  • The filmmaker visits East Berlin, the capital of East Germany (GDR) from 1948 to 1990, when Germany was divided between West and East Germany.
The film opens with a road sign informing us that in 70 meters we are leaving West Berlin. With a panoramic shot, we see the Brandenburg Gate in the center of Berlin, which used to be East Berlin's gate, while today it is the most recognizable symbol of the German capital. We watch the military outposts near the gate and then, the Soviet War Memorial in Tiergarten park.
The filmmaker continues with shots from the moving car and then shows us the Alte Bibliothek library which was bombed during WWII and and the Berlin Cathedral. The film closes with a flea market near the so-called House of the Teachers in Alexanderplatz and a general view of the area.
