Thanks a lot. This is what I have been looking. It's difficult to look for hours of footages and edit this in After Effects. So, I will be using Premiere pro for editing and AE for effects and animation.
So these are actually the same thing. However, when you click the "make an AE composition" it both creates a new composition, imports the footage, and then creates the dynamic link. If you have already created an After Effects composition, you can then import that composition using the import->dynamic link buttons!
hi there. please tell people that they have to have the latest afx and premiere ( same year ) otherwise they might not be able to get the assets from premiere to afx. One thing I would like to know if when you are dont with the project, do you have to save both the Premiere and After Effects for this particular job? thanks for clarifying.
Hey there, yah, it can definitely run a bit slower. However, typically just having them open won't be too bad. If you are doing something intensive and try to switch to the other, yah everything will be slower! You can also close out Premiere while doing the after effects stuff and vice versa. Once they are linked, they don't have to both be open!
Hello, I was finished in after effect but still wanted to change up some things in my video. Do i have to keep after effect open the whole time till i export or can i close it when i am done with after effect but not the video?

@@Mr_Swannn you need that exact same version of both. If you have premiere pro 2017.1 for example do some research and find out which month it got released. Then find the version of aftereffects released exactly the same month. That should work
I got a question for you, when I right click on my edited clip in the timeline in PrPro and select "replace with after effects composition", AE opens and prompts me to save a file, but after saving the file what loads is a different clip than the one I am right clicking on and selecting the replace with option, any idea what's going on? I'm sure im doing something wrong
@@AdobeMastersOfficial I didn't even notice this at first but on the premiere end after clicking "replace with after effects composition" and returning back to Pro I'd have a error window up that said "The importer reported a generic error". So I'm guessing that's part of what's wrong. I spent a bunch of time googling and the only thing I found that worked was to export that clip, and reimport it into the main timeline again, which kind of sucks because that adds a bunch of time to the workflow process.

I have a question: What if you took a certain clip in your sequence, did the "replace with after effect comp", added all the animation in after effects, then, you realise that you need to modify this clip in the sequence (you need it shorter or longer or you need to cut 2 sec in the middle. Im very angry with this workflow, because if you color grade with master clip, then you lost the color grade in AE. And you neither can to color grade with master clip after you have passed to AE the Premiere clip. Adobe its very confusing

So glad to help! :D Yah, essentially you are trying to put effects in after the edit. Most of the times the VFX isn't story important. So editing the scenes together can give a better idea of how you are going to do the VFX!
This may be a dumb question, but what do you do if you tale your clip from premeire to after effects, and you just get a black screen in the display of after effects. i tried rendering the clip, i check out all the settings, and the clip is just not appearing in where it normally would.

or you could have one main comp in after effects and put the other comps into the main comp once you are done editing them. same thing

so can't I just highlight my entire adobe project and open it in after effects?
You can, like he said you would import the entire project into AE and edit from there, versus clip by clip.

@@bloqqmayus in that case, you'd wanna make sure you do your color grading on an adjustment layer so that it won't be affected by AE

Yes, as After Effects saved it, Premiere is just able to grab that project file and After Effects doesn't need to stay open for that.
Everyone has an Ae or Pr tutorial, but no one mentions where you begin and what order you do things in. This information was really helpful.

No, you don't have to keep it open! If it's off it will pop up, once you are done, you can close it again.
