i usually use hue/sat, exposure, color layer, etc and my man only use one curve. damnnnnn, changed my life in just 9 min youtube vid
Right? For so long I was using levels, hue/sat, brightness/contrast, photo filter layers. He's got me not just using, but also understanding curves. And what's extra awesome about it is, what applies here in Photoshop, applies in After Effects when you use a Curves effect. I've been kicking ass with just Curves for colour grading in my motion graphics comping now.

I'm a fashion designer, and after I do shoots of my product on models, sometimes I will alter colour options on samples. Unless I reshoot the product, I have to colour alter the garments in photoshop to match the new sample options. It has almost always been an impossible task to make perfect. You my friend, ARE A GOD. I've been using PS since its invention, and this technique is truly a holy grail. I cannot thank you enough!

I can't tell you how many time I've fussed with the hue/saturation tool + different blending modes in an attempt to match colors perfectly. This technique is a game changer to me. It also makes me realize that I need to start looking at my tools in a different way because I would have never started off with the curves tool in this situation. However, it's clear the curves tool is (probably) the best tool for matching colors like this exactly. Thank you for teaching me something new today!

Many thanks for the [hand] + shift-alt click to get the "info" window to display colour sample values. That was a functionality that I missed with curves adjustment layer which forced me to use the curves (since with curves, the coloour window gives you the colour valus of a poimt and you see it change as you move curves). Always great to learn new tricks from your videos.

By the way, I get confused with all the different key combos options that are available while using curves. It seems that you always find a new way to target/select/create a color/curvepoint/luminosity value. Is there any video or website where are these key combos are summarized?

So this works well if the variation in brightness and saturation are comparable, sometimes the balance between dark/mid/high skews strongly one way, so you might need to maneuver that a bit first. And nothing can really make it look right when there are texture issues between metal and wool etc.
