I’m on my third Droplette in less than a year. The company has replaced it free of charge every time with no questions asked, which is awesome but it tells me they’re aware of a design flaw. I do love what it does for my skin but I’m not sure I will ask for a replacement another time. I hate to be a downer but just wanted to give honest feedback. If I’m the only one this has happened to I’m glad.

Yes, Julia! This is the same for me. They are perfectly aware of the design flaw and at this point promoting this device is a shame and frankly irresponsible. It does little to nothing for skin and it's only a matter of time before it breaks, you waste all kinds of product and then the replacement breaks.... it's ridiculous.

However droplette stands behind their product and has replaced each and every one. It's frustrating that this happens. I find the glycolic caps to be a culprit in clogging the device. I have to use a cleaner cap after unlike the other products. However I will continue to use the device as long as they maintain this great customer service.

  • @Revivserums

It is the case that THAWED conditioned media -- as a raw ingredient -- is "only good for a couple of weeks." HOWEVER once such an ingredient is properly incorporated into a finished good -- with proper preservation and stability in an emulsion -- its stability and efficacy is always MUCH LONGER.
Many to most raw ingredients supplied by ingredient manufacturers are shipped to us finished goods manufacturers in cold packs or freezer packs. They almost all have a relatively short expiration/retest date (less than a year). Once the ingredient is properly formulated into a finished product however, the individual ingredient expiration dates become irrelevant.
Even just logically and empirically, cosmetic growth factor products clearly have efficacy over many months when stored at room temperature -- even just going on visible results.
Droplette's growth factor package has a "Most Effective Before" stamped date of 6 months, and they state "For longer-term storage, store capsules in your freezer for up to 6 months PAST THE DATE STAMPED ON THE BOX SLEEVE."
Droplette provided their ELISA data related to a new/fresh package. It would be relevant and useful to know the ELISA data on a capsule at one year. It invariably should show potency and efficacy after one year. While freezing the product may help maintain some additional potency, that in no way implies that other cosmetic growth factor products would dramatically lose their potency at room temperature.
Reviv's Ultimate Serum, through FACS flow cytometry histogram, shows growth factor cytokine potency through a PAO (Period After Opening) of 12 months, properly stored at room temperature not to exceed 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit), including the stability and viability of stem cell growth factors EGF, VEGF, VEGF R2, SOX2, Alpha-Fetoprotein, E-Cadherin, GATA-4, Nanog, Oct-3/4 and others.

      Laura Libner - Exactly!
I won't be reordering the 'growth factor' set of skincare I've been using - which I learned about here on Penny's channel. I wasn't noticing any difference in my skin, anyway, over and above any moisturizing effects in skincare I've used that don't contain 'growth factor'...and now I know why!
This extremely short half-life for growth factor ingredients have to be a matter of common knowledge amongst the people behind skincare products marketed with 'growth factor'.
IMO, this is simply a marketing gimmic, much the same as skincare with 'stemcells' - but of course - botanical stem cells, totally unlike human stem cells, and which do nothing for human skin. Once we figured that gimmic for what it was...along comes 'growth factor.' 🤨

Exactly what I was wondering 🤔 Since it was somewhat emphasized that "their" growth factors have this limitation, I wonder if others do not. Along the same line, does that imply this one is more efficient? I thought of it in my mind as the difference between L-ascorbic acid and shelf-stable vitamin c's, or Tretinoin vs retinol 🤔 All good, but some more efficient than others. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So interesting. I think Anteage also gets their growth factors from Hope. I always thought growth factors in airtight pumps were good for a year after opening but apparently not. Wow, if that’s the case paying $200 for a growth factor serum that is only effective for a few months max seems insane. I would push back a little on that based on experience using growth factors from airtight pumps after medical microneedling or lasers. When ive used a growth factor product after a procedure, it has definitely reduced downtime and most of the time the growth factor Im using has been opened longer than a month.

I was one of the first customers after you did your first video on the device. I had to switch it out once when it started malfunctioning. I use it intermittently now bc they came out with the Tranexamic acid pods which encouraged me to pull it out again. I clean it every 7 uses, downloaded the app and switched modes, too. I’m typically incredibly diligent and consistent and the “user experience” is so dissatisfying that I’m discouraged in using it. It literally behaves and sounds and performs differently every time I use it so it feels like it’s not efficacious anymore. After seeing a couple other RUclipsrs using theirs recently, and noticing how much better their new devices performed than mine, I reached out to the company about whether they offered an exchange program, like switch out your old device for a new one for a fee, but they said no. As much as I’d love to try the GF’s I can’t take the risk, at that cost, that my device is performing sub-optimally. I have a feeling it will wind up collecting dust in a bin somewhere soon which is really a shame considering how much I spent on it and the pods.

They are NOT helpful. The customer service rep told me I should expect my "model" to have some leaking. The unit is dripping. At their request, I sent a 9 minute video showing the device leaking and the rep said I was holding it wrong. I was not. I asked her to provide the timestamp of when I supposedly did this. No response. I opened a collagen capsule and it was less than half full before even being inserted. I even offered to return this device and pay full price for whatever "model" they are selling that doesn't leak All of your recommendations are top notch so I thought you should be aware of what the average consumer is experiencing.

It doesn’t deliver all of the product without leaking and then the unit runs blowing nothing but air. I haven’t seen any results. I’m disappointed. I am interested in trying the growth factor, but at the price it’s offered and the issue with leaks, I’m not going to. I’m glad it’s been beneficial for some, but for me it’s on a fast track to a landfill. Again, I’m disappointed. It wasn’t cheap and the capsules weren’t cheap. I’m chalking it up to a loss. 😢

Never saw any results, and I wasn’t expecting a miracle. They did not offer any solutions. I even offered to ship it back due to landfill waste and they said don’t bother. Super disappointed. The cost of this product is just absolutely absurd. Truly. I spend money on skincare and, basically, consider it healthcare so I have no problem spending money on things I truly need done. But since I haven’t seen much improvement using the collagen treatments, I see absolutely no benefit in spending this obscene amount of money on a second product from Droplette.
I also have a follow-up question for Penn, she’s basically just said that if growth factors aren’t kept cold that they’re useless if you buy them sitting on a shelf. Penn, how do you square yourself with the fact that you’re selling and promoting other growth factor products that are NOT in a cold line process like Droplette. She’s basically said those types of products are useless. Yet you’re promoting us buying them at $100+ per product. Is she correct, and we’re basically wasting our money (-a lot of money considering these are ALL very expensive products)?
It’s becoming hard to trust your recommendations when such blatant contradictions occur.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE

You heard that at the same time I did.
I have followed up with the maker of reviv (the only growth factor product I recommend-that is under $100 btw).
Reviv counters droplette that GF is indeed stable when in a formulation with preservatives etc.
I did this video to get clarity. I did this video for my community who had questions. If you think that THIS video somehow makes me less trustworthy then by all means, follow another esthetician.
I share things I learn as I learn them.

Well I asked this of my favorite GF brand (Revivserums) and here was their answer:

Colleen colquhoun - 'they wouldn't put the old (defective) inventory on sale, would they?' HA!
Excuse my cynicism, but just the opposite has occurred to me, after viewing this video.
They are offering the device @40% off , as an early Black Friday deal. This caught my attention bc I've been debating whether to buy Droplette, but have been waiting for a Black Fri sale.
My impression rn is that if they have knowingly been selling defective devices for a year or two (or more), then...
(just my opinion, of course) why wouldn't they be offering their inventory of defective devices at a deep discount, now that the device has been reworked?
I do realize that they have 'great Csx and are readily replacing defective devices', no questions asked, But...
      1) with what?...another defective device?, and
      2) Are they compensating customers for the wasted pods (and inconvenience) caused by device breakdown?
I realize I'm playing Devil's advocate here and being quite cynical.
But this whole issue about defective devices has me wondering just which device is on sale @40% off...the original device or the newer one without the bugs?
Now, learning about their clearly defective devices - especially after reading many of the comments here about repeatedly broken devices and wasted pods due to device breakage, I feel completely turned off of 'taking advantage" of that Black Friday deal!
