Can we get a comparison? Canyon vs. Trek Vs. Specialized? Every Company claims to have the fastest bike. Most of the content is just advertisement nowadays. Zero Value for the viewer
And for the most part the comparison Bike Radar would give would have zero value as well. As not only do we not ride in wind tunnels and instead ride through the real world where all air currents are turbulent and not streamlined like a wind tunnel. What you might see as one bike over another at 15 degrees of yaw in a wind tunnel very well might be the exact opposite in the real world as the air just passed through some trees and grass before even contacting your wake and then bike so all these micro eddies that no normal wind tunnel will account for. Also, does it really even matter now? All these aero optimized bikes are within 5-10 watts of one another even last generation, this generation they're looking even more similar. All have the dropped stays. All have the integrated no external cable bar/frame. All have revised tube shapes done by CFD which likely yields very very similar shapes even if each of these companies all run independent modeling. Basically it comes down more the solutions to issues than ultimate 'most aero' bike. Hence why Canyon noticed this and put in the adjustable bars, the quill like stem, not running wings off the front fork to integrate into the downtube to build a stronger and more compliant front end... and on and on. All those are aero and weight compromises. But if you have to know which one could be the fastest... just wait for Tour's aero bike test.
@Stonecorner what models are you comparing? If its comparing aero models for each brand i think it would be Canyon Aeroad VS Trek Madone VS S-Works Venge. If comparing climbing i think its Canyon Ultimate/Endurace VS Trek Emonda/Domane VS S-Works Robauix/Tarmac.

I don't really need dura Ace as I'm not racing and ultegra di2 is more than enough. Had a chance to try sl7 and it really is game changer unlike the new emonda which felt slow for me.
I think canyon will probably merge the aeroad and ultimate lines when the aeroad's weight drops to 6.5kg without pedals. Reasoning being that the pros will then hit 6.8kg with pedals which is what they have to race with anyways.
Cockpit is 37 grams lighter and saves you 3 watt, but most riders can’t adjust it to their preffered measurements. Does your body position make the most aerodynamics due to frontal area? Weight and watt savings are normal these days but this is shit! I think this isn’t really smart. But, it looks quite good😉
As somebody still growing-up you may have to adjust your cockpit several times... but as adult? I would expect everybody investing 7000+ into a new bike had a bike-fit and several bikes before and knows his measurements...
Thor Dyrden, yes but as he said, you are a bit limited in the adjustment of the cockpit. Therefore I mean the rise of the stem and the length of the stem in combination with the width of the handlebars. I am riding with a 130mm -17 degrees with an 40mm handlebar, can’t really see how I have to fit that with the limited options you’ve got with the new system.
@@daanlaan9954 The stem mounted can be adjusted +-20mm in width and as I recall 15mm in height. But you can most probably order different cockpit dimensions in first place - at least the old cockpits are e.g. available in 130x410mm and then you can still adjust this. The angle can't be changed though - but that is probably true for most integrated cockpits... if you need that you will have to stick with a regular aheadset for most flexibility and a less integrated bike.
The CF SL framesets use the CP0010 aerocockpit - which is currently specced on the Canyon Ultimate. It's a standard integrated handlebar, without the adjustable wings and the quill stem arrangement.
I bought a cf slx in 2015. It would cost me more now and I’d end up with a lower spec cf sl ..... was a big canyon fan when they came in and disrupted the market but I’ll stick to buying second hand from now on. Built myself a sub 6kg Evo Hi mod with Red 22 and shimano c24s for just over £1000 last year. I would go back to paying full price if there were enough differences in the same price range that I payed for my original canyon but Like I said I’d be getting a downgrade.
We need an old and new Aeroad comparision on aero efficiency! Can we have it?! Don't want to pay extra price if new one only 5watt efficient in 100km distance :)
Simon is 183cm tall, which is just within Canyon's recommended height range for the new Aeroad (178-184cm). That said, Simon says he would prefer a slightly longer stem than the stock 100mm option or, alternatively, to go up a size if he was buying the bike himself.
A little irked by all the weight comparisons made between this (the CFR) and the old SLX. They still make an SLX version of the new bike - seems like a little bit of an unfair comparison. Still a great looking bike.
Bike Manufacturers should give the end user the option to run External Cables Routing. Having to disconnect the brake hoses to change the Headset Bearings. And that would be quite frequent given my experience with Cayon using Acros shitty bearings!
If it creates negative pressures in certain wind directions, wouldn't it create drag in other directions? Your comment of "being a handful in cross winds" exposes that.
Love the black, but I'd love if they (or even all other brands) also offer pro team colors as an option. Who wouldn't want to ride in the colors of Valverde's blue and black Movistar bike or event van der Poel's white Alpecin-Fenix bike?

Why are people so upset that bikes are getting heavier. The idea, that a bike need to be 5.5kg is absolutely pointless. When the rider weighs 65kg, and has 4.5kg of equipment on him (bottles with water, computer, clothing, shoes, helmet, spares, food). You have 75kg system (at best). Saving say 1kg there, will save you 1/75 or 1.33% on the weight. That means, climbing a steep climb at 350W, this saves you 4.7 Watts. An aero bike will save you multiple times that at Race Speed over any pure climbers bike.
Hi Jim, we can confirm it's not a crack - the headset spacers are made up of two separate parts that interlock, so you can add or remove them without having to disconnect any of the internally routed cables. Hope that helps!
Maybe you think the aero bike is already dead? Or do you think aerodynamic optimisation is everything? As always, let us know in the comments!

Did nobody notice that the tires aren't mounted properly? The GP 5000 have a dedicated rolling direction .
Its a shame that you cant choose a specific crank length.I ve ordered the Ultegra di2 but will have to change crnak set from 170 to 165
The true one bike to rule them all
I think canyon will probably merge the aeroad and ultimate lines when the aeroad's weight drops to 6.5kg without pedals. Reasoning being that the pros will then hit 6.8kg with pedals which is what they have to race with anyways.
how many stem lenghts is there to choose from.- Thanks
I don't like the glossy black on the front head tube... I also wish there were better color options on the top end.
May I ask how tall are you? I would be between an S and M size, being 1.80m tall, so just wondering knowing you were reviewing an M size. Thanks!
Does this move you around if yorue riding in a 5mph wind day?
Is there a clip on bar that will fit on this model.
May I Ask What Bike Size was Used in the Video? 😁
@bikeradar what is the height of the presenter and the frame size of the test bike?
Very few riders in the US care about the UCI weight limit. On domestic races it's irrelevant as long as the bike is safe.
1:10 - how short is that chain cut 😲😲😲
Nice have you looked at Fuji Tran Sonics 2020 or 21s
What handlebars are used on the cheaper models without electronic shifting
The CF SL framesets use the CP0010 aerocockpit - which is currently specced on the Canyon Ultimate. It's a standard integrated handlebar, without the adjustable wings and the quill stem arrangement.
Very Impressive
At minute 13:13 (lucky number), he always got a rabbit hit! Lucky rabbit. jejeje. This bike is incredible.
before i die wanna ride this bike like for a day
Kinda sad that intergrated cables start at 5K
For sure...wonder if anyones done a bodge job with a drill
well at least it's much cheaper than the competitors like Specialized and Cannondale
Does it have a press for BB or threaded? What size.
It has a Shimano BB86 press-fit bottom bracket.
Good British English. Soo easy to listen to.
We need an old and new Aeroad comparision on aero efficiency! Can we have it?! Don't want to pay extra price if new one only 5watt efficient in 100km distance :)
Tour Mag will do it.
Does it have the seatpost issue?
The only thing I don't really like about this bike is that the fork looks cut off at the back, at should be at least as thick as the seatpost
The bike looks a size smaller then "recommended" for the riders height. Am I correct?
Simon is 183cm tall, which is just within Canyon's recommended height range for the new Aeroad (178-184cm). That said, Simon says he would prefer a slightly longer stem than the stock 100mm option or, alternatively, to go up a size if he was buying the bike himself.
A little irked by all the weight comparisons made between this (the CFR) and the old SLX. They still make an SLX version of the new bike - seems like a little bit of an unfair comparison. Still a great looking bike.
Pity it's another disc only bike. Would be nice to have a rim brake option.
13:12 dam squirrel lol
Bike Manufacturers should give the end user the option to run External Cables Routing. Having to disconnect the brake hoses to change the Headset Bearings.
And that would be quite frequent given my experience with Cayon using Acros shitty bearings!
Did u mentioned giant german bike giant?
When bikes are blacked out they could be $1000 or $10,000 and they both look awesome
Aeroad is the sexiest bike! Fight me!
3:41 That's rough buddy
That grouse was nearly DT Swiss cheese! Good save...
Sorry the Squirrel..
Wow! Lighter! More aerodynamic! AND MORE COMFORTABLE????
If it creates negative pressures in certain wind directions, wouldn't it create drag in other directions? Your comment of "being a handful in cross winds" exposes that.
Beautiful 😍
Has he got his tires on right , I think they are facing wrong way
Screw these greedy paid promotions.
CANYONEROOOOO (canyonerooooo)
bike looks amazing but the cockpit is not for me, looks way too small on the steerer tube, and you can't even use an aftermarket stem anyways
Does anyone know what's size is a 52 in cayon ? The go by xs,s,m,L
Size 52 is a XS on Canyon
@@felipemunoz1099 How tall are you felipe?
@@xaviertirado7516 I'm 180 cms (5.11") and I ride size 56 (canyon size M). My inseam is 83 centimeters
@@felipemunoz1099 Felipe, are you still happy with size M? At 5'11 we are between size S/M Canyon told me..
Love the black, but I'd love if they (or even all other brands) also offer pro team colors as an option. Who wouldn't want to ride in the colors of Valverde's blue and black Movistar bike or event van der Poel's white Alpecin-Fenix bike?
My next dream bike...
Not exactly a "review". It is just marketing hype I can find out on the Canyon website.
it does sound like a load of crap to be sure

@@bikeradar I didn't accuse you of being biased. All I am saying is that you repeated their talking points but didn't really interject much of your own opinion or how you feel it stacks up against other comparable bikes. I prefer watching your videos because they are typical more "real" and us average joes can relate to. This video is just not an actual review.
@@DaveCM Hi David, Simon from BikeRadar here - how much of the video did you watch? I get properly into my ride impressions/review around the ten minute mark. I appreciate that's the second half of the video, but as this is a brand new bike there's a lot of info to cover that I felt was relevant as context for the review. Cheers.
BikeRadar
This is a great review, and actually goes deep into ride impressions and bike specs, and does not seem like a marketing hype video at all. BikeRadar is one of the few sites that still provides great content. Keep it up!
7.3kg no pedals = 9000€
Bikes are getting much more expensive, much heavier and harder to maintain... 😩 And everything is proprietary...
It's heavier because it's a aero bike, not a lightweight bike
7000
Why are people so upset that bikes are getting heavier. The idea, that a bike need to be 5.5kg is absolutely pointless. When the rider weighs 65kg, and has 4.5kg of equipment on him (bottles with water, computer, clothing, shoes, helmet, spares, food). You have 75kg system (at best). Saving say 1kg there, will save you 1/75 or 1.33% on the weight. That means, climbing a steep climb at 350W, this saves you 4.7 Watts.
An aero bike will save you multiple times that at Race Speed over any pure climbers bike.
In the real world aerobikes is the best for sure
The front tire is actually mountet the wrong way round
What is the riders height in this video?
Simon is 183cm tall 👍
Honest review by me: it looks like a buffed muscle man with small head (cockpit)
end~
Was it a crack on those spacers?
Hi Jim, we can confirm it's not a crack - the headset spacers are made up of two separate parts that interlock, so you can add or remove them without having to disconnect any of the internally routed cables. Hope that helps!
