- Some big news about the Factorio DLC release time!
In a recent interview someone did with Kovarex, the lead developer of Factorio, Kovarex mentioned October as the latest planned release time! There was also some other great info on the interview about the expansion as well.

Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.

Guys I just activated space exploration mod and Im playing it , I discovered all my plants in my solar system and all stars , but not thair solars, so do I need to active more mods to experience these encient planet with thair encient technology's and structures or I just need keep going to be able enter another solar system to reach that ?

Literally me. I always get stuck between blue and purple science but I can't wait to get this DLC
@@jacobmerrill693 frankly upping resources, lowering biter aggression to almost a minimum, and then playing with a bunch of mods has honestly actually helped me finally launch a rocket
Don't worry I have an this game from early access and I still haven't launched a rocket this game is so versatile and there is sooooo many different ways to play it as an example I don't care for efficiency but I love the trains and mass factories

I've beat k2 but either it's some weird lingo or I'm just forgetting something
Just googled it. 248k consists of four stages which get bigger in scale and complexity until you can craft the 248k element at the end to win. To me, it looked about as complicated as angel/bobs, though i didn't play 248k

I just got into factorio and I’m very excited! Although I have no clue what’s going on lol. But the space exploration mod and the space expansion dlc seem very incredible and I want to play them

I'd definitely recommend just waiting for the dlc at this point, rather than playing space exploration mod. I'd saying learning the base game well, and such until the dlc comes out will probably help you enjoy it the most :)
@@Xterminator honestly I’m pretty confused about the differences between the mod and the expansion. I think I heard both of them are made by the original developers of factorio? And the content will be kinda similar? Any good resources out there to explain some of the background of this stuff for either the mod or expansion? Thanks!

Bruh they done made Space Exploration a DLC. i hope they got the original mod author to help
@@SkollTheWerewolf They actually hired him on to the dev team I think about 2 years ago now. He's had a huge hand in development for the expansion. :)

@@XterminatorThe devs mentioned yesterday some 2.0 to-dos are being pushed to 2.1 to make it happen in time. Which is honestly fine with me, as long as we have 2.0/SA to play with in the meantime. 🎉

Does anyone know if this full update is coming to the Nintendo Switch? I love playing it on there would be gutted it’s not released for switch
Sadly it's not, at least not with the initial release. If it does, it will probably be quite a while until they do that unfortunately.

I do hope they don't rush anything and take their time to refine the expansion.
Id rather wait till next summer than get it unfinished.
Just like with the 1.0 release. They planned ot for a date, but spent about 10 more months on just bugfixing and optimization.
And thanks to that, we have a game we can play with dozebds of people, and millions of itens/entities on the map, and the most lag causing source is your internet connection. Not the game.
So it's going to be an easier space exploration then? Cause we can already do all that through SE. But if it's going to keep vanilla recipes shoot I can launch a rocket in 4 hours from burner drill start.
essentially yeah more akin to vanilla, but more polished with each planet having a unique mechanic (instead of space explorations's new resource -> new production line progression)

I know youre not a dev, and I can just not be lazy.... however, I have only just started playing about a year ago, whenever dosh uploaded his space exploration video; Will there be the need to create an entire new save to play the dlc? I'm asking on the basis that this would be somewhat similar to bigger updates in the past, tho it would be understandable if this is completely different.
If not, ill be spending the next few months making a factory to solely incorporate the new dlc.

Just finish your current play through and start a new one once the expansion hits. You will be able to apply all the stuff you learned immediately and you will reach the rocket stage much more smoothly.
from what ive seen, the "space exploration" part of the update/dlc is actually a seperate gamemode, so you'd have to start a new game in that mode. just an educated guess off what i roughly remember from the dev logs though

It was worked on by the people who worked on the Space Exploration mod, I believe.

This is a full expansion pack.
The base game will get all the quality of life changes while the expansion pack has all the extra content(space stuff)
Thank god its a dlc, ive been worried it was going to be a full 2.0 and would ruin the game i love.
It IS a full expansion, but I guess you meant like a Factorio 2 release and not version 2.0. The base game will get all the quality of life upgrades while the expansion itself has all the extra content.

SE just makes the treadmill longer. The expansion has numerous mechanics that make the game more interesting even before you get to space.

i don't agree with this being new info at all. We had 1 year estimate since late august 2023 (first fff of 2.0), so august 2024 would be 1 year, and not even 2 months later the release is so common sense window release to think, no need for any official statement that says the same. We just had another one confirmation that the date of release is still scheduled in a year since the first fff. I already was thinking the final release was gonna come before or about october 2024, it was just obvious unless a real new info was revealed (like an unexpected delay)
I would kindly disagree with that.
I have been with Factorio for almost 10 years now, and many many updates/releases, and the devs have had a pretty consistent track record of giving an estimate 8-12 months out and then just a couple months before the previously estimated time, announcing like a 6 month delay past that original estimate.
So while yes, this does still basically align with their estimate from last August, I think it was new worth mentioning because based on most of the past large releases, that is not the norm for them to be on schedule with their original estimate.

I doubt it. Space exploration is more of the same in a slightly different setting. It just makes the treadmill longer. The expansion has many new mechanics that make it more interesting. It's going to be a much better game.
The dev of space exploration is also one of the lead developers working on the expansion, so I wouldn't worry too much about the quality if you enjoy SE
