Infinity also brought us possibly the most Ace Combat song of all time: Blue Skies -Infinity remix-.

I've always loved the idea of the PvE missions that were in Infinity, I've seen countless videos online from buddies talking to each other, communicating and such to get the missions done, it looked so cool.
Sadly, I didn't get the chance to play it as I didn't own a PS3 back then.

You aren't the only one, I hated the fuel system, but the game was more than fun enough for me to overlook that system tbh

What sucks for me is I didn’t even know infinity existed until a fu years back when it was to late i had a xbox and not a PlayStation so i had no idea infinity existed until i listened to the blue skies remix then went down the infinity rabbit hole seeing invincible fleet again and Stonehenge

The brief period between UGB nerf and Lv.15 cap introduction was probably the fondest time for NTDM. People were still bringing all sorts of planes to the match and relatively weak armor encouraged maneuvering when attacking. That stopped being the case with FB-22 and Lv.20 update, where it was easier to just fly straight and bomb away, as the profit became good enough to outweigh dozens of shot-down penalties.
PvE had similar issue with F-15S/MTD with FAEB dominating most of the matchups (Moscow Battle 4 days), but it was still funny watching their scoring drop like a rock when their FAEB ran out early.
I still do miss Infinity dearly despite its flaws and stale metas.

i also miss ace combat infinity, i remember playing it on the last day, man i wish it was still around, it was one of the best ace combat multiplayer experiences I've ever had

You're not the only one. A story that never went anywhere, a failed energy system, and too much focus on multiplayer. Honestly, it has many flaws, but at least it gave me something to do.
If they had reduced the cooldown period from 4 hours to just one hour, I think it would be much more tolerable.

Having seen images of the game without knowing what console it was, it honestly looked more like a PS4 game it looks amazing as a PS3 title. It is something I did miss out on, not having any real Playstation after the PS2 until long after the game shutdown. Looks interesting, and I've been through more painful F2P experiences and still enjoyed them so it would've probably been a blast.

I didn't like the free to play aspects of it, but i understand why they went that route. i didn't get to play it much, but i always enjoyed when I did. I miss it sometimes, I wish at least thr single player part was still available

I started with AC:Inf. I didnt realize how special it was to fly with 3-7 other players in a co-op mission. I just cared about going as hard as i could when i flew with my facebook squad. We'd fly at 4am and 4pm so we could fly 6 times daily. We'd messenger each other if we had a raid and could kick to make space. Now that ive played through AC4 and AC7, and studied the stories and missions of 5 and Zero, i have this tragic sense of nostalgia for something i did daily for 3 years yet didnt fully understand. The game was such a gift

Some people who restart closed online games on ps3 with DNS can do the same for aci but they think that if they start aci they will play a very limited number of games which I am sure they are wrong Ace combat infinity is a valuable multiplayer game on ps3, especially in its style, it has no real rival on ps3.

I will continue to say, Ace Combat Infinity is the best AC they released, I will forever ask for it to be brought back or a new game to be made. A pipedream is when they release AC8 for MP they'll turn it sideways and we'll get that sweet sweet ACI MP. I will say, if they EVER get ACI on a private server I'll play the shit out of it.

I still think about it every day. The best online experience I have EVER had.
If they brought it back, I would willingly chop off a toe.
    I miss this game.

Infinity was one of the few AC games I didn't get the chance to play. Even though I had a PS3 at the time, I didn't have a home internet connection, so using my phone's hotspot was the only way for me to have internet access (which can sometimes be problematic due to the less than ideal speed it provided and the monthly data limit.)
Still, I'm holding on to the hope that this game will breathe a new life sooner or later.

It was so hype to see AC3 Electrosphere planes too.
Not only did the Neucom Delphinus was in the game, it also had the Hud from Electrosphere.
Also hoping someone makes a fan server, like how MGO did.

Infinity was the game I really wanted to play back then. I watched countless videos of amazing battles and gameplay. I wanted to buy a PS3 solely for this game. But after I made that plan, the shutdown announcement arrived, and my heart was crushed.
Now seeing as Project Aces has merged with ILCA to make Bandai Namco Aces, I am very hopeful that we will get a game that is scaled as much as Infinity was. I really wanna see it come back or they make Infinity 2 (without that darn fuel system and with the same progression). If they do end up bringing it back, the community will be the happiest it’s ever been i think. There’s nothing like it.

    Rivalry with an allied squadron
Upgrade parts & levels (just get rid of the "fuel system" & lootbox bs)
The way co-op missions (especially the boss raids) were done
    Data link system
    Offline bots (those "CPU" hornets)
A potential for an interesting storyline which unfortunately didn't really go anywhere
    "Naval assault" PvP
    The visual style
    If only...

  • @fireflywater

I would've played it more, if the game let me. I liked the semi-competitive, mostly-coopertive aspect of the main game mode. I have fond memories bringing the Lancer to 2 of the maps and carpet bombing the map-- provided an FB-22 didn't wipe everything first.

Imo Ace Combat infinity had the best multiplayer of the franchise. I would love to have it back, or to have another AC game with the same multiplayer style. So sad they went for pvp on AC7.

  • @matty4z

the one "Big" thing ACi did and I think AC7 should have done was online team vs team sortie + urgent missions as well as seasonal tournaments :/ me and my old online PS3 friends played ACi up until the servers shut down mid game :/ "best times"
at least they had was unlimited fuel for the last few days , I still own the same old PS3 + ACi game (even if it cant connect)
    + account with all my PS trophy's from it ;^-^;

Gundam evolution will the the sole reason i will always hate bandai, Evolution could've been the gundam universes infinity. If we had a infinity today i swear gaming will change drastically. Sure it was eh but iconic missions as pve? And upscaled? Hell fucking yes
