Wow. I can’t remember the last time I learnt so much from one video. Adding graphics to my videos always takes much longer than I think it will. This is going to be revolutionary!
essentiol graphics are the best thing in AE, I used it all the time- Thank you Kyle for this wonderful video
Incredible "career-altering advice-per-minute" on this video, Kyle!
🤯🤯🤯 premiere essential gfx panel does so many things now!!! Great tutorial! As always!
Never really paid much attention to Essential Graphics but your video is so informative and helpful. Will take a closer look at it. Thanks a mill.
Definitely a must have tool in our box! I can't live without it!
Also, thanks for the link to the article! Great nuggets in there!
One thing I love is how easy it is to replace all instances of a Mogrt in your Premiere project - for example, the client now wants to change the shape of a lowerthird - I can update the Essential Graphics in After Effects, export, and holding ALT + click and drag on to one example of the lowerthird in the Premiere timeline to replace ALL INSTANCES
Yup. This is great. I never opened this before but now I don’t think I can live without it. Nicely done.
I love a good Mogrt!! This was a great video :)
been using true comp duplicator for making instances of the pre comps... but this is so easy and faster way.. thanks SOM
I might have to retire true comp duplicator. The push pull felt a bit like battle axe overlord , but with precomps
@@gadsby agree !
wow this is gona be a time saver, thank you!
Good stuff, Kyle. Thanks!
I didn't know what the use of this panel was made for, thanks for the video. I will use it in all my projects because, as you say, it saves a lot of time ⏳
This is GOLD!
LOVE IT 😍OMG
This is amazing!! Thank you!!!
11:23 Hooooow did it take me so long to learn this? 😭 First beer's on me in Raleigh next week.
great tutorial.... THANKS SO MUCH!
Essential Graphics is a live saver!!
This video became my Essential workflow ;)
Naaaaah, this tutorial is just too freakin' useful! Congrats and thank you!
ok this is insane
loved it
amazing! thank you so much.
WOW, this is amazing stuff. Thanks for a very useful video. Tahnks a ton!
that's insane...it will chnage deeply my workflow Oo thanks for the tuto...
Thankyou very much for giving it for free🤩
Awesome
I always close that tab and wonder what was it for :O now I have to wonder why nobody guide me that before. It's freakingly useful for my workflow.
Amazing. I learned so much from this single video. Subscripbed
Sending this to my entire team so they can see that last step - so powerful but a little hard to discover unless someone (like you) shows off how powerful it is. Game-changing indeed!
I've lost track of the number of times a room full of great motion designers have audibly gasped when seeing this in action. Somehow still totally flying under the radar!
YASSSS
I’ve been using essential graphics in AE for years and it really is a game changer. I literally preach to my team how powerful it is but when they send me files back I see they’ve duplicated the comps to change stuff and it’s so annoying. I don’t know what it is, it’s like motion designers are scared of it or something. I gave up a while ago 😂
@@Oldyellowbrick We can at least enjoy the comfort of knowing we're correct and they are not. 😁
@@kylehamrickmotion It's like the first time you find the Compositing Options dropdown and click the + button. Entire worlds open up before your eyes.
Yes great I'M using these trick since 3y
That last point looks so useful. I'm going to have to be on the lookout for instances to use this in my workflow, I know I'll be able to utilize this. Re: MOGRTs, there used to be a way to have a hover-scrub preview of the animation in a MOGRT in the Premiere Pro EG panel, but I haven't been able to get that to work for a while now. I wish that still worked! Still, yay MOGRTs and Essential Properties! Thanks Kyle and SOM for sharing these tips.

YES! I intentionally kept this video on the lighter side to help introduce people who'd been overlooking this feature, but @@MographMindset out here doing the good work of deeper dives! 🤝
Me over here wishing with all my wishing power that this new essential property worked with IMAGES. D'OH!!
It does! Media Replacement works for Mogrt creation, but also within After Effects.
In fact, you can create a Media Replacement asset and later fill it with ... another comp. 🤯
I've duplicated a comp that has source text added as a property. When I change that text though it changes it for every comp. Why is this?
Hey, Thanks for the video... Just wanted to know if there is a way to add reset buttons to the properties (Position, scale) in the MOGRT template?
How long has this feature been around? A few years?
Just realized I could have made an ongoing project a lot lighter not duplicating certain comps by using Essential Graphics instead.
My work usualyy doesn't require these functions, so hopefully next time I ermember to use it!
Another lifehack. I have bought a mouse with bunch of keys (5 additional keys and horizontal scroll wheel). There is a soft for this mouse that allows to set simple gestures (press a key and move a mouse left, up, down, right). It is a really simple and easy gesture. On slight move I do any command on my computer, open any folder, do any shortcut, and even do tricky multiple comands like opening modal windows and doing there things. With additional soft I can also set double gestures which allow me to perform up to 625 gestures in any specific application.
All photoshop and after effects shortcut or multiple comands I do in slight move only with my mouse. Yes, it took some time to learn and remember, but now I'm super ninja. I do any work 3 times faster.
Hi, how do you keep responsive timeline for premiere? I made a mogrt but in you to change if I want from 5 or 8 seconds by stretchng on premiere, can someone help me? ty
I was wondering if you can make the mogrt in AE and use in other’s programs than only premiere. Most of My clients dont have the adobe suite.
And i am looking for a way to offer a digital product in which i can change change colors and export multiple gifs/movs very fast. Any ideas 💡??
I have an issue if anyone can help. I've made a mogrt from after effects but it dont shows the option of responsive design time now.
Hello Sir I Wanna Do Some Work On After Effect On My Laptop (HP Pelevin) can You Tell Me That Can I Be Able To Use After Effect On My Laptop
Huh.. even though I've tried many times to get familiar with the essential graphics panel, I never really understood it very well until now. The name is a bit misleading. Why not something more like "Global properties panel"?
I always thought it was only useful for mogrts and I'm personally not a mogrt guy. But I can see this as very useful in many different scenarios. Can't wait to try it and incorporate it into my workflow. Thanks for sharing Kyle!!
Glad it was useful!
for example, if i want make 10 versions of one comp, changing text, keeping the same base comp,. how can i have the 10 version individualy , is it possible? ( am i understandable? not sure...)
Totally possible!
1. Create your base comp. Set up Essential Properties for the things you want to be able to change (text, in your case).
2. Drop that comp into another, we'll call it your export comp.
3. Duplicate this export comp into as many versions as you need.
4. Update that text in each to suit your needs, but enjoy having everything else stay exactly as you need it.
Bonus points - use expressions to link the needed text updates to something like the comp name, and you can save yourself a couple steps!
Tried to export a mogrt, but the keyframes keep getting "left behind". They won't export along with the other properties, so when I use on Premiere Pro, the shapes are not animated. Help!
If you have keyframes on a property, you can't send THAT property through and retain the keyframes.
What you can do, however, is use an Expression Control (like a Slider Control) to add to the existing animation. You'd need to create a simple expression on the property, something like "value + (pickwhip to that slider control)"
I'd recommend checking out some more in-depth Mogrt creation tutorials. Mograph Mindset and BallerFX both have some great stuff.
200 iq+ 🧠
So here is the gotcha with Mogrts. They work great until you want to edit, or add something from the original AE file. Then you have to jump through a whole daisy chain of import and manual replace. It's honestly a ball ache.
It's a good reminder to really dial things in BEFORE you get to that step, and make sure you spend the time to understand what's actually needed - that said, I agree there are a few more steps to that exporting process than I'd like. 😉
@@kylehamrickmotion You can dial it in all you want but when the client comes back and says 'please can we left align the text' you're screwed 😂
@@steve708822 Heh. Not *screwed*, hopefully, but yes iterating on Mogrts can get a little tiresome. I'll again stress that it becomes a lot about managing the process and the client's expectations, and working with everyone to establish functionality before you even begin. I know sometimes this is challenging, as they often don't really know what they want! 🙃
