    "Lose your sh*t" is a drill that my wife and I have practiced. We live deep in the country, so chances are if one of us needs to use our firearm it'll be while getting groceries or errands in town. We fill grocery bags full of random stuff just to practice dropping them to draw. Train for when you're most vulnerable.

    At 7:02 during fbi method he studder steps left into area where light was and where hostile rounds would be aimed. When using this technique, consider tactical advantage of - shot and move right at night. Moves you away from hostile aiming point.

    • @ForwardProgressUSA
      @ForwardProgressUSA 3 года назад +2

      You’re absolutely right Paul, but one thing that you should understand and or possibly consider is that once that round goes off and that flash to my right side goes off from where the light was the light suddenly becomes way less important and that flash of light that is the main threat is now suddenly the focal point.
      I love where your heads at and obviously there’s going to be different opinions but what I can say is normally I quickly tap that light it is a very short momentary on and then after that gun goes off I moved to the opposite side that gun went off on it’s just the way I’ve been trained and as it stands, 50/50 chances😂 would love 100 however, those odds never exist in a gun fight, don’t let anybody fool you.
      Obviously every situation is going to be different, conditions, physical ailments and disabilities etc.
      Great point and thanks for watching.

    I have to say that of all places the newest Resident Evil series on Netflix had that “FBI” style of holding the light in different places while they cleared the White House. It’s the first time I’ve seen it used outside of training.

    • @kenibnanak5554
      @kenibnanak5554 3 года назад

      Why would you want to? Three opponents, one or two with a shotgun. They aim at the light and shoot at you. That, with their target being your under the barrel light, is going to hurt a lot.

      @@kenibnanak5554 where you live I have a tlr and a hand held. I'll happily shine them in your face. There is a park behind my house. When I mounted my tlr and tested it I walked out on my deck and shown my light across the park at the neighbors house. After a min I heard a "the neighbors appear to be testing their new light" in a gruff and unamused tone. That's a block from my house. In the middle of the night I was effectively spotlighting their house at 1 am.

      The thing I don’t understand about WML guys is if you have identified the target you don’t need the light and if you haven’t identified the target then you don’t need the gun. The times you need both at the same time is very few and usually only in home defense for most civilians. A handheld light will be better more often than not and will be brighter than any WML you can buy.

    @11:00 I realized this a few months after carrying concealed. I was leaving grocery store with bags in both hands. I seen an unsavory person and thought man if the need to deploy became reality I’d have to drop these bags. I now try to use a cart or carry bags weak side. Leaving my strong side open. Even exiting my vehicle. I try to ensure my strong side free to do its work.

    These techniques and this genre of content involving employing an illumination device alongside a fighting pistol really was both useful and thought provoking! It is something within the "Gun Fu" that is indeed not practiced or, moreso, overlooked completely. Referring back to the training I once received in clearing houses and utilizing a handgun in tandem with a light in dark spaces while doing so, I can only recall being briefly instructed on light positioning relative to the officer and the gun. Not utilizing it as a distraction or supplementary aiming aid for defensive accuracy under speed if tucked in close on the off side. Many thanks for shedding some light ;-) on light etiquette to supplement defensive shooting.

    Keep in mind in Texas: if you have a weapon mounted light and you walk outside and use that light for a flashlight then you’re also technically pointing said weapon at whomever you come across. So if they are simply walking down the curb and they trigger your security system so you walk out there and point at them to “see what it is” then you’ve committed a FELONY in the state of Texas called Deadly Conduct. Look it up. Using a weapon to point with zero probable cause or belief you’re also in immediate danger of deadly force is a felony on your part.

    • @smnkm4ehfer

      It's actually brandishing and just point at the ground. The light spill will illuminate them without pointing it at them. And if you aren't doing it in a threatening manner it may not even be brandishing(which is a misdemeanor).

I’ll always have a handheld light regardless of if I have a WML or not. It’s always good to know how to use both. Not that a WML doesn’t have advantages, but you’ll end up fighting with what’s at hand, rather than what’s ideal to be fighting with, and I’m not carrying a full-size handgun in my gym shorts.

    Why strobe over bright light?

    • @AcetacGear
      @AcetacGear 14 дней назад

      (Rob formerly of Powertac here) The thought process behind "Strobing" (which is highly criticized) is that it doesn't give your eyes enough time to adjust as they're basically stuck in the process of trying to focus and then that focus point changes. To give an example, when you are in a bright room and turn your lights off it takes time for your eyes to adjust.
      One of the main arguments against that is in times of duress, high stress your body does incredible things, including processing information exponentially faster hence "time slowing down". Through countless hours of training, manipulating the light manually will never be as fast of a change as a light with built in strobe. Nobody on this earth can manipulate a button to simulate the strobe internally built in. The second aspect of that being most lights don't have a direct to strobe function like these Powertacs did. Hope that helps!

    This is a much needed video topic. I have always viewed flashlights mounted on a gun frame with horror. In darkness your opponents will shoot at the light in front of them. Even if they are an inch or two off in where their bullet goes, that means that bullet goes into you. That is not a good thing. Your flashlight should not be adjacent to or in line with a vital organ of your body. If you have a 2nd flashlight (some folks do) and you are clearing a room, point it away from you and roll (not throw) it into the room. As it rolls it will illuminate your targets, and who cares if they shoot the light on the floor?

    Personally, I believe that every fighting weapon should have a weapon light.

      Agreed! Though you have to shoot using it also.
      I was quite surprised how hard it was to see through the smoke of the burnt powder.

    The problem with flash light is they know you're comings.

    This is cool but I feel like pistol mounted lights are just superior for low light shooting. Just my dirty civilian opinion.

      Yeah... I thought this was going to be about using a pistol light.

    I prefer to have the light on the gun so that I can shoot one handed in the dark. Or two handed with two guns. Then again if at home, I will be armed with a short semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun with a light and a laser on it. Nobody walks, nobody talks.

    Any good instructor will tell you constant on light until the threat(s) is down. Not on off, or strobe, just on and done. This method is completely confusing to 90% of the public. Very very poor training outlook from light methods to ideology. Very surprised that you have this poor so called trainer on your channel...

      Would love to hear the thought process behind light on constant at all times. Don’t agree, but maybe I’ll learn something 😏

    Throwing the pistol was just stupid. Its not respectfull as its not a toy but a tool of death. He even forgot his count on a slowed down segment. They did raise a good point that most gunowners fail on and that is incorporating movement into practice. Eric need more schooling and less cheeseburgers.

    No offense but he instantly lost me when he started using strobe. Strobe belongs at disco's, not on weapon lights.

    I like a lot of the videos, but this so called trainer’s technique is flawed. Two hands on the weapon for control; x300u for the win. Modlite PLHv2 with Thyrum Switchback for admin/backup. A threat won’t see anything for minutes in the dark if blinded by either. Find a real trainer for modern tactics.

    Never, ever drop or throw your weapon. I'm dissapointed you did this.
