I put a spray tip on the Niod copper peptides bottle. A couple of sprays on the face is all you need. There is less “waste” and it lasts much longer.

Lavender oil actually is a collagen builder. I’ve used it on burns and it takes away the pain and the skin heals much faster so we shouldn’t shun lavender oil if we are not allergic to it.

Great video as always! I buy two bottles of the NIOD CAIS copper peptide during their annual sale, keep most of it in my small skincare fridge, and then I use it all year to boost each bottle of my Ordinary Buffet And Copper Peptide. I stir it in very well once there’s a little room for it. I like the consistency better that way and the affordability factor vs using just the pricey, watery NIOD copper peptide alone. I’ve been alternating Tretinoin .1 and The Ordinary Buffet and Copper Peptide each independently every other night since I read that they don’t play well together and that strategy is working quite well. Very interesting to hear that Tretinoin can be layered with copper! Thanks, Penn!

Penn, You are most certainly on the path of combining light with use of copper peptide serums. You mentioned the interest in health as well as skincare. Having just turned 65 myself, I'm using a patch which is based on reflective light, which stimulates the copper peptide and 80 double-blind studies prove the body re-generates our own stem cell production. You likely use the X-39 patches already as I see you realize the basics. I'm thankful for your talks on copper, as I happened on them seeking to amp myself up on the benefits of what I'm already doing and you hit the mark.

I am so happy I found your channel ❤. This is an excellent overview of copper peptides. I especially love your analogy of peptide weight and how to know if it’s penetrating your skin. I never really understood that before. I have tried copper peptides from Niod and the Ordinary. I like them both. However, I’m currently using a product from Dr. Pickart called Skin Biology. I chose this product for several reasons. 1. Dr Pickart was essential, if not the person, in the discovery of the benefits of copper peptides on the skin. 2. You can choose products with higher levels of copper peptides as your face acclimates to copper. 3. There are products formulated for the eyes and hair too.
Also, if you are a person like myself who is concerned about occluding the benefits of your led with certain products, I would recommend that when you use your copper peptides in conjunction with your device that you are using one that is largely water based. I could be wrong about this. It is only through my lay person research that says products on your skin can block red and near infrared light. It could have also been debunked at this point, lol.

Thanks for all your wonderful reviews. I have been using copper peptides for over a year. I use NIOD ‘s CAIL. I know you had issues with it, but it works well for me. It is a very tiny tube filled with gel. You only need a tiny amount because it glides over the face. It is very expensive but one tube lasts me over three months. I have a very thin face and it is supposed to help build volume. I think it has for me but it is so subtle. I use it at night and wait about 20 minutes before using retinal.
You have been very costly to me but it is all worth it. I use the Droplette, red light, microcurrent and just started using Qure’s micro infusion.. I have been using Truth NRG but just bought the Ziip because you think so highly of it. Thanks for all your valuable information. I am 78 with no sagging skin or wrinkles. Phyllo Heller

Let's both write into Derma E & ask them to bring it back! If enough people do, they might consider. But if it didn't sell well, then I doubt they will. I buy their glycolic toner, & I like it, but I also like switching it up. I'm kind of surprised that that is the only toner that they sell. I really want to try Paula's Choice toner that has niacinamide in it, the ingredients look great.
I am confused though what toner ingredients wouldn't be advisable to pair w/ certain actives.

Thank you So Much for this video, I was literally just having all these questions going round my mind about copper peptides! Are you reading my mind dear Penny!? Lol!
I just read somewhere that snail mucin also has copper peptides in it, & I have added that to my daily routine. I was wondering if applying that, & then one of the copper peptides you mentioned, overkill, or ok as well?
And I'd bet that many people who use snail mucin are also using ascorbic acid, not realizing that the copper peptides are being cancelled out with that combination.
I just had recently bought the Derma-E DMAE & Copper PCA, not knowing that it's not a "true" copper peptide, (thank you for clarifying that); With that said, can I use that & then also layer one of the copper peptides you spoke of, on top of that?
Once I'm done w/ the Derma-E one, I was thinking of getting a stand alone DMAE, & then layering one of the copper peptides that you mentioned on top of that, would there be any contraindications with that combination?
Lastly, I am confused about the
pairing of toner ingredients, & then layering other actives, worrying about contraindications with that.
      Any advice on that?
I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering. Would you please consider speaking to that in one of your videos?
Thanks for all of your expert advice! I always look forward to your newest video! May you & your family have a blessed Christmas!🎄✝️

The OG and my ride or die is Dr Pickart's 2x Super Copper serum. Just a few drops mixed in with a serum is all that is needed so a bottle lasts a long time.
When discussing actives and what can or cannot be layered together, my main question is how long do actives stay active? There are some products for which it is suggested that you let them absorb completely and dry down before applying another product. But, when using Vit. C or acids, how long before they are neutralized enough to not adversely effect a different active? An hour? 6 hours?
The reason for the question - some days that are very busy, I may use an acid toner, Vit C and a moisturizer in the am. But a few hours later, I may have time to do a bit more. Would it be safe at that point to use copper? Or other peptides that don't play well with acids or antioxidants?
Great video on the importance of copper!

Just wanted to try what is out there and see which works best. So far Niod is my favorite. Did NOT know could use with Retinal. Did know that I couldn't use with L-Ascorbic acid (cause I watch your videos). I can't use Vitamin C (L-ascorbic) every day. Breaks me out and I'm almost 60. So I have Vitamin-C routine for 3 days of the week in the am and a Copper Peptide routine 4 days a week in the morning. Tend to think of skincare like I do nutrition: can't eat just nuts, just fruit, just carbs, just protein, etc. Need some of them all for optimum nutrition. That's my approach to skincare. Copper Peptide gives 'bounce' to my skin. It's amazing.

I tried the Derma-E with Copper product and liked the pore tightening effect very much, however I only care about that during the day, when Vit-C is the more important preventative in my routine. I would rather prevent damage than just cover it up. But that was probably more due to the dmae, which tightens pores immediately. I don't know what the copper was doing, since I didn't keep using the product long enough to see anything other than immediate effects.
After watching this video, I'll consider adding either the Ordinary or Complete Skin Solutions products to my evening lineup in case there is some longterm benefit. I've got so many products in my evening routine already though that I don't know if I can bear another! These $20-30/m increments really do add up. Thanks for this video and the suggestions though. You've definitely helped me consider this ingredient more clearly than ever before.

Thank you Penn for another great video. 😊 I really like the fact that you can use copper peptides with LED, do you think it’s ok to combine them with green tea as I know that’s also really beneficial with LED?

Hi, thanks for all your videos. Don’t feel overwhelmed when listening to you. I am hoping this comment gets an answer. I have suffered from prolonged grief disorder (been depressed for 20 years) and have suddenly woken up and now I’m old! I need a very simple routine because I just cannot manage much. I have enlarged pores (nose and cheeks). My mind is so distorted that I honestly don’t know what to use and how. Once again thanks for your videos.

I'm so glad you mentioned the Derma E DMAE serum as I was interested in the ingredient deck and had been using that as my copper peptide serum, rotating it with the Ordinary CP serum. Now I'll know not to use them interchangeably and to consider the Derma E as more of an antioxidant serum...I have really been enjoying it though. But will stick with the Ordinary or one of the others you suggested as my CP serum.

I’d love to know what type of copper peptide is in the complete Skin Solutions serum. It’s concerning they refer to it simply as “copper peptides”, not by the actual derivative type. There are a huge number of cheap serums being marketed as containing “copper peptides” without this being supported on the ingredient list. Also the Needless serum has copper lysinate…unsure whether that’s the same as copper tripeptide 1…or as effective?

I find that most serums and moisturizing creams/lotions are made for younger skin but what about aging/elderly skin. Years ago skin care targeted very mature skin (because younger women weren't looking after their skin because they were young) but now skin care is targeting young women's skin and they have forgotten about more mature/elderly skin. I've looked after my skin since I was 15 and that's why it looks outstanding now at age 66 so I see the logic however I now need a moisturizer which doesn't seem to exist any longer such as Helena Rubenstein, Max Factor, Elizabeth Arden, Estee Lauder and DuBarry. The creams were heavy at one time for a very aging skin but we still need those creams if you're pushing elderly and/or elderly. I think it's partly oil that is missing like castor. What do you think?

I started using copper peptides on your earlier recommendation. When used at night, my skin looked noticeably glowy and bright in the morning. It really makes your ski. look pretty. I was using CAIS but didn’t like the watery formula. I just got CAIL instead, but never saw you mention CAIL. Have you tried it and just prefer the CAIS? How much stronger are these two products as compared to The buffet? Thank you! Looooooove your videos!

So I don’t love the CAIL (for my skin) for some reason but SO many others absolutely adore it. It’s a great product.
I totally get not loving the watery texture of the CAIS….makes sense to me too.
The CAIS is double the strength of the buffet + COs but honestly…..the buffet + CPs has an overall more impressive ingredient deck! 💙

Im 52 yo and so overwhelmed with all the actives touted as "must use". But there are so many that shouldn't be layered together. So my must haves are some type of antioxidant (right now Im using Vit C /L- ascorbic form) and hyperpigmentation serum in the AM and Tret in the PM. What actives do u consider "must use" and when (am/pm) ? Does LED create heat to aggravate hyperpigmentation?
One tip on dispensing serums. I dispense to a small dish , then seal the bottle. That way my hand doesn't quickly absorb serum before it gets to my face

    • @PENNSMITHSKINCARE
      @PENNSMITHSKINCARE  2 года назад +3

Honestly you have the “must haves” (I sort of hate to use those words….but I know what you mean) already!
If you are trying to *help* clear unwanted pigment you could also incorporate DNA repair enzymes at night…But honestly, you’re good as you are (with SPF top of course). 💙
