Elischa B then you must not own the mini because it’s footage is very good. And RUclips uses compression so I wouldn’t take anything from RUclips to judge how well footage looks. My m2p footage looks better than the mini’s but look at the price difference.
I just updated the firmware on my mavic mini to be able to set manual exposure and shutter speed and iso on video and yeah I absolutely love the footage that comes out of my little bird 😄 a couple of days ago I flew over a reservoir and it’s natural fiord like side arms and I was far up in the air and flew backwards in sport mode the footage looks so awesome 😍😍

For those of y'all wondering why the mavic mini looks better than the others.. It's because it's not a pro level consumer drone. Dji perfected the auto mode out of the box. Wherlese the mavic air 2 and mavic 2 pro are pro consumer level drones. It's not really meant for auto mode , you'll get the best out of the best of the drone using manual and DLOG or CINELIKE That's meant for those whod spent their time colour grading.
I think the combination of having the Mini and 2 Pro in your kit is fantastic. The Air 2 looks like a great little drone, however for me it's neither below 250g nor fantastic in image quality or stability. Thanks for the film Aldryn 🔥
I own Mavic Mini and Mavic 2 Zoom. The features are better on the Air 2 compared to the mini, but make no mistake the Mavic Air 2 is not in the same category as the Mavic 2s. Look at the features from have a screen display on the Mavic 2 controller, waypoints, flying in the wind, and other packed features not found on the Air 2 or mini. Nice upgrade for sure and I must admit that a below $1000 price point for the Air 2 combo is a great deal. DJI knows how to make us think about if the drone you own is still in the game! Happy flying and don't think to hard about what you own.
Thanks for a wonderfully helpful review. The Mavic Mini for me as an international traveler is by far my choice over the other two drones. The Mini's quality is phenomenal for it's price. I was watching your video on a Macbook Pro Retina, 15 inch screen, sitting close to the screen. My impression of the image quality of the Mini is that it is very acceptable compared to the other two, that cost double or triple the price. The quality of the more expensive drone images is NOT twice as good as the Mini, even though they are 2 to 3 times the price! As well, remember that a traveler may have more difficulty getting the larger drones though airport customs and meeting various country regulations when trying to fly them. The Mini was specifically built to stay under the FAA requirements for licensure (at least for now). Thanks again for a super video!
Wow watching on a phone the mini hands down had the best looking picture to me, it’s more vibrant and punchy looking to the eye , I thought the mavic air 2 and pro looked very pale . ?
The "cinematic" is just as much of a fad as the oversaturated "vivid" used to be. Both look very unnatural and every "pro" now over flattens the curve in an attempt appear professional.
Hello Aldryn, their comparisons are the best on RUclips. The images placed side by side clarify all doubts. I suggest you use a decibel meter in the next comparison to assess which drone is the loudest.
At first glance the Mini looks the best, but then the closer you look the more you see issues with exposure and color. On top of that you don't have nearly as good of post processing options with the video files on the mini as you do with the others, so the Air 2 after post processing can look much better than the mini... still, I love my mini and have tried to convince myself I need an Air 2 (unsuccessfully so far). Great comparison video, best one out there!
I don’t have either and tried convincing myself to get the air 2, I even purchased it and then got a refund 10 minutes later. I decided it’s my first drone I’ll see how I like it and how much I use it and save myself almost 600 bucks!! So hopefully I love it haha
Great idea but the clips are displayed for a very very short time. A static scenario (drone sitting on a table or whatever) would make it easier to compare.

Still very new to the sport, but the Mini video looks best to me. I am always astounded at how little difference there appears to be between the higher priced drones vs. the Mini and the Spark. I'm sure the difference is HUGE for professionals who know what they are doing, but for me, it's hard to justify spending the extra $$.
The MM is great if just a bit too much contrast and saturation. The M2P was crystal clear. I am depressed, however, at the footage by the MA2. I should be getting mine this week, and up until now most the of the comparisons I have seen seemed to be very close. In this video the M2A looked to have a very soft focus, which I thought odd for a fixed focus lens. I guess at half the price you get what you pay for...

Taking the price aside, I don’t see the point of Mavic Air 2. I own the Mavic 2 Pro and I absolutely love it. Then I bought the Mavic Mini to travel real light with my family and for bike trips. The size of the Mavic air 2 is almost the same as the M2P, so why I’d buy it? (Again, put the price aside) I’m a photographer and videographer, and I can say that you can make really pro video with the Mavic Mini, of course, taking into considerations many Light variables, and setting up correctly your camera (ISO, shutter speed, using sunshade, and ND if necessary)
If you are a professional and for some reason need the better resolution and post processing capabilities, get the Air 2. If you are like most of us and post videos on youtube, facebook or just show them to friends, there is no reason not to go with the mini. You might be able to show off an more expensive toy, but there are no real benefits for the normal guy.
The worst part of the mini is that you have to do all shots yourself, with the air 2 its supereasy to get butterysmooth panning shots, circling and so on since you can do it automated. So for the normal guy the air 2 has very many benifits, for the good flyer who can do the shots themself, not so much.
Another great video Just goes to show how capable the mini is even just in auto The MA2 is definitely the next step up and would probably fill the requirements of most people Just think what the MP3 is going to be capable of when it finally makes an appearance

Mini is a lot more saturated out of the box so it would be a lot harder to grade in post but perfect for beginners. Air 2 and M2P shoot less saturated and have more dynamic range. After a colour grade in post the Mavic 2 Pro is the clear winner, has the best dynamic range but wow that Mini is doing a fantastic job especially at how cheap it is and not even shooting 4K out the box
I bought the Mini fly more for CND$600 a couple of months ago. The Air 2 fly more is over CND$1400. For that price gap, there just is not enough difference to justify the up charge, in my opinion. I'll add the ND filters, do a quick manual adjustment, and call it a day!

It's interesting to see the color tone differences in all three...the greens are all very different, some more muted like an army green on the Air 2, and on the Mavic Pro 2 much more vibrant, and the Mini was even more vivid. Wonder why they can't have matching color schemes, like cameras do....all Fuji cameras are known for their greens, while Canon does reds better etc... BTW, you didn't have labels for what footage was what in the second half of video after the sponsor message, so it was a guess as to which was which!

Lyn Smith When watching on a phone / not 4k, it’s easy to think that :) On a bigger screen and in 4k there is a big difference. Also, the mini appears to have lots of automatic processing of the image already, which makes the colours look brighter / more saturated - the higher end drones, just like cameras, leave this up to the user / after shooting. The mini is definitely great though.. but there is a fairly big difference.
Great video. Could you do a photography comparison between mini and air 2? Especially hdr video on the air 2 and hdr photo and 48mp photo. And is there noticeable low light improvement with the slightly larger sensor on the mavic air 2?

The mini footage looks awful when you look at it on anything else than a smartphone. The footage is grainy and has way to much saturation.

Look closely and you'll notice, the horizon is clearer on the Mavic Air 2, than the Mini, that's dynamic range, something Mini doesn't have enough
The oversharpened image and colors on the Mavic Mini makes it look ugly to me. With D-cine like and color grading, the MA2 competes with the M2P.

you should do a low light comparison, where the 1inch sensor from the mavic 2 shows a lot better use than mavic air 2

A test with cloudy sky! That's great! I think you can really see how the camera perform in cloudy better than full sun

it's a known fact, but the problem is that you can't reduce the level of sharpness in the video, it's always better to sharpen it in post production.

I found I actually preferred the Air 2 over the 2 Pro in most of those last examples!

Been waiting for this one. So happy I bought the Mini to start out with, but the Air 2 will be a step up in quality, in my opinion.

Good video Im like some others have said the Mini looked the best.
Lyn Smith When watching on a phone / not 4k, it’s easy to think that :) On a bigger screen and in 4k there is a big difference. Also, the mini appears to have lots of automatic processing of the image already, which makes the colours look brighter / more saturated - the higher end drones, just like cameras, leave this up to the user / after shooting. The mini is definitely great though.. but there is a fairly big difference.
Great video. Could you do a photography comparison between mini and air 2? Especially hdr video on the air 2 and hdr photo and 48mp photo. And is there noticeable low light improvement with the slightly larger sensor on the mavic air 2?
