Hi guys..Been having problems with Beatles reactions lately. They keep getting blocked!
This video was recorded ONE MONTH ago.Just got approved after appeal TODAY
This is why i chose this video cos it was the only version i could get any succesa with..
Cheers
I consider this a Paul McCartney MASTERPIECE! Saw him in concert in the late 80s sitting at a psychedelic piano do Fool On The Hill. It was breathtaking. The entire concert 3 hours of Beatles songs and Wings Songs and Solo Paul . Perfection! Concert l will never forget! ♥️♥️🎼🎵🎶🇨🇦
He has so many masterpieces with The Beatles... Eleonor Rigby, Penny Lane, Yesterday, Here There and Everywhere, She's Leaving Home, For No One, Blackbird, Let It Be, Hey Jude, Paperback Writer and the Abbey Road Medley, which is mostly him.
Love this song!
@@urivan9613 Paul just overwhelms me. Seriously.
Here's why this sounds different....From Wikipedia: Love is a soundtrack remix album of music recorded by the Beatles, released in November 2006. It features music compiled and remixed as a mashup for the Cirque du Soleil show of the same name. The album was produced by George Martin and his son Giles Martin, who said, "What people will be hearing on the album is a new experience, a way of re-living the whole Beatles musical lifespan in a very condensed period."[1]
The album was also George Martin's final album as a producer before his death in 2016.
That is what I thought! I saw the cirque show in Vegas with my sisters a couple of years ago! Loved it! 😍
I have never heard this version with that intro and a few additional instrumental bits. Very nice! The story was that Paul went off to France for a holiday and did this song pretty much on his own. One of my favorites from the Magical Mystery Tour album. Nice to get back to some Beatles.
It comes from the Circue De Solei show in Vegas
Oh Yeah
@@georgegreenhalgh993 THEY did some cool transactions with the songs I liked it and been a Beatles fan over 50 years sometime skeptic
@@georgegreenhalgh993 sorry sometimes skeptical when they mess with the songs but was a good idea . All the Circue was George's idea take care
This song is deep and melancholy and introspective all while being happy and whimsical and fairytaleish. It's so good, yet a mere side bar song for the Beatles.
Not the original Magical Mystery Tour version, but very close. I love Paul in the MMT video of this..Paul at the height of his loveliness ..
Never heard this version, but have loved the song for 45 years
ORIGINAL VERSION PLEASE!!!!!
Thank you!!!
@@cathyortiz1280 There is a very original quality of perfect simplicity about a lot of Paul`s work and as soon as someone else tinkers with is ,that perfection is lost .
I agree. The instrumentals are so, so, so much better in the original.
You're so right in your interpretation. Paul wrote this song about the Maharishi in Rishikesh, India after the Beatles went there to study under him. John wrote Sexy Sadie as a dig against him.
Pedant's corner: actually, no, they went to Rishikesh a year after Paul first debuted FOTH for John in London in March 1967.
The intro is not part of the Beatles' recording. It was tacked on for the Cirque de Soleil "Love" show.
I found myself on a hill in December 1967 during Christmas vacations. I was removing vine creeps from a vineyard, listening to the radio. I was pleased to hear this Beatles song at least once an hour as well as "Emmenez-moi" (take me along) - to the sun! - by Charles Aznavour which had just been released.
Can not CAN NOT go wrong with the Beatles! 😁
The lyrics are clever, not the original recording however. I think the most clever lyrics the lads ever recorded are in "Because" (Because the sky is blue, it makes me cry)
I'm still hoping he will be reacting to that one soon.
You’re right about that one. Took me a long time to « get » that line. Another good lyric is from « Nowhere Man » : « Isn’t he a bit like you and me »🙂
It's underappreciated, "Because the world is ROUND it TURNS me on." "Because the WIND is HIGH It BLOWS my MIND." Very punny and so beautifully sung.
@DCI Gene Hunt The correct lyric is « For well you know that it’s a fool… »😇
One of my favorites of theirs is:
“Eleanor Rigby
Picks up the rice in the church
where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits by the window
Wearing the face that she keeps
in a jar by the door
What is it for?”

Of course he's not a fool! He sees the Sun going down and the World spinning round! :)
One of my favorite Beatles songs. I loved to sing along with it as a child!
One of my favourite Beatles songs, not heard this version before but still so good.
This is from "Love" The Cirque du Soleil Beatles tribute that I was fortunate enough to see... quite a bit different from the original beatles release...The Fool on The Hill was the Maharishi
Always a bit iffy when listening to any song off of the Love album because you’re not getting a version of a song as it was originally released. Often they are shorter and also mixed with bits from other songs.
Great song! Paul's vocal is so good!
This is pretty much like the original chart release which has a shorter intro. The original is also on The Magical Mystery Tour EP Harri, its an EP full of gems but I also like the instrumental on it called 'Flying'.
Try 'This Boy' , You'll Love It. Lennon Song, Great Harmony.
Harri has been asked so many times about This Boy that it makes me think he is saving the best until last!
This is the version from the Las Vegas show, "The Beatles: Love. George Martin added things and played with the mix. Great version. The original version is on The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour.
Glad you understood the song
Thanks for bringing us reactions to the most amazing group the world has ever seen, please keep the Beatles reactions coming. Just love it.
Paul is one of the greatest.
always great tfs
Great song, the lyrics makes you think about life, his voice is so melancholic.
It featured in the Magical Mystery Tour film in fact Paul irritated the others by dissappearing for a few days to film the insert by himself. He left them a bit stranded wondering what was going on. It's all a bit mystical and dreamy, so it fits the film.
The boys at their very best
I think it’s one of most underrated of Beatles songs. I love it and the recorder too.
Yes one of my top 5 Beatles songs personally. So many great ones but this is shere melodic ecstasy...
Nice analysis of a wonderful song. You're right, McCartney's melodies are easy to spot.
This isn't the original version but it's still good. Originally from Magical Mystery Tour Album. It's the best version. How about John's Instant Karma?
I will just say that going by the chills I get when hearing this that this is just another Beatles masterpiece that is now in my DNA. I always assumed it was yet another song about the Maharishi after their visit with him in India to learn Transcendental Meditation. That said, this version is new to me and doesn’t change my feelings at all. I love your take on it Harri. Spot on.
Written a year before they went to India. In fact, already part-written, with the main idea and the title, 5 months before they first saw the Maharishi in London.
@@strathman7501 I stand corrected. From what I understand Paul’s first acid trip took place in 65 with Jane Asher. So that influence was there well before he wrote Fool. It just seemed such a match. Live and learn.
@@glenndespres5317 Well there was an influence from the Maharishi, certainly. Paul said revealingly "I think I was writing about someone like the Maharishi", and the song was recorded in Sept 1967, a month after Paul attended M's lecture. But the title Fool On the Hill and the bones of the song had existed since March. No doubt the M spurred Paul to finish it, even though he was not himself the inspration.
Agree with you fully Harri. This recording is new to me too as I only knew the original. Hope you sometime get the actual albums to listen to, makes such a difference.
Never heard that intro before.
I feel like this song is my life story .😊
This is the soundtrack to the Cirque Du Soleil show, The Beatles, Love; George Martin's swan song mashup of Beatles songs & sounds. Wonderful as it is, check out the original.
This was my song one evening of “Karaoke roulette”, the guy running the show couldn’t believe I knew it so well;);)
Then my buddy got “sunny side of the street”, again Dr Bob was flabbergasted.
He forgot we grew up on the Beatles;)
You hear this song and you know exactly what he’s talking about;)
Sergio Mendes & Brazill '66 made a version that McCartney said was a masterpiece. Lani Hall (Mrs. Herb Alpert) and Karen Phillip (LT. Dish from M*A*S*H) were the lead singers. They did many great Beatles songs.
I agree. They have a smooth versio of it. Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics have another unique rendition of it.
Hello from South Florida 👋. New subscriber slowly listening to your reactions and loving them!
If you want to hear a beautiful take on this song, Annie Lennox performed during a Beatles celebration. There are not many people that can cover them well. ✌️
Thanks Harri for this reaction haven't heard this before guess I haven't heard everything they've done
The Beatles are great, no denying it.
However, my favorite version of "Fool On The Hill" is by Sergio Mendes.
Try Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five by Paul McCartney and Wings.
Hello Harri.... you must do a reaction to Sergio Mendes Brazil 66 Fool on the Hill... it's magical and you will love it
I don't know what that first part was, unless it was an addition for the Love album, which was done for the Circ du Soleil tour, but it wasn't on the original recording.
The only channel i give like befor i watch. ✌🏼👍👍💙💙☮️🙏🙏
Remember this on top of pops when it came out, their was a film with it 1st pop vid?
This song always reminds me of the title character in Dostoyevsky’s “The Idiot” because I was reading this book at around the time this song was released.
The Love album is like a medley/mix up of their songs. Great album but not quite an accurate depiction of the original recordings.
At ~3:29 there's a piece of Mother Nature's Son woven into the verse. This is a different mix from what's on the album. Interesting differences, but, gladly, I'm a Beatles purist. Quite happy and will always be amazed with their originally released mixes. That's the history of the Beatles they're messing with even if the results sound amazing.
My favorite Band 😁✌️StillRIP J. L. G.H.
Told you Beatles A-Z you can't go wrong!
This is not "Fool On The Hill" from Magical Mystery Tour... as said previously... Giles Martin (son of George) made a special mix for Cirque Du Soleil's dance company.. using bits and pieces from the original masters of Beatles songs..... with the blessing of the remaining Beatles and wives. The original is very different... try it!
The video they did for this is hilarious.
I like this song.
I prefer the usual version (not the “Love” version) but have always loved Paul’s vocal.
Fun song great cover by Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66
Another masterpiece from the fab 4. Oh, let's not forget Sir George Martin, the fifth Beatle.
I just had a wonder… is the fool The Grinch, living in isolation on Mt. Crumpit? :(
I'm so glad that you didn't show the cheesy video that's associated with that song. Watching it could only undermine your enjoyment and appreciation.
In the future, I'd skip Beatles songs from "Love", it's various songs put together for a live show and it's not the versions that the Beatles released.
There are some rare exceptions to the rule... “Every Little Thing” was Paul’s song but sung by John.
The verses of Every Little Thing were sung by both men in unison. John's nasal timbre penetrates more, but they're both there. Listen especially in the second verse.
Try Nowhere Man next.
Love, love, love the Beatles like you. Great song, but then most of their songs are. I mean can you name a bad one. Still waiting for Mother's Finest - Mickey's Monkey and Baby Love. Another great group is Little Feat. I'm sure you will love them also. These are two groups that get overlooked by too many people. That is except for from other Classic Rock stars themselves.
hope you know that this is a mash-up done for the LOVE production by cirque du soleil in Las Vegas
The lyrics describe the titular "fool", a solitary figure who is not understood by others, but is actually wise. McCartney said the idea for the song was inspired by the Dutch design collective the Fool, who derived their name from the tarot card of the same name, and possibly by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Beatles
I’am So Tired
I’am Down
I'm thinking that this is the Fool from the Tarot. A significant card, number zero, "The Fool". --from the Major Arcana. --don, mphs
The short intro is from “Love” not the original but pretty cool!
Hi Harri-anything on the "Love" album is not original but re-recording remixes of the originals.
This is not the original recoding. This is a remix many years later, as was everything on the "Love" album.
This isn’t the original fool on the hill, this is a remix.
Great song while on LSD
If the world were truly spinning as science says one would not be able to look at a sunset without moving around you are missing the message.
This is not the original Beatles song. It is the version from the Cirque Du Soleil show called The Beatles Love. To hear The Beatles version you have to do the Magical Mystery Tour album version.
In Tarot cards The Fool is one of the 22 in the major arcana numbered either 0 or XXII. It's not necessarily a bad card as told in Wikipedia, each card has 2 meanings depending on its orientation:
Meaning: The Fool represents new beginnings, having faith in the future, being inexperienced, not knowing what to expect, having beginner's luck, improvisation and believing in the universe. Upright card (keywords): Beginnings, Innocence, Leap of faith, Originality, Spontaneity
Reversed card (keywords): Chaos, Folly, Lack of direction, Naivety, Poor judgement, Stupidity
Hi Mr. Harri., I love the Beatles, I like this song; I like Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 cover version better.. ♠W.G.
I think the interpretation is spot on but he misses it’s sheer joy
OK Harri
Sir
This song has been remixed weirdly first of all the first 10 seconds with that or Krestrel stuff is not how they originally began and then some parts in the middle are not really original
I don’t really understand why
Or where this mix came from
But the original back when I bought the album didn’t sound like that so I’m not saying it’s bad I think you got the just the whole thing anyway but it’s not the original mix
But sir I love your reaction‼️
McCartney is a genius....
Yeah, as others have said, this is a remix of the original. Please listen to the original.
The question isn't so much what version of this song is playing but rather who is Sir Paul McCartney referring to as the fool on the hill? Some might say God but that would be dead wrong! In an interview, John said Paul was referring to himself. That I believe. Though he was clearly not a fool. I've never heard the author comment on it. Perhaps you have, if so I'd like to hear it.
I KNEW IT!!! Paul said the song was about Maharishi but I KNEW the song was really about Paul!!! He disliked being referred to as the "cute Beatle" because it made people not want to take him as seriously, like he's just a "fool" and not a real artist (like John). Paul didn't just do pop ballads (he did pretty much everything under the sun including hard rock, punk, ska, blues, funk, music hall, classical, indie rock, electronic, disco, folk) but some people still love to whine about "silly love songs" or "granny songs" and it's just exhausting. Paul was behind the scenes elevating every Beatles song with his harmony vocals, basslines, piano parts, production, etc. The man was no fool on the hill--he was a genius on the hill overlooking not just The Beatles but the entire musical world seeing all the possibilities.
@@thesilvershining I agree with you 100%. Everything you said about Sir Paul was right on. He's the greatest songwriter / musician in history and in the top five best singers. Maybe Sinatra, Presley and Nat King Cole were better vocalists. I'm sure he would agree.
Art rock classic - but then, it's the Beatles so of course.
Original please Harry
Hi Mr. Harri, I like the Beatles, I like this song, but I think Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66 cover is better.. ♠W.G.
Track down a copy of the animated "The Yellow submarine" featuring the cartoon Beatles. This is one of the songs listed, along with some other classics. Hey Bulldog etc. On a general note, you have to listen to Tomorrow Never Knows, another psychedelic track. Then compare it to "Let forever be" by the Chemical Bros....;o) Its so ahead of its time.
This sounds a bit odd ..... I don't think it's the original release. Probably one of those later compilations from out-takes and demos etc
Ok, so it wasn't just me. I thought I was losing my mind.
It's from the Vegas LOVE show.
@@anthonymunn8633 What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas. At least in this case.
The song is about the Maharishi Yogi in India when they went to visit him
Rishikesh was 1968. This was written the previous year. Paul had it part-written in March 1967, months before they encountered the Maharishi that August.
I see many early commenters have pointed out this is not the original version of the song, so I won't pile on! Let me say instead that as usual you gave a fine reaction! "Because", "Baby's In Black" and "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite" are all great "B" Sides for you to check out! Also, please add John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" to your massive list of songs to get to one day!! Best wishes to you!
although I prefer the album version, I think this is Pauls version of 'Strawberry Fields'. I am not saying that as a fact but they would often play musical ping pong while writing music.
Penny Lane was his Strawberry Fields. Both songs are written about the place they grew up.
@@Straydogger at face value sure but the music structure and general vibe of the song is strawberry fields which is more important
But but this is the Beatles Love version ...
Sorry Harri, but this is NOT the original....
It’s the Cirque Du Soleil remix. It’s maybe 95% the original, with a bit of other instrumental bits from unused takes and other Beatles songs added to the mix.
Some from the Love soundtrack are completely different from the original track, but this one is close enough.
About The Marahishi?
Not necessarily. They wrote and produced this before getting in with gurus. Lennon said he and Paul were walking in a park. Paul incountered an old man on a hill crest, and was conversing, when John caught up and Paul looked toward him the man quietly dissapeared over the crest. They wondered where he went as the trees were too far away to hide his walking away.
Now they may have been acid tripping, but it put them in the mind of God. They sought existential mysticism after that.
Despite what really happened, the Fool on the Hill is God in the song. A cosmic thing that sees it all, speaks in a thousand languages but still can't be heard by the actual fools that refuse to hear or are too afraid to hear.
Didn't Sergio Mendez and Brazil 66 do a wonderful cover of this song???
was supposed to be about Richard Nixon and the USA
Written in 1967 based on an experience in late 1966...Nixon was a retired politician in 1967...he ran in 1968 and wasn't president till 1969.
See how we can bring our own biases into history and manufacture a truth that is not true at all. We all do it...but in this case the timing is wrong.
Not the original. But good.
Ok Harri, here's a Beatles piece that is very obscure and very odd. It's called " You Know My Name ( Look Up the Number ) ". It was the b side of the Let It Be single. In short, John came into the studio and sang those 8 words multiple times, each time singing it differently. And from then on for the next 10 months or so every once in a while the Beatles would sing these words and play tunes to them in many funny ways having a blast doing it. They then edited the best of these together to form the released version. Its very interesting and very clever. Please check it out. I think you'll love it.
They weren't bad, were they?
