    Guys of course an angle grinder will cut through this.. .Name me one product that wouldn't? All you can do it try and protect yourselves from the opportunist thief its all about the deterrent and with the Litelok being Gold Secure an insurance approved tick in the box in many circumstances. Its a chain alternative which is easy to live with

      It would still be interesting to see how long a disc cutter would take. However, it is only a deterrent and I'm still thinking of getting one as it looks so much easier to carry than a chain and padlock. And as I got my new street triple rs as a result of your reviews I'll have a punt on one of these too.

      You don't need 450£ to buy a good steel bolt cutters as you say and they don't need to be so big that you can't hide them. For the first time in your channel I do really believe you were paid to say what you said, and the test you did you were told about what you could use. The premises of the test were wrong, the materials used were wrong, and the justifications about the price of the correct tool and size are really really misleading. And regarding the noise using a grinder well... It's different 5 seconds of noise from 2 to 3 minutes of noise or in the case of the grinder the neighbors don't matter anymore? So why not test it? Like I said it really looks like a really bad sustainable and badly premised paid review. At least say in big letters PAID REVIEW.

Also while out, where possible park close to other nice/r bikes and lock to a post if possible, the other bikes will be more of a target if they don't have as much or any security.

      So OK £120 for the lock which is gold approved, how much would you get off your insurance, probably £20 at the most.
      Same thing with trackers, unless you are willing to take the law into your own hands practically what use is it to the average biker.
      Your better telling the insurance company you have bare minimum protection, if you forget to fit it or it's fitted and useless, for example they just lift the bike into a van. You then have to fight them over the fact you said on your insurance policy that your bike would ALWAYS! Be secured.
      Insurance companies are cnuts who only want your premium, when it comes to paying out it's a complete different story.
      Perhaps you should do a post on insurance policies and the industry involved.
      Just my 2P

      There seems to be a question using an angle grinder. Firstly if someone wants your price and joy that's 2 or 4 wheels they will. Never in the small wee hours have I ever done a stop and search on anyone and found them in possession of an angle grinder. Bolt croppers of some description are a regular find either on them in a nearby vehicle or discarded in a Bush with the usual nothing to do with me guv comment. AG's are expensive for a decent one and you need a decent one and they make way too much noise. Bike security is about layers and making them think, "this is more trouble than its worth" I say this with 24 years of policing the UK streets and not sat in an office. Love the way Chopsy Junior dressed for the part of a scrote!! Or did he 🤷‍♂️

    Chopsy, I have an Almax chain and squire lock that will survive angle grinding but would I want to take this 15kg behemoth with me on a trip out? No. It is fine for home use but out travelling I want something that is a deterrent for the average scrote and makes them work for it until the Monimoto tells me to go check the bike. This kit is perfect for that and must be appreciated for the purpose it is meant. Easy fit, easy to travel with, insurance reducer and a delay tactic for the opportunist scrote. Also, if you ride with someone else who has one they can be doubled up. Gets my money. Great vid. Much appreciated. Show the man some respect all you doubters.

    Others have mentioned, the angle grinder attack. But then angle grinders can get through 20mm hardened chains in about a minute (see articles on Bennetts social). Yes the angle grinder makes a lot of noise. In addition to a disk lock or two, alarm and tracker, it does at least slow down the "lift the bike up on to a van" attack, so it does look useful. All you can do is slow down a determined thief, and make them think there are easy pickings elsewhere.

I bought one these as it was light and easy to carry, I also use a couple of Disc locks if I feel I need to add a bit more security when I'm parked up, all of these are easy to carry and use when out and about .. and added together I'd like to think they would move on to an easier target ..

    We use various wire cutters at the local electric utility where i recently retired from that would cut through that in under a minute. Any made for cutting steel cable will do the job including some one handed ratcheting types. The smallest one I had on my truck had 16" handles. Many of the smaller aluminum conductors have a center steel core. No angle grinder required. Stating that I will also say if you have a determined thief that knows what they're doing they will get your motorcycle, car, or anything else they're after.

    Can’t believe some of the negative comments about this review vid. I thought it was great and entertaining too. There’s nothing wrong with constructive feedback but come on guys. Of course a bloody angle grinder will get through it! What a pointless 5 second vid that would be though. It’s not made to resist that - it wouldn’t be able to strike the balance between lightness, ease of use, portability and security otherwise. That’s it’s USP. And to those saying why bother at all with security, insurance companies are just after your premium... If a bike thief comes across two bikes - one with security like a disc lock, chain, litelok, etc and one with nothing at all - which are they going to choose to nick? Nothing is impenetrable, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t therefore bother! Secure it with whatever you can afford and if that’s a litelok, it’ll be a useful deterrent. Great vid Chops - keep them coming 👍🏻

But... 3 men get out of the van, they take the bike with the wheels off the ground and put it in the van in 3 minutes. I'm with ya Lamby mate. An angle grinder will cut anything, given time - but lads - seriously - this is effectively multiple wire ropes. I can assure you, cutting wire ropes with a grinder or bolt croppers is MUCH harder than cutting a chain. My weapon of choice when out is a Pragmasis 16mm chain - but it weighs a tonne - and IFFFFFFF the attacking scrote has a battery grinder, it is much easier to hold a link down and cut it, rather than a series of wire ropes. I am a mekky eng in the steel making industry for 40 odd years, and I have been looking for the best solution in all cases, home and away - and I can confirm finally that the BEST solution, is a twin tubed device (shortened) , containing two plastic and brass containers, filled with coarse fishing lead weights and summat called "Gum" powder I think its called - although my teeth are fine 😁 (see). Just gimme a chin shot scrote, and I'll explain to you why we don't like you pinching out motorcycles.

    in the trucking industry, sometimes we would use cable seals to ensure nothing inside the trailer was tampered with. when cutting these off with bolt cutters instead of cable cutters, it could become quite a chore. if he had attacked this one cable at a time and followed up snipping anything that only got crimped with the wire cutters he joked about at the beginning, i think he would have done this in under 5 minutes.
    with that said, bolt cutters would have been better suited to cut through the lock itself, not the cable.

  • @simonburton781
    @simonburton781 4 года назад

    What these locks need is some kind of tamper protection system. Perhaps a sealed plastic sleeve containing acid or pepper spray liquid. When this is cut through at the start of the attack the criminal is unable to continue. Even hi-vis, unremovable dye (as used by security vans) would help as scumbag would be easily identified later.

  • @htdtr

    Got to say it doesnt look like that bolt cutter was adjusted properly when you tried the cutting the litelok. The arms were closing too easily and bottoming out, and I dont think the jaws were closing all the way which would make it hard to cut through something. And the fact you're sponsored by them doesn't inspire confidence tbh.

  • @Gent100
    @Gent100 3 года назад

    Sorry to rain on your parade Lamb Chops but those particular Draper bolt cutters are NOT for cutting steel, they are suitable for cutting high tensile material up to 40HRC only, they will be fine for cutting soft copper wires in your home or aluminium but you need to have the right tool to cut through steel. A higher spec cutter of the right type will cut through your Litelock in just seconds, literally.

    I’m pretty sure bolt croppers are a thing of the past. The #’s I’ve seen either lift it (great if you can put a lock round a lamppost) or use an angle grinder.. I think the tracker is a great option. I use the Almax tied between 2 bikes and 3 Abus alarmed disc locks plus CCTV. 😂 I think the combination of a bar is great with a ground anchor and a tracker.. I’m actually sick of spending money on security stuff but I’m just paranoid.. This is the reason I’ll never take anything nice into London..

    Almost any lock can be picked easily. No matter how strong the chain is. Question is, how skilled the intruder is. I do pick locks for living, legally of course. The simplicity of this procedure with the right skill makes me worry about my own bikes. I have CCTV all around my house, have an alarm fitted to a garage with two MasterBlaster sirens. The noise they make is unbearable and probably unsafe for hearing. CCTV is network connected and sends messages with pictures to my phone, when movement detected. On top of this trackers are fitted, GSM + RF beacons, in case bike will be locked in a container or somehow else GPS signal gets blocked. Only multiple layers of security can reduce risk significantly.

  • @edgeyt1
    @edgeyt1 4 года назад

    Not sure if this one is the same construction but the lock picking lawyer was through the Litelok gold in 16 seconds using cable cutters. Would it be possible for you to try something like the cutters he used (specifically for steel)? The main benefit of chains, disc locks etc is to make your bike a pain in the arse to nick so the scum take the one that has no protection.

    You're using bolt cutters to cut cable. The LPL used a fairly average tool from Amazon to cut cable. I imagine if a local scroat wanted your bike he would buy the right tool for the job. That said the liteloc is great for nipping into Tesco or something but not something that you would want to leave your bike overnight or for long periods. Also if you challenge someone to cut through it then they should be able to choose the tool of choice. All of that aside, I may buy one for scenarios I mensioned.

    Nice vid & decent real world test too. Sadly, it's always good to talk about bike security, spread the word about decent products & remind people it's imperative. I've always gone overboard with locks, chains & ground anchors etc & fortunately I've never had an issue despite living in a reasonably dodgy inner city. I've tried a Datatool alarm but found it to be a waste of time as it was too sensitive, people ignored it & it was battery killer too. Physical security is the way to go imo, except maybe a tracker but they can be quite pricey to keep going.

    One point regarding angle grinders, not knowing as to how the sleeve is created but it could well be made to have the same property as chain saw trousers, that is a fabric which is able to choke and stall a grinder till one of these experts try it how can they condem the product so easily.
    I like it and am happy to buy one, ideal to deter the opportunist thief and less grief than a chain to carry and fit , nothing is totally secure we all understand that, shame to lose the 10% due to such poor feedback.
