    Step thru version: lectricebikes....
    In this video I test the riding range of the Lectric XP 3.0 Long Range Edition in the Tempe, Phoenix, and Scottsdale areas of Arizona. I spend ~60% of my time in PAS level 3 and the remainder in PAS 2. Overall I'm very happy with the performance of the Lectric XP 3.0 and believe it offers a tremendous amount of value for the price. Another bonus with this bike is that it's foldable, making it ultra portable and a companion on road trips.

    I just finished another mileage check with my xp3.0 long range. This time I went 47 miles on a full charge. I weigh 220lbs and stayed in pas 2 about 85% of the time pas 1 about 15% of the time. Mostly flat terrain. Just a bit of subtle climbing here and there. Overall I’m pretty impressed with the long range battery. No way I’d want to pedal that far home like you did without pas! 😂 I’m too old for that kind of a workout!

      Nice, 47 miles is excellent! Yah the long range battery is definitely nice to have. Fewer charges, more worry free long rides. Haha the bike back with no pedal assist was definitely not as exciting as having power assist 🤣

    I just got an extended range XP 3.0 and only got 25 miles on PAS 3. I weigh 190 and mostly flat land. One thing nobody is talking about is that once battery is less than 50% charged (47 volts or less), you lose at least 30 to 40% of power. Range estimates on Lectrics site is dramatically over inflated.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yah that’s about 10 miles shorter than advertised. They say they tested with ~180lb total payload, but 10lbs won’t answer for all the 10 mile shortfall. Did you have lots of stop and go? You can adjust the sensitivity of the pedal assist. If you reduce it, you’ll do a little more work getting the bike going from a stop but it will help with range. Less power needed to get going.
      Did you get the deal with the extra battery?

      Just did my endurance test only got 33 miles I weigh 210, some hills but im super disappointed in the mileage
      Edit; I stayed between pas 1 to 3 depending on the hills in front of me, even downshifting like a pro, as I use to ride BMX when I was younger and regular mountain bikes thru my late 20s to mid 30s. Also I received my bike with a flat front tube, no owners manual, nor the second battery I paid for
      Edit 2 my seat dropped 3 times once on a steep downhill gravel road almost causing a wipe out, its great for local little runs but what I bought it for isn't realistic because they lie about the battery capabilities

      Hey! So they adjust the brakes, the derailleur, and chain. They also lube up the moving components. Made a very noticeable difference for me. Then the bike fell out of my trunk a couple weeks later when opening the tailgate because it shifted in the back when driving home. I’ll have to adjust the brakes again but will give it a go myself.

    As a rider of this bike(long range lectric 3.0) I have to say that if you do anything under PAS 3 the bike is a heavy lumbering turtle and when you get down to one bar....it loses power and you are riding it like a regular bike which.... you do not want to do..... as its like peddling while pulling a cart full of bricks. also IMO the range must be off, I see no way anyone is getting 65 miles under any circumstance with this bike unless they bring multiple batteries as there really is no optimal riding condition pretty much anywhere except lectric corporate board room pitch meetings. most places there are hills and valleys and hills again. in reality you will be surprised by how fast the bars drop off under regular bike riding.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage

    • @RandyboBandy444
      @RandyboBandy444 7 месяцев назад +4

      Most continuous ride I didn’t use the throttle even when coming to a stop I only pedaled and I did notice a big difference is torque and speed when getting to extremely low battery level, I think I’m gonna do a video of my own and maybe even get another long range battery so I can go 100 miles +

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  7 месяцев назад +3

      Ah makes sense. 100 miles would be a lot of pedaling haha. Sounds like a great idea though. Would be great for those folks who like doing cross country type biking. Throw a few batteries on the rack and you’re good to go. I know some places sell a dual battery discharge balancer kit that allows you to connect two batteries, which allows you to skip swapping out the battery.

    Too bad you didn't include the elevation of Camelback mountain. With it sitting by itself it's hard to judge scale, from your perspective it looks like only a hill in my city. I live near the rocky mountains in Canada so we got lots of big hills which are fun afternoon walks.
    But from the view you posted I'm guessing it's a lot taller than a "big hill"
    Ok it's only 200 meters shorter than Nose hill mountain in Calgary, but Calgary itself is at a higher elevation so the hight from base to top of Camelback is probably significantly longer

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  11 месяцев назад +2

      So Camelback is about 2,700 ft / 823 m and is ~1,300 ft / 396 m taller than the area that surrounds it. It’s tall enough that you can see it from most places in the Phoenix Metro area but not a Rockies grade mountain. I used to live in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and those make Camelback look tiny, but none offer 360 degree views of a metro area like Camelback does. The hike is pretty strenuous, but well worth it when you get to the top. People bring a fully decorated Christmas tree to the top every year. Pretty fun tradition haha. Definitely wouldn’t want to be the one carrying that thing up that mountain haha.

    • @LoneHowler
      @LoneHowler 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@tomsgadgetgarage Nose hill in Calgary is 1226m/4022feet but has an elevation gain of 354.2 ft. So my original guess was right though Nose hill is technically higher. Camelback has it beat in elevation gain

I definitely recommend this ride as it takes you through a lot of nice areas. Plus, there are always people out and about riding/running on the trail.
