- The team at Werkz holsters is putting six of the most popular subcompact pistol lights to the ultimate test!
➡️ Practical testing includes a game of hide-and-seek. Lab testing reveals which light is really the brightest. Finally, our destructive testing shows which light can take the most abuse. How do the lights do? Watch to find out.
Choosing a light to complement your pistol is a crucial decision, but it is too expensive to evaluate all the subcompact pistol lights until you find the combination that works best.
The team at Werkz holsters is doing the work for you and putting six of the most popular lights through the ringer with multiple tests to check durability and functionality.
➡️ Looking at max lumens, candela, runtime, temperature, and CRI, this video will demonstrate which of the six lights came out on top!

These tests are so damn important for the carry community. Thank you guys for doing the hard work and making it entertaining. Love it.
That is -exactly- my intent. I'm glad you appreciate it!
This is the kind of stuff that T-Rex arms always talks about doing but never actually do......
I'm glad you found this type of information useful! We all have our strengths, and I'm trying to provide -real- data to the community for them to make decisions, and for light manufacturers to step up their game. Every interaction I've had with the Bodkin family has been positive; I wish them every blessing!
Great testing! This is the kind of thing we need to know, not whose light is rated best or whose light is the most expensive or who sells the most. But real life results! Thank you!
This took a lot of time and effort, and the production value is so high for such a small channel. Great job! Loving my Werkz M6!
These Light Lab videos are remarkably informative. Thank you sooooo muchbfor them. Subbed.
Thank you for the time and effort put into these videos. I just placed an order for the M7 OWB holster with the UBL and QLS attachments. I had to support you guys!
It's a ton of work, but also a ton of fun. I'm glad you enjoy them. It's kinda "geek hour" for weaponlights. And thanks for trusting us with your business!
Amazing video overall, please keep doing tests like these, it is insane for the community to see. I run my edc with your holsters and it's genuinely awesome. Keep up the great work guys!
Thanks much for your encouragement! These videos are fun, and I think they add value to the community. And thank you for trusting us with your business!
Yes. Thank you!!!
Great video, guys! Super long, but thoroughly entertaining! I love my TLR-8 AG!
I was worried about the length. I'm glad that it was worth your investment in time to watch it!
Cool video! Liked
Just wanted to say for those who may be on the fence about a Werkz holster, I’ve had mine for many months now and I can honestly say I’m even more impressed now than day one if that’s even possible. Set up to run with a Baldr mini. Great team of folks to do business with in every way…
Outstanding video! I was on the fence between the XSC and TLR-7 Sub before your last video. Now I have to TLR-7 Subs.
Really appreciate all the hard work you put into this test and your channel. I bought lights for several different platforms and always turn to your research before buying. Excellent channel. Thank you! Subscribed and Liked.
I'm glad you like it! We have a lot more content coming, and I need to get into the lab today and perform some more testing.
Nice work, Shan & crew!
Thank you good sir!
Awesome review!
It was fun shooting something a little different!
Loved the vid. The time flew by watching it, I hope you guys get to test the new holosun light in the future
Thank you for the best review on gun lights!
My pleasure!
Thank you so much!!! This is incredibly valuable to the community! Please keep these up. Would love to see an EDC handheld light test, but understand if it doesn’t make business sense, you guys being holster manufacturers.
Ben, thanks for the encouragement. I have a bunch of popular lights on the bench that I'm getting ready to test... including handheld and rifle. So stay tuned!
@@WerkzHolsters Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome test as always 👍
Thanks Mr. Ellison! It was a --long-- video this time.
Test after test and light after light, these videos are consistently entertaining and educational. And, as expected, each test shows that time after time that Olight is generally bottom to near bottom all around performers and Streamlight, for the money, is arguably one of the best on the market.
I'm glad you enjoy the videos. We have a ton of content coming. And yes, we have a lot of respect for Streamlight around the shop. It's one of the few brands we resell (though we have other well regarded brands in the Werkz... er... works). Thanks for the feedback! Blessings!
How I wasn't subscribed to you I have no idea, you guys are doing the lords work I swear. I've been trying to steer people to your channel every time I see someone asking about PML stuff.
Thanks so much for the encouragement! I'm enjoying collecting real objective data on lights. But sometimes we have to be less scientific and just beat the lights up!
Excellent! Going to buy your holster, your attention to detail is superb!
Thanks for your feedback, and thanks for your confidence in our products!
Thanks for this! Was looking at purchasing the Xsc
It held up well!
Very nice review
Thanks!
Werkz Rules All! Awesome video guys!
Thanks much Kevin! I appreciate the encouragement! It helps drive us forward to make more of these types of videos... including future handheld and rifle lights.
Excellent tests once again! It's important to keep in mind the vastly different price points and their respective performance. You can get 3 Olights for 1 Surefire which is crazy! But Streamlight always seems to be the right in the middle and a great value. However, I realllllly look forward to your testing with the Cloud Defensive pistol light when they release soon! Thinking they'll win everything... Lol
Don’t forget olight’s bright setting only last for around 60 seconds, then it drops to a much lower level of illumination. Streamlight is multiple times better than olight in every category. Don’t waste your cash on olight
Can't wait to see you test weltools weapons lights. They have a new LH8 head coming out in February stated to have 1500 lumens and 90k candela with a 1hr 40 min run time. I'd love to see you test that with your equipment. Yall are funny to watch as well great energy together.
Great review on the lights. You provide an unbiased, no bs review. Thanks to your reviews and suggestions. I started carrying a pocket flashlight. Would you consider reviewing pocket carry flashlights? Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I have a bunch of tactical flashlights in my lab that I'll be testing "soon".
@@WerkzHolsters great light lab videos! I hope in your handheld tests you guys can include a Streamlight 2lx
@@bf4chode2 So many handhelds out there... I have well over a dozen on my bench right now. I think I need to trim it down just to get a decent video done. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll see if we can include it.
@@WerkzHolsters for what it’s worth, I believe your target audience for these type of videos tend to lean towards the nerdy side. With that being said, maybe you could do a 2 part series kind of like what you did with the pistol lights.
@@bf4chode2 I think that's a good suggestion... break it up. Thanks!
This video is criminally underrated
Thanks Ryan for your support!
I see the classics 😍
The Baldr series of Olight are pretty damn good, and when you find them on sale they are pretty good $. And now that the streamlight tlr-7 sub has come down in price, it's a great deal. The Xsc just way too expensive for the amount of lumens, in my opinion.
excited for rifle lights.
The clamp test although entertaining “possibly” wouldn’t account for real world scenario as the slide reciprocates not the frame. But these light videos are definitely a favorite! Keep up the good work!!
Steven, the g-force / recoil test does seem to correlate to some of the results seen in the field. When the slide reciprocates, it goes all the way to the rear. Once it reaches the rear, it stops suddenly. That stop transfers shock into the frame, pushing it rearward, and the light forward. The g-force test transfers shock forward on the light in a similar manner. We have seen some recoil issues with clamps and rail keys that this test simulates. It's not perfect, but an approximation. At least, that's my logic, and I'm happy to listen if you have further input! Thank you!
@@WerkzHolsters this is very true, and where most of the recoil or at least muzzle rise comes from.
Loving the video, thank you for the test. I will say that you can tighten down the hex screws that lock the olight track to the QD rail, so I'm not sure if you guys had done that in advance.
Good point. I think we ran the Olights as they were shipped without additional adjustments.
I just got one of your holster for Sig Xcarry and Trl7 combo , I don't have trl7 , I have 7 sub and holster works just fine ,not sure if you guys know that , might wanna update website . Thanks for all these videos
awesome video - came here after the full sized gunlight and am still unsure if I should go compact or not. i'm just afraid of , for example, the tlr1-hl blinding me in my own hallway at night. PS: Looking forward to the rifle light test
The "blinded myself" concern might just be worth a video in itself. There are some great compact lights, which match up well to compact pistols. I prefer more lumens everything else being equal, but wouldn't hesitate to run any of a number of smaller lights.
Great testing. I purchased one of your hellcat tlr 7 sub holsters. The rail key you made has held up very well. I was wondering if you had any mag carrier that would fit the hellcat magazines? I saw that there were some for the p365 and shield plus, but I would love one for the hellcat to go with my holster.
Thanks for the feedback! The Hellcat mag carrier is one of the items we do need to get designed; it's in our design queue!
@@WerkzHolsters alright, I’ll keep checking back to your website for availability
@@axlplayer14 Sounds good! We do have demand, but there is demand for a ton of stuff out there...
I am edc-ing a 365xl w/sub in one of your holsters, love it as a setup and currently I don’t think there’s a better concealed package to go with
Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad we could serve your needs!
I just bought a sig p320 compact with a Wilson combat lower. What pistol light would you guys say is the best?
I’d like to see your opinion and lab test on tacticon lights. Budget light from a veteran owned company. I have a few and they seek to perform well for the price. I’d be curious to see the numbers. Or to see a budget light comparison test.
Thanks for the feedback. We'll continue adding budget lights as time allows.
The tlr-7 sub is a workhorse. I wouldn't consider it a duty light, but for concealed carry, it is boss af. There really isn't a better option on the market right now.
It was a fun 54 min :)
I'm glad you found it fun!
With the olights on the shock test, was the base tightened for the rail? There's a flat head screw that you can tighten if the rail isn't tight enough. Also there's some screws in the rail mount that are designed to take up any slack from the rail mount and the light and fix it in place when you have it set to where you want it for your gun.
Excellent point! We just ran them as they came out of the box. Either way, as I stated in the video, I didn't consider it a real failure as the lights survived.
@@WerkzHolsters That's fair.
If you guys haven't picked your rifle lights to test, I would be interested in seeing the Crimson Trace CMR-301. It looks like a decent light on paper, but there's not a lot of reviews out there.
@@THEJake829 While we talked with CT at Shot, we didn't discuss that light... thanks for putting it on my radar. I suspect we could get one in to test!
Please include the wild 1 by inforce.
Also, what fudd’s are buying the lasers?
We will be doing a video on the Wild 1; I have one of them in the integrating sphere (lumens) right now.
Will you guys be doing a review on the new Inforce WILD1?
Yes! I have the review almost completely written, and the next video we produce will highlight the Wild 1. We do have Wild 1 holsters for the Glock BTW.
@@WerkzHolsters Great! I’ve been wanting a new OWB holster for my G19 now that I got the WILD1. Looking forward to the review, please show the holster in the video as well, if you can. Thank you. Keep up the great work and stay safe!
@@gabemanabat7027 Gabe, that's exactly the plan! Light data, some beam shots, shooting, and the holsters!
I love all of the reviews and torture test you guys do. It tells me you care about the CCW community and not just selling your product. Bye the way I just received my first Werkz holster last week, M6 for a M&P 2.0 C with the Olight PL Mini 2 and I thank you. I am loving it so far, very well built and comfortable. Just a small transition from the size of carrying a Shield, but it's all good. Thank you for giving some options for the Olights.
Dan, thanks for the positive encouragement! I'm having a ton of fun doing the light reviews, and I think we can add real objective data here. And hopefully it helps push the industry to provide better stuff for us. Thanks for purchasing from us! As I've stated elsewhere, we will be trying to add to our S&W support over the coming months.
I thought the Streamlight would do better. The bezel on both lights did not survive the drop test. They technically did not survive the drop test. The Baldr S came out of that test pretty good. If Olight can improve on the voltage drop...it's looks like to be an all around good light.
with olight being a completely chinese owned company, it is not something i consider.
All that drop test proves is throwing your gun is a bad idea. That, and any unlucky drop can take out the front of a pistol light. Don't drop it, and if you do, hope it doesn't hit lens first lol.
With the Olights did you verify that you had the right picatinny slot block installed on the underside of the light as they come with the Glock piece pre installed from the mfg. If testing on a 1913 style picatinny you would have to remove the Glock style rail adapter block and install the 1913 type block piece that would fit tighter. The viewers ought to know for sure.
I was referring to the drop test for the lights
I refuse to run olights on a firearm due to similar issues. They fall off no matter what and of course their turbo mode powers them down to a ridiculous low amount of power after a minute or two. Currently running TLR7A-Flex
I don't think you can go wrong with the TLR-7a! Thanks for providing your feedback!
Who makes a holster for a Glock 30s with the Olight mini?
We are currently looking at supporting 10mm and 45acp Glocks... stay tuned...
In Olights defense I don’t really see a situation where are I will be in a gun fight with a pistol for three minutes anyway. Especially on a compact carry gun
I cannot imagine a gunfight for 3 minutes either, but a light is useful also for identifying and controlling threats. Methodically searching the house, investigating the bump in the night, or questioning someone on your property may take more than 3 minutes.
That baldrS was falling off the rail at the end of the 10 rounds
Others have pointed out that we likely could tighten it down. We had just run it out of the box.
1:40, that is a 365 XL
P365X, Icarus grip, Grayguns comp, Holosun optic.
