    Just a thought on the emotional experience of being in the mountains. The mountains have a way of stripping your soul down to who you really are. Especially when you have to dig down deep just to get to a certain place. There is something about seeing grandeur and beauty in those moments where you make a connection - a connection between your soul and something absolutely magnificent. There is nothing else like it.

    Really good stuff, great story telling. I did the beaten path proper the year before it flooded. Such a well maintained and beautiful trail! Cool idea to try to summit, even just getting that view looked like it was worth it! Subbed your channel for more!

      Thanks so much for your comment. I wish I could have seen it before the flood. Hopefully they're rebuilding that lower section. It was a disaster! Happy trails.

      I'm grateful for your feedback. Thank you so much for watching my films. I'm trying to improve and have a ways to go...and am enjoying the process. It is even more gratifying if a few people enjoy the stuff I'm creating. So, thank you!

    The fire tower at top turn towards tower is the ridge. It is barren goes out a few miles drops you right in middle granite lake area. North of big meadow. We camp on the big granite knobs above. North of meadow.
    IT IS GRIZZLY CENTRAL. BIG TIME.
    Barronette is best peak up there. Go up ridge from ice box canyon. Or go out to Spirit Mountain.
    And as I always say, there is nothing up there but rocks. Once high.

    Masterful documentation and narration of your latest journey, lots of emotion there and here. You knit together images and emotions with words and themes that cut to what matters.

    Your video work and narration is superb as always! As good as and as enticing as documentary work. The best you can find on RUclips for hiking videos. Your trip was phenomenal, given all the problems related to last year flooding and the bad weather you encountered. Granite Peak will be there... and it will welcome you the next time! Your video is great inspiration for me to finally hike there as well - as I cancelled my trip there last summer.

      Thank you very much. I watched both of your Winds vids yesterday and the new one in the Dolomites. Spectacular! Be sure to put the Absaroka-Beartooth on your must-do list. It is heavenly country....and yes, Granite awaits!!

      @@whistlepig - YES, Absaroka-Beartooth is in my must-do list and I did scope out some itineraries last year when I thought I was going to do it. I would have some questions for you as you have been there... On another note: take a look at the Pale di San Martino Loop video in the Dolomites. You will enjoy it. The place is surreal. It is like backpacking on the Moon...

    Aren’t drones illegal there?

  • @sluggotinfantryman
    @sluggotinfantryman 2 месяца назад

    Those berries he is eating are why it is Grizzly Central. 5 or more types. So if a lot of them beware.
    More types of berries than anywhere in USA. I don't go into the Gorge side. Stay above 8500. Preferably 9000.

    Nice video, but it is illegal to fly drones in the wilderness. Please don't fly drones in wilderness areas

      People are way worse than drones. Impact wise. Way.
      The Beartooth is best area in the USA to hike in the summer. #1. RUclips has made every location in America known.

    I wanted to watch but as soon as I saw drone footage I bailed. What mediocremountainman said

    • @whistlepig
      @whistlepig  8 месяцев назад

      That's interesting. What bothers you about the drone? I'm asking sincerely because I don't quite understand how polarizing they are. I understand they are illegal to fly over crowds or to harass wildlife with, but I don't do these things. I simply use them sparingly away from people to get new and creative perspectives.

    • @Dorfhiker
      @Dorfhiker 8 месяцев назад

      @@whistlepigSince you asked respectfully I’ll answer the same way.
      I don’t have a beef with drones per se but they are illegal in wilderness areas and when I saw the drone footage over Fossil Lake I got a little pissed and commented.
      If everyone “sparingly” did something they aren’t supposed to in wilderness areas there wouldn’t be a lot of wilderness left. Maybe a little hyperbolic but I’m sure you get it.
      To me it’s not unlike the touron in Yellowstone who has to get a selfie 10’ from a bison or wanders off the boardwalk in thermal areas. It comes off as entitled.
      Now, I have to say the minute I did watch was very good and it pained me to turn it off as I love the Beartooths and have probably done a dozen backpacking trips there.
      You have a talent for this so I’ll probably end up watching anyway. Good luck to you.

      I appreciate your view, and understand the argument as you've made it. I wish all people could engage in conversation like this instead of name calling like I've seen elsewhere. Thanks again...and happy trails.@@Dorfhiker

      Drones in wilderness are a huge deflation for me, pains me every time I see it, as they are illegal yet common.
