to see here
Ah well move right along then 👍🏽😂
