    Heyyyyyyy,
today I want to share a skincare routine using only products from The Ordinary.
Because I've made it clear that I no longer use The Ordinary that much, people think I hate them, or are being paid to insult their products! That's not the case at all! I just prefer nicer feeling formulations. But these products are products that I will always have to hand, and always buy!

    • @JamesWelsh

Yeah I think they did an amazing job at introducing the world to these types of single ingredients but also there is often so much confusion around the products. What you can and can’t use together, what Ingredients actually do etc etc

    • @melissas4874
      @melissas4874 3 года назад +24

It looks like a good brand if you have sensitivity issues. By using separate serums you can likely figure out what products to avoid. I don't think it's necessary a "starting point". It's just that some of us have more sensitive skin and can't use the multi-ingredient products.

    • @postalboxed
      @postalboxed 2 года назад +3

@@melissas4874 This is what I find both fascinating and frustrating about figuring out skincare. My sensitive skin has a hard time with how strong some of their formulas are. I can't use the niacinamide, for example. But I also get that the short ingredient list is also helpful for sensitive skin, even just as a way to narrow down what's causing issues.

    HERE IS SOME ADVICE!
I have been employed by Deciem /The Ordinaryfor over 2.5 years at one of the counters in Melbourne Australia. When you are looking into the products, it is definitely easier if you know what you're trying to target in your skin (e.g. uneven tone, uneven texture, hydration, signs of aging). I would recommend focusing on the top 3 main skin concerns and try to find products that target those specific concerns. That way it makes things easier when choosing products to try. You shouldn't really need more than 5 products from The Ordinary, when it is over 5 products it gets hard to put them into an AM and PM routine. Especially when some categories/products aren't recommended to be used with each other.
    ❤️👏

i’m glad you made this video because we all know a lot of people who started to dive in with skincare started with the ordinary and may have even started the popularity of skinfluencers. i remember when i started last year that it is the company that everybody suggests and praises and then skincare youtube became more popular and clickbait the name Ordinary but almost trashes them and then gets affiliate links with other companies of maybe even a collab. like naming a video why i’m moving on from the ordinary or why i no longer is the ordinary coz we know that it will get views. i still use some of their products and have moved on as well with other companies as i get more comfortable and have gained a bit of knowledge with skin care and would still recommend them to friends who are just diving into skin care.
another thing is that sometimes it’s so hard to use other products with names that’s just so confusing when they all are let’s say niacinamide that’s why single ingredient products like the ordinary is much easier.

For me I use multiple ordinary products including:
    -Niacinamide
-Aha bha acid peel (no more than twice a month but usually only need it once)
    -Glycolic acid 7% toning solution
-caffeine solution 5% + EGCG for around the eyes only
    -the buffet
I don’t use them all together but I can tell what my skin needs pretty well now and can pin point what products will help with whatever I’m dealing with and that’s why I love these products from them. I agree that their moisturizers aren’t it though. I use Cerave night cream when my skin is especially dry and after I use a acid peel and everyday I use Clinique moisture surge 100 hour (makes my skin feel AMAZING and works well with ANY SPF that I put on after). I also use cerave hydrating cleanser in the morning and I’m still looking for the perfect night cleanser but am currently using something that was gifted to me by Sephora that I can’t remember the name of but I’m not a big fan. (For my toner that I use more often than the ordinarys, I use paulas choice aha one).

I love the Ordinary, but James and Hyram have totally changed how I use their products. Now I look for products elsewhere that have two or more of my main actives combined, but use the Ordinary for little top-ups - the AHA/BHA peeling solution and the Azelaic acid are my hero products (am I the only one who loves how TO's Azelaic acid feels on their skin?!)

My mom was an esthetician so I've grown up scrutinizing skin care labels which is why I was so interested in The Ordinary. I've had to switch my cleanser to Mad Hippie because I found the squalane cleanser not as moistuizing and I use Andalou Naturals for my moisturizer. Generally speaking you do not have to spend a ton of money to get quality skin care but you do have to do your research.

The milk makeup vegan moisturizer is great! 🥰 Also, the ordinary Niacinamide does kinda sting my skin and make it a tad red but, it goes away quickly once I add my moisturizer.

My The Ordinary favorites for dry and sensitive skin are:
    Squalane cleanser
    Marine Hyaluronics
    Lactic Acid 5% + HA
    Retinol 0,2% + Squalane
    Squalane Oil
Ascorbic tetraisopalmitate + Vitamin F (Vitamin C derivative)
I don't use them all at once obviously but they work for me, don't break the bank, and definitely don't burn my skin 😊

Love your vid James! Been seeing the best results over time from the AHA mask that I know so many you tubers are hesitant to recommend bc of how people use it wrong and it's so strong but my skin is GLOWING & it's my holy grail I'm just super careful and only use it like once or 2x a month

@@totakoke yeah, I have a lot korean skincare as well. I love their basic skincare set so I can put only 1 active ingredient in my routine. But, inkey list are more on the pricey side. So that's why I'd rather buy The Ordinary. It's more affordable and effective for me.

I recently started using The Ordinary. So far , so good 👍
After summer I want to use retinol. I hope everything goes well. As a mosturizer I am using Neutral. Super cheap and I have both day cream and night cream but I am using them depending on how dry my skin feels. It gives me a good hidration, my skin feels good. I really like this cream for my face.

Hey James, thanks for the new video! Very informative 👌
Also, I can really recommend the "Soon Jung " line from Etude house. Its really great for sensitive skin and helped me repair my skin barrier a lot quicker than normal. Its also fragrance free and really gentle.
I haven't tried the cleansers though, only the Toner and different moisturisers, but it really stopped my skin from breaking out and got it nice and hydrated 😊👍
(I mainly use the Shiseido perfect whip cleanser which I can also recommend!)

Listening to this while I'm doing my the ordinary skin care routine:
•I genuinely do not like the cleanser. I have a normal to oily skin and I need to feel like I have cleaned my face and this does not leave me with that feeling. Also the "foaming" is so weird and you have to put so much in order to feel like its doing its job.
•I agree on the Salicylic Mask, I do get that little tingling feeling on my cheeks and my skin is sensitive as well. So i normally dont stay with it for the full 10 minutes.
•I love the combination of Matrixyl+Argireline, my face really enjoys it.
•Niacinamide I think was too much for my skin or the percentage was too high, because whenever I use it my face gets irritated.
P.S - I dont use them combined. I have some nights where I use the Vichy Mineral 89 because my skin is not hydrated. I use the niacinamide only once a week, trying to integrate it into my skincare routine really slowly and for the rest of the nights I use Matrixyl+Argireline.

I’m personally absolutely loving the Beauty Bay skincare line (thank you so much James for your videos about them!) I feel like you can create a good well-rounded skincare regime without needing 20,000 different products. Still a sucker for The Ordinary’s AHA/BHA vampire face mask though =p

I used their products for several months and they have saved my skin! I used to get awful breakouts around my chin every month and now I’m getting less of them. I also use the KosRx snail mucin power essence and that has also helped in clearing up my face. My back however is a another story. I think it could be from my shampoo (it’s scented and has coconut oil in it) so I’m switching out to another formula soon.
