I got my 2017 scat charger 3 years ago now. What I did was: oil catch can, bigger throttle body (85mm), Mopar cold air intake (for looks), wider tires than stock and muffler delete. Simple and inexpensive. Also do have opti-coat pro ceramic coating and the tazer. Best car I've ever own. Such a blast to drive.
@Mikeman Jordan honestly probably nothing noticeable because i did it pretty much right away. I would guess if anything 10hp tops. I have not tuned the car either.
With a 392 the real gains will be seen with weight reduction and getting that torque on the asphalt. Sticky tires and stiff rear suspension will go a very long way, plus trimming fat where you can.
stiff suspension on rear? Why do i hear to put suspension on street and not sport or track mode on these scats or 392 to get better launches? Don't we want soft suspension on rear so it can sit when we launch?

I cant wait to see it go !!! 👊👊👍👍
Hit the like button even before the video started. Knowing its gonna be a honest and interesting vid. Traded the scatpack in for a cadi ats-v, but still tuned into the channel. Always will love mopar. Maybe hellcat a little later. Keep the vids coming man.
Great vid. Just rented an R/T. Surprised at how much fun that car was. They quit renting SRTs claiming people best them more than the Camaro or the Mustang. And that's crazy because I did 9 runs in a rented 2019 Camaro 2SS 10 auto at the track. Ran a 12.3@115 1.7 60ft on street tires. 20lbs rear 35 front.
Weight reduction and better tires will have the easiest results in adding performance to a scat and letting you push it harder. Most other hp mods either don't add enough hp for the cost or cost too much at which point you should get a hellcat.
I just did this last weekend. I just unbolted that adapter from the headlight. There are 4 little bolts easy to get to. Lifted that intake piece up and the 2 screws were easily accessible then.
IMHO, the only ported TB worth stepping up to is the fully bored out 84mm by Fastman. He even removes an extra 4mm from the front bar on the butterfly valve for a true total 88mm. MMX only bores before and after the butterfly so I don't see how it has any gains.
Great choice... I am running the same TB. And jlt air intake. And jba cattles mids and just installed a full drag pack aslo jms avengers..and its a huge difference... love your vids keep up the good work. Can't wait to see the challenger hit 11sc pass 💯

Awesome video as always! I’m actually picking up my first scat pack tomorrow and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s a 2018 Destroyer Grey Charger with 275s. I’m in Texas also and was wondering who do you recommend for Mopar tuning? I’m in the middle of nowhere so I’m willing to drive to DFW, Austin, San Antonio, etc
I have a 2016 5.7 Shaker and had to pull out the air box and drill the 4 holes to put the push pins in. The back of the headlight is a little different in the my Shaker.
I went with Sparcos race buckets on my 6spd Hellcat. Rear seat delete and no carpet or panels in the trunk. I will go to a light battery when it's time at only 7lbs. I will go to light bumper supports already have the front to put on but it will be nullified by a race heat exchanger.i already.have just not put on. The heat exchanger is to help during roll racing. Will eventually do the carbon trunk and possibly roof.
Nice video, curious what the car ran at Test N Tune so we can compare before and after. Was she on the stock Pirelli all-seasons before this? I know I can't hook without the DRs.
First thing take the factory mopar intake off. In the summer just pulls hot air. Why? Because it sits on top the engine like an oven. Ours picked up by changing it.
I think this link has the Mopar cold air box air tube part number. www.moparpartsinc.com/p/Dodge__Challenger/Headlamp-Duct-Tube-conducts-cold-air-from-the-headlamp-port-same-as-Hellcat-to-the-Mopar-Cold-Air-Intake-System-77070043AC-for-64L-engines-or-77070044/68846708/77072385.html This tb probably won't throw codes. I have a true 85mm on my scat and have no codes. Fastman 84mm doesn't throw codes either according to those who have them.
2 questions: did the factory 392 airbox have the port for the hellcat intake tube already? and will there be a problem with rain getting in to the throttle body by using this?
Aaah I didn't think about water..it may tend to get the filter wet ? 🤔 I wouldn't want to use an oil based filter either (like K&N) because I found that with the air being pushed down in the intake..the oils slowly went with it over a sort time I had oil residue in there that was building up dirt along
Cool videos, I just bought a 2020 charger scat pack. I'm loving it so far. Coming from a 13 mazdaspeed 3 that was pushing 400whp and 365wtq on the dyno fully bolted on e30 tune. It's my first v8 car and I love having all the extra room. I'm trying to get 500 miles on it, so I can use the launch control lol. I've seen someone wrap heat shield covering the inside airbox and intake part of the hood scoop for their Scatpacks, I'm sure it's possible for the T/A hoods. Lower the Temps possibly, from all that engine heat. Also I'm thinking of doing something with the 12 inch sub box I put in, taking too much space 😄
Love it! I actually added to the tube to the air box and ordered a throttle body from the fast man for my Scatpack. Very interested in more mods for this car to see if they work out for myself
Was wondering that when he mentioned the end links. Getting all my research in prepping for my 1320 and will probably start buying some goodies for it soon
Interesting. Years ago, I almost bought a shaker RT plus but it was bought before I called. I eventually went with a bare bones 2015 RT because the price was just too good to pass. But I always thought the shaker scoops sent air to the top of the engine. But I see it's just more air to the intake. I did the Hellcat mod to my car and also removed the passenger plug in the headlight for extra air. And the scoos actually sent air to the top of the engine. One of the best things I did. Wasn't as loud as the CAI filter but definitely felt a difference when driving, especially during hot weather.
Great tips racer X! Which air box and filter do you have? I’m going to order the tube for the ram air and want to make sure the air box fits well with it, so I don’t have to drill a hole into it.
Just got me a 2019 Challenger Scat pack widebody... loving it. The headlight ram air idea - any concern about bugs/debris? Great tip on the headlight ram air tube (ordering one now) Throttle body may have to wait for a bit. I enjoy it as it is now. Maybe if they have it discounted, I'll pick one up. :-)
I really enjoyed this video, I like the way you held your cool when you can tell working on stuff like that is very frustrating, but you just kind of laughed it off,I would never be able to do that, good job! Now you can make another video to show it off, and I can’t wait to see the next video😀👍🏻,curious how much horse do you think you gained, do you think at least 15 horse so the thing might have 500 horse now? One more question, sorry to be a pain, do you think I can get 315 tires on my stock hellcat wheels? Or do I have to buy new wheels? Because I’m throwing those 315‘s on my widebody I think it will look really cool and handle better, have a good night watch you later
Jay B .. if you’re running a widebody 315’s should fit fine.. they will not fit on the 9.5 standard wheels that come on the regular body hellcat. The car might have gained 6-8 hp realistically.. it’s not much 👍
Doing the exact same mods to my 2020 challenger scatpack. They're sitting in the garage right now just waiting to hit 500 miles. I would love to hear your thoughts about the built in dyno the car has
Another great video Brother! Now that it's been a week since you posted the vid, how do you feel the 392 is running with the 87mm ported versus the stock throttle body? I've been digging into this and there's mixed feelings about whether or not you need a tune with this 87mm addition. It seems to me like it's right on the line and likely not needed... and you always do what's legit with your homework done in advance. Also, I just ordered the Hellcat Airbox as well for my SRT392. What kind of air filter are you running here? Appreciate your feedback. Cheers!
I got hellcat air filter for mine hopefully get the front runners soon i also take the other head light cap off when im at the track good 11s coming soon my best 11,91
Anbus 101 underneath the air filter it still drains right out of the car .. The tube actually flows into the bottom of the airbox which works out great since water can’t travel upwards 👍
@Jose Carranza Polio depends , let’s say you only do a Throttle body upgrade and a cold air intake . You don’t necessarily need to go out and spend on a tune yet since those two mods alone won’t put on a lot of horse power. But if you let’s say add header exhaust upgrade and go catless on top of the tb and cai then , it would be in your best interest to tune right after installation because it can start throwing codes and throw other electrical components out of line if you drive it like that. Then if you keep adding more mods like then you just keep updating your tune as you go
What size tire can or have you put on Mrs. X's 392? The 245s are ridiculous but not sure how much wider we can get on the stock wheels? 275's on all 4? Thanks!! Be well and stay well!!
I did a search for 'scat pack air box intake tube' and found this: www.moparpartsinc.com/p/Dodge__Challenger/Headlamp-Duct-Tube-conducts-cold-air-from-the-headlamp-port-same-as-Hellcat-to-the-Mopar-Cold-Air-Intake-System-77070043AC-for-64L-engines-or-77070044/68846708/77072385.html?partner=googlebase_adwords&kwd=&origin=pla&partnerDevice=c&userLocation=9033662&gclid=CjwKCAjwqdn1BRBREiwAEbZcR27xjrJlzwLNRrPNJZ5scA7p13uET9NQJgdAJ6XIITDcM6iLYDSoahoCkc8QAvD_BwE
I drive a 2018 392 Daytona Charger and the stock tires just slip. I need bigger tire to hold the power so it can launch me. Maybe I need more weight in the rear too?
Wish you would have done this at the track - one mod at a time, then make a run to see individual gains. Too many "opinions" on tube you with ported TB's actually gaining without a tune - benefit of front runners...etc...etc
I'm pretty sure he mentioned several times that these mods were "incremental", showing very little gains individually. Most guys don't want to spend all of their track time dicking around with mods between each pull.
she is going to love the et street r. I put mine on yesterday - bone stock '17 scat shaker - 305 et street r on 18 inch rims - 0-60 went from a best of 4.4 to 3.8 seconds - no burnout @ 25psi on the street. Totally different car now! Wish i would have done this first day i bought it. 1st gear dead hooks!
That’s weird with the headlight plugs, on my 2016 it was just two clear dummy lenses that just popped out. I did the headlight tube as well but I did it the hard way apparently, I took out the whole air box and drilled it and attached the tube with the plugs, I wasn’t aware of that easy way! Lol
RacerX, I love your videos. I'm about to buy a challenger v6 for insurance reasons but do you know if the air intake bulb plug comes out on the SXT v6 too?
Nice video. I'm looking to trade my 16 Mustang gt in for a SP. I can't decide if it's worth it to get a 1320 or WB or just stick with the standard 392? I really like the 50th too, esp the WB version, but too pricey.
@@blacksrt3791 I don't know how accurate it is, but from my research the WB is about 0.2sec quicker and the 1320 is in the upper 11's which is a good 0.5 faster than a standard scat. Of course this is stock cars with stock tires. I know the stock scat is quicker with bigger sticker tires out back. IDK, its a tough choice. I mean the 1320 is really the best deal for what you get and would be the cheapest the way I would option it, but I would most likely have to replace the tires with some AS for daily use. The standard is the best looking IMO as I could get the caramel seats and the brass monkey wheels, but it would be a little pricey the way I would option it with auto trans, plus package, HK, dynamics and adaptive damping for sure and maybe a few other options. I like the WB's look from the front and back, but it does look a little weird from the side and would be the best handling of the group, but it may look funny with skinnier wheels for the winter too.
Hope you guys enjoy this one.. let the fun begin 👍

Were your wheels the 9.5 or 10.5 width?
Interesting. Years ago, I almost bought a shaker RT plus but it was bought before I called. I eventually went with a bare bones 2015 RT because the price was just too good to pass. But I always thought the shaker scoops sent air to the top of the engine. But I see it's just more air to the intake. I did the Hellcat mod to my car and also removed the passenger plug in the headlight for extra air. And the scoos actually sent air to the top of the engine. One of the best things I did. Wasn't as loud as the CAI filter but definitely felt a difference when driving, especially during hot weather.
75 nitrous shot would be great. I'd love to see it. Really wake up that motor. Just use it from about 5k up to keep that big TQ spike to a minimum.
Would a spacer next to the throttle body help at all? Thanks
Great tip on the headlight ram air tube (ordering one now)
Throttle body may have to wait for a bit.
The car might have gained 6-8 hp realistically.. it’s not much 👍
What does a TCM tune do for the performance? I like firm tire chirping shift points..does TCM tuning do that?
Would love to see a twin turbo setup. Dare I say it will make more power than hellcat
ck out Mod2Fame
he doin a hellcat twin turbo set up atm
Yes for about ten minutes but unfortunately the thin ring lands (Smog design) in the pistons can't take more than 5-6 lbs.
What is the benefit of going from a 20" tire to an 18" or 17" tire--does it change the differential ratio?
It just adds 3 more inches of sidewall area giving you a much better launch than the 20" wheel. Both setups are still the stock 28.5" height.
Dope video as usual and great content. I’ve added the ram air system to my charger and gone with a potted throttle body. Next is tune. 🔥🔥💯😈
Doing the exact same mods to my 2020 challenger scatpack. They're sitting in the garage right now just waiting to hit 500 miles. I would love to hear your thoughts about the built in dyno the car has
How’d it turn out
Another great video Brother! Cheers!
I run the hellcat box myself, and use the OEM hellcat air filter. It’s got an insane amount of airflow compared to the stock filter in the scat.
I got hellcat air filter for mine hopefully get the front runners soon i also take the other head light cap off when im at the track good 11s coming soon my best 11,91
Pretty good times, man
Great videos man
Did you have to do any tuning after the throttle body? How does it feel with it on now?
The shaker is already ram air. This just makes it better
I have a 17 scat pack shaker. They didn’t have those two little screws for the headlight intake on my year. Whew 🤪
Do the throttle bottle keep your car under warranty still
Great video buddy keep up awesome content 👍🔥🔥🔥
Hey racer x what did you use so u could run the 17 inch tires ?
Hey Mister x I like the tube that goes into the air box but quick question here..... How is rain going to affect this??
Anbus 101 underneath the air filter it still drains right out of the car .. The tube actually flows into the bottom of the airbox which works out great since water can’t travel upwards 👍
RacerX is the air box the one that comes stock on the Scat Pack or is the Hellcat air box?
Thank you, I ordered this part for my scat shaker and too had this concern.
In theory you have to tune the car for those upgrades to actually do anything
@Jose Carranza Polio first you mod then you tune
@Jose Carranza Polio depends , let’s say you only do a Throttle body upgrade and a cold air intake . You don’t necessarily need to go out and spend on a tune yet since those two mods alone won’t put on a lot of horse power. But if you let’s say add header exhaust upgrade and go catless on top of the tb and cai then , it would be in your best interest to tune right after installation because it can start throwing codes and throw other electrical components out of line if you drive it like that. Then if you keep adding more mods like then you just keep updating your tune as you go
"we're gonna make the car faster" -- to which no man said no ever
How much did you wind up spending on these mods? Also, with it be worth having your current rims widened, or buy new rims to fit wider tires?
A lot!
What is your feeling on an oil catch can for the 392 Shaker?
In hindsight do you have to take the screws out or just rotate the light caps? It appears that they just spin in from you holding them in your hand.
What tires was she running before when she raced the c7?
This was a much needed video!
Old vid but you got alot of potential getting good views compare to the sun count that’s good
What size tire can or have you put on Mrs. X's 392? The 245s are ridiculous but not sure how much wider we can get on the stock wheels? 275's on all 4? Thanks!! Be well and stay well!!
im curious if that make shift ram air hood will allow water from rain into the filter? ive always wondered about that on all ram airs
What's that ram air tube called? I tried searching for it and couldn't get it to pop up.
What about when it rains, won’t water go into the air box where the intake is?
Great videos! I'm awaiting delivery of my 2021 Challenger Scat pack shaker widebody. Do you possibly have a link for that air tube on Amazon? Thanks!
Can you point me in the direction for the cold air intake tube from the headlight? I have a 2020 dodge challenger scat pack non wide body
Wish you would have done this at the track - one mod at a time, then make a run to see individual gains. Too many "opinions"
on tube you with ported TB's actually gaining without a tune - benefit of front runners...etc...etc
I'm pretty sure he mentioned several times that these mods were "incremental", showing very little gains individually. Most guys don't want to spend all of their track time dicking around with mods between each pull.
Hey Racer X what was the time at the track in the 1/4 mile with the mods you did in the scat pack? Thanks
I'm at that Summit all the time, would love to meet you guys!
What about the rain getting in ? From the front tube from head light ? Thanks
Did any of the sensor lights come on after changing the throttle body? And if so how were you able to take it off and clear it?
Do you now have a million bugs stuck on your intake?
A B. Mason ported intake next?
Lol .. we have discussed it 👍
have an R/T 345 do you think it’s worth it putting this tired
she is going to love the et street r.
How do you add the air intake pipe from the Shaker hood to the air box. Mine came without that hookup.
I have a 2010 Challenger. Wondering if that ram air set up would work?
I have a 2021 scat pack and I've looked on Amazon and can't find that ram air part to push air to filter. Would you have a link? Thank you
That’s weird with the headlight plugs, on my 2016 it was just two clear dummy lenses that just popped out. I did the headlight tube as well but I did it the hard way apparently, I took out the whole air box and drilled it and attached the tube with the plugs, I wasn’t aware of that easy way! Lol
Great content!
How did you get the headlamp screws out? Im using Hex Keys but its not catching well on the turns
RacerX, I love your videos. I'm about to buy a challenger v6 for insurance reasons but do you know if the air intake bulb plug comes out on the SXT v6 too?
Racer X, what size ported throttle body would be best for Challenger widebody 2021? What issues does that implicate for the warranty?
Nice video. I'm looking to trade my 16 Mustang gt in for a SP. I can't decide if it's worth it to get a 1320 or WB or just stick with the standard 392? I really like the 50th too, esp the WB version, but too pricey.
Doing research and videos standard is king spend extra on good tires
Wb is slower and 1320 is overkill but won’t be any faster
