    SMART move on doing the maintenance whether it was already done or NOT... so now you KNOW.. and as to why you'd do this to a 16 year old toyota- because it's WORTH it- and a GREAT investment... can't wait to find a good one myself.

    Thanks for the video! I have the same 05 GX470 w/rse & URD syntrifical supercharger . I've had it for A couple years and I never knew there were white running lights next to the front turn signals 😂 neither worked when I got it. I also changed everything to LEDs as well and didn't notice the
    White parking lights I will have to look into that. Thanks for your videos. I came across your channel when looking into HVAC blower motor mine started to tick and then would only work once in awhile so I will be replacing that

    The car has held up pretty well for something with 220k miles. Great to hear that you removed the air suspension, they're known to fail regardless of what car they're fitted to.

    • @mpt.yt4
      @mpt.yt4  Год назад +2

      Indeed it has! It has 260,000 miles on it now. I got my oil analyzed at 250,000 miles and it still seems to be running like a champ. And I’ve had no regrets since changing away from air suspension.

    Great story, I wish I had an ‘Aunt & Uncle’ GX 470 that was somewhat disused but far from a basket case… Easy to bring back to solid form for $2000 to $4000 of work, even a full belt job and tires etc. You probably made them weirdly proud as well.
    You won’t lose money in this truck. And FREE is good, with gas not cheap right now.

    • @mpt.yt4
      @mpt.yt4  2 года назад +1

      Definitely, I’m super thankful for them and the opportunity to have gotten it. They’ve been keeping up with the GX videos on youtube and say they’re glad it’s made its way to someone who really cares for it. And definitely. Gas is hurting my wallet but I can’t complain otherwise.

    Missing a few of the plastic covers under the hood is good. It would be even better if all of them were missing. If you’re driving one of these beyond 200k you better be prepared to DIY, and that plastic is just in the way.
    Some of these don’t have the touchscreen, which is ideal, so you don’t have to use the touchscreen for any HVAC controls. As for the more common variant like yours, you can remove the tape deck and install a single din stereo there with a special harness, then you’ve got USB. Swapping out the touchscreen is possible, but complicated and expensive.

    • @mpt.yt4
      @mpt.yt4  Год назад

      Yep-those plastic covers clean it up a bit but are totally unnecessary as I see them. Currently sitting at 262k… and you’re definitely right, repairs have definitely come up that I’d need em off for. For now, I like my stereo as is. But I definitely have thought about changing it out.

    Michael thanks so much for the video. Went through every aspect of this car and was so easy to understand. I have one which I just got with 180k miles. I want to do the timing belt job and had a quote from the dealership of 1200. I live in Maryland let me know if you could be of help or know someone that could do it cheaper. Thanks

    • @mpt.yt4
      @mpt.yt4  2 года назад +1

      Glad to hear it! Hope you enjoy it. I had somebody I know personally change out my timing belt and water pump. If you know somebody that can do the work, that's your cheapest bet. Otherwise, a non-dealer shop can definitely do the work cheaper.

    • @mpt.yt4
      @mpt.yt4  2 года назад +2

      For now, it would have enough space. However, the third row is only accessible when the second row is folded, so the seats would need to be folded down and you might have to move carseats. In the future, as kids get bigger, things might get tight. The third row is pretty small and can’t fit people nearly as comfortably.

      I never really got a chance to test out the air suspension since it was broken when I got it. But the coil springs have been great. The reviews on the kit looked good, it rides really smooth, and I’ve had several people in the car with me say the same thing.
