Another indicator that it's an earlier deuce is that it has the "box" drivers seat. The hood number of 04E 72869 is an US Army number and would indicate it was delivered in 1969. I would download the service manuals for it as they have the wiring diagrams and all the wires are numbered.
@@isaacitllbefine7231 No problem, I've been working with these old military vehicles for quite a while. I've had my Deuce since about 2005. I noticed that it looks like yours might be a bit of a mutt out of assemble parts. The front bumper with the loops is a USMC specific bumper, but the truck has a few Army items as well. The inside of the passenger door shows an NK number which would have been from an 80's era truck. This is quite common in the surplus world of these trucks for someone or a place like White Owl to piece together a truck out of good parts from several trucks.
If you're having electrical problems, I feel bad for you son. You've got 99 problems, but the switch ain't one. Love the videos, keep up the good work!
You didn't put the top down! Cool, old rig. You have a historical vehicle there. See if you can find it's background then make a decision about the paint scheme. When I was in the Air Forc, we had to test for a flightline driver's test. After we got through the school and tes, the driving portion was next. Out of about 25 peopl, I was the only one that could drive a manual transmission. Outside he had one of the 5 ton wreckers. Since everyone else was released, we both had the day. Although the switches and other things were a bit odd, I had driven big trucks before. We did the flightline part, and then we took care of some of his errands. That was an exciting and terrifying day. While I was used to trucks, the base environment was really new. Cheers Terry
This is my favorite project. Fixing up the old giant military trucks, visiting cool surplus and getting all the old parts. It's awesome. I want to do a project like this someday. Good job on the wiring and brakes 👍🏻
Isaac, thanks for showing us ur newest truck/ Deuce 1/2. I was in the Army as a Diesel Mechanics Specialize, all vehicles with a diesel, some jeeps, tanks. Ur truck brought me back to the good ole days..
When it is wet it looks very tidy and clean .. maybe just a matt clear coat would be cool and keep the patina Ike ??? . Eather way it's highly desirable and I love it !!!
Question for you, so the colors of the truck looked awesome when it was wet so does that mean if you wanted to spray a clear coat on the current paint it would pop as much as it did when it was wet? I realize there is differences in clear coats such as Matt, semi gloss, high gloss but would any clear coat enhance the paint as much as when wet or just a high gloss? Anyhow the trucks are pretty cool.
27:42 That horn does not match that truck! 😂 Other than that it's awesome! 29:51 I like the forest green color, and maybe you could paint the stars back on the hood and the sides of the door!
Yeah man, finding problems on a vehicle like this, especially brakes.... lol, would prompt me to do both back ones while I'm already there. That way you can obviously look at both side along w/ all the lines feeding fluids to it. Stopping this PiG is like the utmost of importance. That said, your idea about having a "parts" vehicle is just a wise move, in my humble opinion. I hope you share the video while you do these brakes - I'll never own one but I like seeing heavy sH!Te being worked on. peace
That wrench is invaluable when I was a field service rep I had one saved my bacon many times when there was no air mine you could inter change between 3/4 and 1 inch sockets by flipping the adapter on the wrench havnt seen one of those in forever
Happy New Year Issac. 🎉 watching from Colorado and I got to say it's good to see a big o'l smile on your face at the end of the video. It shows that you are enjoying your adventure in life. So many cool rides and projects not to mention parts and I know you don't show us all of them😂 but hey I dont either except to my exceptional close friends and family 😂 keep bringing us on this adventure with you.
Personally I like the heat shrink tubing that has a solder bead in it. It makes a super reliable solder joint that gets further sealed in by the heat shrink.
That's some truck, not sure which one I like best. Back in the 90's for a short time I made wiring harnesses for Landrover defenders and Range Rovers, bearing in mind they had lots of electric bells and whistles and love to see the full harness for one of the deuce and a half trucks to see the difference.... and check the level of workmanship for the taping and the joints ;)
Paint it black ( it looked black after you hosed it down ) with teeth like an A-10 warthog . Also put targets on it both British ( circular ) style , and German ( square ) style . And put part icons that are easy to recognize on the driver and passenger doors like a fighter plane would have . And don't forget the TP ( ?? )Tire pressure over the wheels. You can put a IBFCC ( It'll be fine Cars and cameras) on the front and back bumpers . All of which can be done with a brush and roller over time during barbeque paint parties in the spring . Spray clear when it's done and be prepared for photographs. I did something similar to an old Ranchero and more often then not when I would exit a business people would be posing and taking pictures with it . Edited to add , I had a yellow and black checkered flag on my driver door for caution and I had a white and black checkered flag on the passenger door . My drivers side had bombs on it while the passenger side had peace , love , and happiness symbols . I called it Warren Peace
If it has any air tank function on it then get a air seat like truckers. Also see if the new harness wires have numbers on each wire and make yourself a wiring diagram. On transit buses they have similar canon plugs like behind the ignition switch and they have wires numbered. So they may be different colors too. If they’re not different colors they should at least be numbered. One bus manufacturer has the same technology as the others. There’s a saying not all greens are grounds, but all grounds are green. Meaning any ground on your truck should be green never another color. Also find some trucking outfitter to get probably a Buss brand fuse box rated for the truck. They have 8 circuit boards and others too. Good luck
Well, you are definitely explaining on why I don't see many on our paved roads but then, I've only seen one Dune Buggy fiberglass kit on the road too! It's because of the insane licensing laws making them off road only. I'd drive a short deuce around town in a heartbeat!
FYI on military titles, we have hand receipts and dispatch request forms. You can't just drive the vehicle whenever you want. And the commander has to sign off on the dispatch papers. God, it was such a hassle get vehicles dispatched.
There is a famous collector/junkyard in Tucson AZ Jack’s Government Surplus Trucks has I believe several acres of military vehicles. They seldom sell but is a great source of information and fun to visit. I believe I saw one field with door to door parked further than I could see from the road.
Oh Hell Yea!! Hey Isaac, is it possible to flush out the original break fluid and replace it with a product that is more readily available from a favorite parts store? something like DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid? Keep up the great work with your "down home" shade tree mechanic techniques that you share with us viewers. OG fan of your 'other' channel. Peace & Care
Do you know a British military truck known as a. Quad gun tractor? It was second war, used to haul a twenty- five pounder artillery piece and limber to hold shells. It is so odd looking (some might say ugly,) that it’s beautiful. Did I mention British? All flat sheet metal...even the fenders a simple curve.. a VW bug chassis could be used as a for a very nice side -by- side version. Check out on inter webs. Cheers.
I would go with black if you end up repainting it. It would look pretty cool, and I don't think that I've seen one in anything other than green or camo.
@isaacitllbefine7231 Thanks for your reply. Is there any chance you will do one of the trecks to one of your properties. Lived the 500 mile to abandoned barn. All the best
Ah the green crusties of ruined wiring, though pretty scary to think there's no fuses in there, I guess they just assumed that the wiring would blow like a fuse if it needed to... :P
its a great rig. still boggles my brain why it doesnt have air brakes but oh well. as far as camo scheme goes i think where you are at jungle camo would be best. but i wouldnt argue against desert. btw dont you hate it when u buy a "parts rig" and it turns out to be too nice to part it out? lol
As a former Marine and Motor transport operator i can firmly say any truck from us was whooped to death before we sent it to DRMO 😅 you know, to make sure it was still good 😂
Oh ok. Did you know that the "H" models not only (obviously) have the 4-speed manuals, but they also have a specially long crankshaft where the flywheel goes on to accommodate room needed for a spark advance mechanism that's built into the flywheel? And it really makes them run a lot better. Just asking is all.
Killer projects. hmm now need a 3rd for parts? o0 The one with the enclosure could be great for a camper. Bed is prob more practical for C&Cameras and most stuff you do, or?

Nothing more permanent than a temporary fix that works 😂
I left work Early JUST to watch this!! Anything with a damn deuce is worth it. 🎉
You didn't put the top down!

Good work Issac , worked a little on 2 1/2 trucks when I was in the Army 76-80 , brought back a lot of good memories , thank you .
I don't blame you Ike working out in the cold ❄ on veicals is miserable and good I'dea for adding some fuses to the wiring harness 👍
Great truck, I'd love to have one. I stopped by your brother's shop the other day, it was very nice to meet him. Seems like a good dude.
Thanks for the support!
It's so cool to see you have a broad spectrum in taste of vehicles.
Thanks, I've always enjoyed a wide range of automobiles.

Yea it probably would look better
"People compliment me everywhere i go" made me chuckle and like the video.
Looks great Isaac, I'd be really nervous about driving a rig that big, but I love the look.
Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Glad you enjoyed it
been waiting for this video
Excellent Video Issac :) I never worked on those trucks but heard be challenging to fix up also ! Take in steps all works for best!
Two new cool toys!
A couple cans of water proofing for the canvas, and warm boiled linseed oil over the body will keep that fresh for a couple years.
27:42 That horn does not match that truck! 😂 Other than that it's awesome! 29:51 I like the forest green color, and maybe you could paint the stars back on the hood and the sides of the door!

👣👣 COOL VIDEO'' GO CARS AND CAMERA'' 👊👍

At least you can get endless supplies for that beast
Deuces do not have fuse boxes just circuit breakers behind the light switch. Fuel pump is the only fuse location.
You should get them patina preserving cans of juice and keep the old look!? Itll shine it up a hair
You're adding value to those trucks regardless :)
I'm trying to
Not really my thing, but cool to see you chasing down the problems and getting them taken care of. Nice video.

Thanks! I love it.
Friday!! Best day of the week! Have a good weekend Ike!
That torque multiplier is cool af!
👍👍👍 That is awesome.

What a beast, find yourself fifth wheel trailer for hauling cars too!
Love these trucks. 😊😊😊
Me too!
Looks like a fun truck…

Compliment magnet ☺️
Just needs a wipe down with Puddin's Sweet Patina. What a beutiful sound when its rolling.

Hope it doesn't still have the split ring tires those can be dangerous. The air over hydraulic brake suck. Hard to keep working.

Its a better fluid
So glad you didn't use tge other one for parts.

Had a 4x4 ww2 that I had a 1970’s straight 6 put in with a cable well driller on back. Drilled Md. and Pa. 40 years
Well done
Always enjoying your videos Isaac ❤️. Really glad I got a close up look last week 🙂. This Old Man from Washington NC loves watching you work. 🛵🧔💝
❤❤
The Trail 70 is a good backup.
I would go with black if you end up repainting it. It would look pretty cool, and I don't think that I've seen one in anything other than green or camo.
I like the duecebago.
great stuff thanks
WERE is the yellow vet at????
Be careful of the park brake. Guys used to forget they were set and drove off. Didn't take long to burn the brakes.
Pin "F" should be the power to the switch.
Thanks Issac. You might want to see about any cross referencing for future stuff you may need incase you cant find something.
I wanted one when I was a teenager back in the 70's, but had no idea where to find one.
if that gear oil is burnt ,you will be needing a shower ,or your dog wont even be your friend . 😁
Great truck, great sound! When you say brake lights do you mean rear lights?
Brake lights and tail lights
@isaacitllbefine7231 thanks for that, didnt know if it was one of the bonnet/hood issues 😄
@isaacitllbefine7231 Thanks for your reply. Is there any chance you will do one of the trecks to one of your properties. Lived the 500 mile to abandoned barn. All the best
What about wheel seal it should of been installed in hub with bearing it might leak now. Thanks for video
Bearing and seal was stuck on there. Ill have to cut them off to replace them
Ah the green crusties of ruined wiring, though pretty scary to think there's no fuses in there, I guess they just assumed that the wiring would blow like a fuse if it needed to... :P
Where can you get one of those power multipliers?
Northern tools and Amazon has them. Just look up torque multiplier
Do you need a CDL to rock ones of theae down the road?
Back in the day, we would burn the saturated shoes and the oils would bubble out. peace
Could do a splatter paint job on it for something totally different 🤔
How about keeping it the same color but with camo stripes on the hood? Not a serious suggestion just thought it would be unique.
its a great rig. still boggles my brain why it doesnt have air brakes but oh well. as far as camo scheme goes i think where you are at jungle camo would be best. but i wouldnt argue against desert. btw dont you hate it when u buy a "parts rig" and it turns out to be too nice to part it out? lol

Blackout light switch on?

No it isnt

The one with the enclosure could be great for a camper. Bed is prob more practical for C&Cameras and most stuff you do, or?
I had the green ST90 in 1978
you put that hub back on without pulling that bearing off , the seal has to be pressed back in the hub, its going to leak gear oil bad.
Bearing was stuck on there. Ive got to order a new one
I'm a little surprised that a deuce and a half didn't come with air brakes.
I'd be on the move to purchase a foghorn for that thing
That needs to be a tee shirt people love my duece lol
You could convert it into an RV camper
Hey Isaac 👋
Hi bro from west Alabama
i had a 56 with a old gas 235 inline 6
I always taught all those trucks had air brakes which would be better
Brakes blew because of all the weight it was hauling with those bikes id bet.
Being a military vehicle im suprised they didnt use a ckt bkr but what i know i was navy lol
You can buy a jar of liquid rubber that dries like the original insulation.
Love want you do brother.
Wait till u get 5 ton trucks 😂
Hello Isaac
Series will include the phone call counter 😂😂😂
Lol. Yea i get alot of phone calls
For some odd reason I thought Issac was buying a 3rd duece and a half 🤔
I think that it would look killer painted with gun metal paint
paint them a bright signal orange
Surprised it's not airbrake. But It's an awesome kart and nike hauler. Oh who's the bald guy?
Hes a friend
I see a series
