Are you a wizard or something? Your understanding of lights, shadows, reflections always amazes me. What a great attention to little details, which I personally never think of before looking at the realistic result of your work!

Except his shadow placement makes absolutely no sense based on the angle of light on the model. The penumbra and shape of shadow is also very unrealistic.

Mind. Blown. And yet again, we are taught that Curves Adjustment Layer is king. It's all I use now in both Photoshop and After Effects. And After Effects has some pretty solid colour grading effects. But once you get the hang of Curves, you can make it do SO much. Another absolute banger of a tutorial.

Just to nitpick here :) I'm a professional photographer and looking at that photo the shadow from the sun would fall left in front of the girl on the floor, not on the wall. The only shadow you would see on the wall would be a soft shadow from the softbox used coming from the left, and the shadow would be on the right side. Great techniques shown though!

Hello Unmesh, For the past 3 year in college I’ve been watching your photoshop content and tutorials and love the way you teach your topics. I have an entrepreneurship class that tasked us to come up with a hypothetical business. I chose to do one focused on teaching graphic design shortcuts for Adobe programs. And since your such a wizard with photoshop I thought I’d come to you asking for your thoughts. Do you have a list of your most common photoshop shortcuts you use in your workflow? Thanks in advance. You’re one of my idols

Unmesh, I love your work, and you have taught me nearly as much as my face-to-face Photoshop guru Jerry Jividen, but I'm having a real challenge with that primary shadow. Actually, with any sharp shadow that's created in this manner (and I agree that the shadow needs to have sharper edges under these conditions). My issue is that it just jumps out at me as being obviously manufactured from a 2-D cutout rather than projected from a 3-D subject upon which light is falling. For example, the fingers. There is a slight space between the shadow of the index finger and the middle finger. That space is there because WE can see the same space on the model from our point of view. But the light, falling on her from the side, will encounter a different profile, and there would be no space. Even more telling is the spot where her jacket is bunched up on her shoulder. If you look at the model, the bunched-up material clearly has the shadow of her neck falling on it. Yet on the wall, there is a considerable distance between the shadow of the bunch and the shadow of her neck - when that should be an extension of the same shadow that is on the figure in that spot. It just jumps out to me. I realize that the purpose of your videos is to get us started exploring the principles behind the functions of Photoshop, so not everything can be covered in any single video. But I must ask if this would be a worthwhile subject for further exploration. How would one go about manipulating a manufactured shadow to make its tiny details more realistic without distorting it so much that the overall illusion is sacrificed?
Another thing which comes to mind - and this may be because of mine experience in the paint manufacturing industry, where I actually make pigment dispersions on a daily basis and do weathering tests on coatings - it immediately stands out to me that a "one size fits all" texture is manufactured, since different-colored paints on the boards of the background are not going to weather and crack in the exact same way. I'm wondering if there's an easy way to turn a copy of that pattern fill into a mask or series of masks to which we could apply differing blend modes or opacity levels, giving each color's flaking pattern its own distinct-but-subtle difference?
