The biggest problem with color grade is that people don't understand that there is no right or wrongs. It is an artistic impression that you decide works or not.
I'd just like to point out; the way you introduce and use your sponsor is genius. Most videos are gonna make a legit add break to babble about whatever brand they chose, and everyone is just gonna spam the skip button until they're back to the real video. But you, you used it as a useful and instructive part of your video. It also shows that the sponsors you choose have a real interest in your work. Overall, it makes your video come together
From the bossa nova vibes to the davinci walkthrough, this was a dope video! You made this process super beginner friendly. Many thanks from a color grading noob! 💕
as brazilian, loved some of the soundtrack choises of this video, btw great guides man !!!! i'm trying to figure out my view on colors for my first short movie and ur video helped me alot.
RUclips recommended your video to me by chance and when I heard the bossa nova playing (as a Brazilian) I almost jumped for joy hahahah you've gained another subscriber, I loved your channel!

My guy! Such an honor being features in your video, man. Not really thinking about this too often, but it's great to realise my work does help out. Appreciate the words. Oh, the name... You were close. Think off your shoe, then just put RD at the end! Hehe. Weird Dutch names...
Great video, great tips! Interesting detail ''ve noticed is the brazilian song at 4:50, as a brazilian, I know its a mood you create using bossa nova related styles.
im from brazil and i loved that you used a bossa nova song (specially the touch on cutting the high-end) it was funny understanding all the lyrics but it really captured the mood :P nice work!
this is incredible man, thanks so much for sharing your sauce! i would also like to point out how hard your fit goes in this video, this style and beanie suits you so much! where did you get your green crew neck from?
@@davidcallow Just getting into filming in log and color grading - learning that there are specific settings to film in log as well. It's a lot to learn but fun at the same time
very informative and that transition to the sponsor was smooth! Thank you for mentioning an iphone creator as well. i have the motivation now to start experimenting on davinci haha
an s-curve and flattening the footage are two completely different things. the S creates contrast actually, but bringing up the low and highlight point is what creates the de-contrast look. you can do one without the other
Yeah my bad, Ive made a few comments already on this video that I had meant that I add an S-curve after if I want to make final adjustments (not particularly to flatten the image more)
I like the look of your videos. Will try to experiment with the extreme saturation as a starting point. When I was starting my adventure with filmaking, the color grading was clearly the most intimidating part. Now it's the one I'm actually waiting for, to add that personal vibe and the final look to whatever I've been working on ☺️
I exports as 1080 x 1920! Insta uploads it as that, so rather than making it compress my files, I just export it as it should be. I know a lot of people export their files in 4k timelines though ~
Congrats on the sponsor @Havenotats ! Are you a Cineon or PrintFilm type of guy? I've been leaning more towards printfilm lately but your less contrast look is making me debate
Right at the start of the video, when I heard the Galahs, I thought you must be in Australia. Later you confirmed that you are. I’m planning to start shootings video more regularly and this video is really helpful.
Amazing video! You have an amazing content 💕 may I ask how do you choose music to put on your videos? The song you used doesn’t feel like the stuff I usually listen to on audio libraries, I loved it
Hi . Thanks for this useful video . I want to know how do you usually find good music ? I really love your music in the vlogs, do u use youtube library ?
hey!! i love the look of all of the shots in this- what kind of fisheye lens(s) are you using? im wanting to invest in one for my videos and love the look of your really wide shots
It's not a "fish eye lens" but it does give the effect when used on a fullframe sony camera, it's the 10-18mm f/4 :) I talk about it in a video about the gear I use ~
Idk if this is too much to ask but can you please give me your exact setting from this video with color grading?? I have been trying to get this vibe for FOREVER but it never turns out 😭 I would APPRECIATE it so much
Do you color grade before cutting all your clips? Do you need to readjust for each clip, or do you generally copy and paste the same adjustments from the first clip to the second? :)
Do you just adjust the already pre existing nodes that come with cineprint or do you add your own for when you adjust these? Would love to see your color grading workflow
thanks for sharing these amazing tips and tricks! Took bunch notes hahaha would you mind if I ask how you create that look in the beginning?(that hole in the middle, almost like fish eye but not..) I'm wondering if it's a physical thing or is it something to do with editing? thanks in advance!
I have a question, I've been looking for a while and still don't have answer, what are the dark corners when using wide lenses and how do you get them because it's something I've been trying to figure out and want to use.

Do y'all like the soft/colourful look?

Yes!
The biggest problem with color grade is that people don't understand that there is no right or wrongs. It is an artistic impression that you decide works or not.
100% FACTS.
exactly.
Can't agree more. Color grading is subjective matter.
Valid! I have my own style and don't worry much about a right or wrong
Totally agree! But there should also be some guidelines to what kind of look options out there. Example : Teal and Orange, Dreamy, Punchy...
