      @SuperboyLilly True. And this season is called 'Change' for a reason. But huge lifestyle changes aside, suddenly having powers and having no control over them makes a person a liability. Hmm 🤔 I wonder if the world of Avatar would have insurance for that kind of thing? I mean bending is considered a norm and accidents are most likely not unheard of

      Yes, but Tenzin was focused on reviving the air nomad culture, it was the dream that he inherited from Aang, though both of them had come to accept they would have to take the long way, and that neither would see it come to fruition. For Tenzin then it was like a miracle, he wasn't thinking about the new air benders as individuals, just as part of fulfilling his and his dad's dream. He was blinded by this. And considering that being an air bender was almost a synonym of being an air nomad, unless the other nations where there is more variety, his confusion is understandable, I think.

    • @tierefuerimmer9635
      @tierefuerimmer9635 10 месяцев назад +12

      I actually said in a previous comment that Korra was more empathetic than Tenzin here, probably because that even though she struggled to learn airbending at first, she always craved what element embodied, yet what she lacked her entire life:freedom. I had this headcanon that they were descendants of air nomads that managed to escape the attack of the fire nation. I think it is confirmed at least some did escape, as there were traps set up for them. They would have to hide their abilities and prevent their kids from developing them to keep them safe, so in a few generations, they wouldn't know they had it. Some might have passed it from grandparent to grandkids. And when the harmonic convergence happened, those dormant powers woke up.

    • @calamitysangfroid2407
      @calamitysangfroid2407 9 месяцев назад

      It's not freedom the way Western culture thinks where you can do whatever you want, but freedom from the burdens of society, emotions, family obligations and such. It was the rejection of the Confucian values of the Chinese empire which demands strict hierarchy and devotion to family, nation, and duty (like Zuko's mindset, no matter how horrible his dad was, he had to be devoted to him). The Buddhist teachings demand removing those ties, which leads to rules about what you can't do - don't have a family, don't have noble titles, don't have wealth (since wealth is status). Remove attachments so you are obligated to nothing, so nobody can use them to control you. Then, you can devote yourself to the spiritual world 100% and be free of the physical one.

I mean they are obviously part of the new air nation now (atleast the ones who decided to train under Tenzin) but they haven't really lived like Air Nomads. Are there some rules you have to follow. like being a vegetarian?
