    This is very compelling research, but I wonder, what happens to the cancerous cells that were turned into senescent cells to protect us? What happens to the process? Does os-1 bring the senescent "zombie" cells back to life to create a new "Frankenstein" problem, or will the body be able to discern? ... I have my coffee ready to go, I'm heading over to the blog right now to find out more information. As always, Penny, thank you for being at the forefront of these developments and passing on all of this information to us in a clear and concise way.

    I've been waiting for a "One Skin" review from you. Been using it for a couple months. I'm seeing great results; smoother, firmer, more youthful looking skin, and it appears to gradually fade dark spots as well. I have both the body lotion and facial lotion. I use them judiciously, as the products are very pricey, but worth it. The cheapest, most effective way to induce autophagy (the recycling of damaged or senescent cellular organelles), is by doing a fast. There are different levels of autophagy. The deepest, chaperone-mediated autophagy, can be achieved with a 24-48 fast, not recommended more than once a month, and something one needs to build up to gradually.

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  2 года назад +4

      I’m so excited that you’re seeing results!
      I’m so interested in the lifespan subject-and I’ve been binging David Sinclair (among others). It appears that adversity is key (which I’m sure you already know) and no doubt 24-48 hours of fasting would be adversity for me! 😂
      But seriously, I’m going to continue to study this because it’s truly fascinating.
      I agree on building up to a fast-I’m going to start with simple intermittent fasting-like 12-12, shooting for 8-16 (I think. I’m definitely not an expert in this in any way).
      Thank you for being here ❤️
      I love this conversation!

    • @LPD15ponce
      @LPD15ponce 2 года назад +4

      @@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Thanks for the reply! You are right about adversity. They call it the hormesis effect (low to moderate stresses on the body or system, provoking a beneficial response, which ultimately makes the system stronger). Weightlifting would be a good example, where you breakdown muscle, and it rebuilds bigger and stronger. I can definitely say that with intermittent fasting, the more consistently you do it, the easier it becomes. I'm a big Sinclair fan! As I'm over 50, I follow some of his protocols for sirtuin (longevity genes) activation; resveratrol and NAD+ supplementation, low dose metformin( 1 gram) daily to suppress blood glucose levels. My main takeaway from David Sinclair is that you can have growth ( mTor activated, which is just protein synthesis signaling), and you can have longevity ( mTor suppressed and AMPK activated, which is a signaling pathway to suppress cellular growth), but you cannot have both all the time. Solution...cycling periods where you can have the benefits of both.

    • @LPD15ponce

      @@leahgolden7242 Hi, if you're interested in healthy aging and longevity, I would recommend David Sinclair's "Lifespan" podcast series on RUclips (ruclips.net/user/DavidSinclairPodcast). David Sinclair is the Director of the Harvard University Laboratory on Aging Studies. He's a native Australian and one of the unintended benefits of listening to him is his calming, pleasant voice. Another RUclips channel for all things intermittent fasting and keto that I follow is Thomas Delauer. Here's a short video of his titled, "Over Age 50 Intermittent Fasting: Complete Benefits Guide" ruclips.net/video/la1Whdc5EHw/видео.html. There are a lot of sources. Additionally, for books(longevity) I would recommend "The Switch", by James Clement (everything you want to know about mTor), and (for healthy aging, especially for women) "Glow 15", by Naomi Whittel. If you are interested in longevity resources or supplements, two I like, although not cheap, are agelessrx.com and renuebyscience.com. If you're on a tight budget, here's a video by Dr. Michael Lustgarten, P.hD., in which he discusses natural foods which contain different flavonoids that inhibit CD38, a glycoprotein in the body which breaks down NAD+ (you want to preserve NAD+). He gets a little deep in the biochemical weeds, but if you hold out until the last few minutes, he lists those foods( black elderberries, blackberries, dried Mexican oregano, celery seeds, radicchio, Black Sorghum) ruclips.net/video/q-3GmgWO03k/видео.html. Hope this helps!

    OMFG I was senescent glued ( pun intended 😂) to the screen! This information is truly fascinating to me. It's the first time I've heard of these cells. I've got good skin overall for my age. I'm 60 and worked and played outside in the Australian sun most of my life. Definitely all my teenage years and into my 30s. I remember using SPF when I was a teenager because my skin is courtesy of my English heritage so I easily burned. Skin acclimates though and I stopped using it. Growing up in the 70s was all about getting lying on the sand at the beach to get a tan and many of us used oil. It was PROMOTED as was smoking which I did until 3 years ago. My only real problem is lost volume and the lines above the lips and some on the chin. I have good elasticity and no sagging. My neck is still good too. If I could find something to help the lines above my lips I think I'd cry. I spent 5K on fillers in 2015 which worked brilliantly on them. Really softened them and of course my lips looked great too. Thank you for sharing this amazing info. I'm off to read the blog. Cheers Penn x

    Fascinating! Thank you for learning all this and posting it. There’s lots more to learn about microcurrent as well. Microcurrent is restorative the to the skin. Microcurrent is healing. I used microcurrent to heal a torn rotator cuff. I had an MRI that showed it. The doctor wantedTo do surgery. I use the microcurrent for six weeks. It was healed completely. I also use it to heal a torn meniscus in my knee. That only took four weeks. There’s so much good about microcurrent! The reason I learned about it is I owned a skincare business that only did microcurrent. I sold that business and I’m retired.
    The business I started called supreme skin is thriving! People see results in one session and can purchase a package of treatments. We emphasize that aestheticians know the muscles and how to work them. Even if people do microcurrent at home they will have better results with a well trained aesthetician.

    Great review - I am so pleased that you are covering the science behind OneSkin. You succinctly made understandable the scientific key elements of OneSkin's proven reversal of cellular senescence. I love OneSkin's OS-1 Face Supplement and plan to incorporate their newly released OS-1 Body Supplement into my skincare routine. I'm proud of the truly international female empowered advancement in the longevity sciences. I can't wait for the OneSkin products and scientific findings to become truly mainstream.

      I have no doubt that it works, but my concern is that it targets just one part of ageing - cellular senescence. What about other pathways? If it’s patented and only available in this product that means that most people will still have to use other ingredients and multiple products.

    • @lucienlacroix2933
      @lucienlacroix2933 2 года назад +2

      @@AussieChick48 I've only used OS-1 Face for about two (2) months, so I cannot say that I have documented any noticeable changes yet because cellular turnover when in one's late fifties takes about 45 days. However, it's a great light moisturizer and I am excited, based on the proven science, to continue using OneSkin - extend to fully body use - and know that i am reversing cellular senescence. This is just one more thing that I can do, which I know is great for me, even if I cannot yet see the immediate benefits ... similar to using Retinol. 😊
