Hey there, I'm currently stuck with installing the cias onto the home brew launcher for the first time. I'm using a "3ds" that is already running on the 11.17 update and when I attempt to install and delete the cias such as homebrew, chekpoint, FBI etc. but i'm getting an error saying failed to install cia file. Summary says wrong argument, description unknown, I have followed the steps exactly on the 3ds hacks guide but mine doesn't work compared to this video. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Hi there everyone! Nintendo just released a new Firmware update (11.17.0). If your device is running Luma 11.0 or higher, it is 100% safe to update. You can check your Luma version by holding (Select) while booting your device. If your device is on an older Luma version, you should update Luma before you update your device to 11.17.0. In this video I will show you how to hack your device (on older firmware) and then update it to 11.17! :)
EDIT: I have found the issue, the simple solution is the following: Within the CHEATS folder in your gameid folder, you will need to rename your cheat.txt file to the current build id, check the edizon overlay and it will show you the build id of the game, simply rename the cheats.txt file to the current build id indicated by edizon
I updated my 3DS before I could homebrew it. Sorry. But I'm not giving up on any of you! If updates keep evolving, so too will the homebrew hackers. I'm not much of a hacker myself, more like a motivational speaker.

i was able to complete this successfully on my n3ds xl using the stock 4gb micro sd card that came with it. if i wanna upgrade to a 32gb micro sd card, will i have to repeat all of this?
so what if i modded my 3ds and then a few weeks later updated it when the update came out and i dont have luma 3d installed would that cause any problems?

(you should probably pin this comment for ppl who come by and are confused) at the point where you start to get into the FBI and CIA stuff, the website now shows only one direct download. inside the direct download is all the files you'l need that are shown. just in files with in the OG file.
Yes, just update it to the latest version before you start. But if you’re already on CFW with Luma3DS, you can just update your Luma3DS and keep the hack intact. No need to redo it.
My friend updated to latest firmware before cfw and device cannot be cfw. How can we do that. Or can we are downgrade to 11.16 or earlier. We don't have backup.

... already have a CFW New Nintendo 2DS but now i've got a new 3DS with Capture Card Inside and really wanted to CFW it aswell. Thought I was already to late but luckily still was on the old firmware and could still CFW it ^^
I did this and used CTRTransfer, but now whenever I try to boot into DS mode I get an ErrDisp. I know it's because of CTRtransfer becuase I reverted to the origional nand and it worked but I want my 3ds in English so I changed it back. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Haha, while I appreciate your funny comment, I think you may be misunderstanding. This video shows how to hack a 3DS BELOW FW 11.17 and then safely update to 11.17. You still can't hack 11.17 if you didn't have CFW before updating.

@@Deraj1313 The CFM does not belong to Nintendo, so they can’t update it. They only can put updates to block it just like that. But the "hacking” team will find a way to update it beyond, be sure :) That’s only a coding game… update upon updates etc

For some reason my 128gb memory card wont work in my 2ds keeps saying it cant be recognised also it cant be updated to the recent firmware either leavung me on 11.4.37-e
For the not recognized part you might wanna look inside of the sd reader it self and see if a little pin near the bottom and it’s pushed down cuz that was what was wrong with mine and I fixed it (somehow)

Try use the method in this guide instead. Put it on your sd card and install through FBI.
