AAA was chef’s kiss. It’s the nostalgic late 90s and early 2000s for me. But most importantly, these girls can really sang. Their harmonies are amazing.
I think it’s normal for FLO to sound similar to 90s R&B girl groups, especially when they are their inspirations and we haven’t had an impactful group since then. Their album eats and i think it strikes a good balance between nostalgic 90’s r&b sounds and more modern sounds. They’re still pretty new to the industry and I think they will hone their sound with time.
I freakin' hate it when they always said FLO copies other girl groups, THAT'S THE POINT 😭. FLO has been consistent showing their love and appreciation from the past girl groups specially R&B one. They're always vocal about them being here to bring nostalgia of 90s/2000s R&B girl group and they never dissapoint.
I don't like any of the hate the RNB girls are getting, the girls have been holding it down in EVERY GENRE, so most of it should be going to the men who are actually slacking. Granted it would be nice to have someone in that Ciara, Beyonce, & RiRi lane, I just also understand we're still waiting for those girls. However Tyla is single handedly opening the door for those kinds of black pop/rnb girls again, so my hope is still there. That aside tho, there's literally nothing actually wrong with the female RNB acts, I wish the music wasn't so raunchy these days, but other than that, I think the women in RNB have adapted well to the times. Even Chappell Roan & Sabrina Carpenter have set a nice tone for Pop Music. Hate on these lazy ass men who halfass sing about fuckin women and leaving them for the next, while being whole junkies, with a none singing ass voice. Give them all the hate.
At the end of the day, whether we are in the 90s or 2024, you’re not gonna be able to satisfy everyone. I really love Flo’s album and you can definitely tell the influence of Destiny’s child, Blaque, Beyonce, 702, etc.. the whole girl groups 2000s aesthetic. I also hear influence of En Vogue too. I also heard tracks that were more unique and only Flo could do them. As they get deeper in their career, they will start to be more unique. I also enjoyed summer walker and sza’s recent work.
flo has been getting mad hate for no reason. i think what people don’t get is the fact that mixing 90’s rnb tropes w modern day sounds blends super well and its not just about copying the original! at the end of the day girl groups are meant to give cute bops with really satisfying harmonies and the album as a whole felt fleshed out and the songs flowed into each other well.
It’s a shame that people are spewing hate toward (female) R&B artists for engaging in well known music industry practices. It’s okay that their sound is derivative of prior groups. It’s okay that they got a rapper to feature on their song. People should be thankful folks are trying to keep R&B alive
6:04 so many ppl are constantly chasing the y2k aesthetic or hopping on any trend that has even a shred of nostalgia but FLO making old rnb/ destiny’s child type music is where they draw the line 😭
As a casual Kpop listener, I slightly disagree. BlackPink often gets dragged by Kpop listeners for having formulaic music and how YG (the label they used to be signed to) doesn’t really encourage artists to push their boundaries musically. Also, South Korea is a pretty conservative country and female Kpop artists who tend to openly express their sexuality with their songs tend to get dragged by Koreans for it. Hwasa from Mamamoo is a prime example of an artist who faces this problem.
@@christinebelzie194 I should rephrase, it's not every kpop girlie who they run behind.
