I’m officially back in the states BTW! Getting our vaccines soon and probably just gonna take a break for the next couple weeks. Also, got a wedding gig coming up right after lol my first wedding since the pandemic. I forgot what to do, please pray for me 😂 Anyway, if you’re celebrating, Happy Memorial Day! Get that BBQ going! If not, Happy June! See ya all very soon!
hey man, good luck on the wedding shoot haha. For the vaccine, the first shot for me was ok, nothing bad. Second shot was ok too, just felt tired and warm for the day after. Next day, back to normal. It feels so nice; it's like a weight lifted off your shoulders. I really want to visit SK one day. But I'm in this weird phase of life where I really can't think about serious travel like that til my graduate studies finish. It's hard to relax when there is so much work to be done. Hopefully, one day I'll take that trip and bring my cutesy A7c for the memoriessss.
@@thatsreallyamoon hey man thanks for sharing! Glad to know the 2nd shot wasn't too bad for you, it's the one that i am def a lil more concerned about haha Good luck with your studies! The world isn't too ready for travels yet but I'm betting by the time you're done, more places would be opened up! Hang in there!
Hey @Jason Vong, how does street photography work in Korea? I know the law regarding this is pretty chill in the USA, but in Germany, I better ask every one for permission first, and even get a model release contract before publishing stuff online... You probably can imagine that street photos of ppl, like the great one you took of the lady in the restaurant are basically not possible if you give a damn about the law..
I'm Korean Film Maker. I'm touched that you took a picture in Korea. I'm always looking at your tutorials and getting a lot of inspiration. Thank you so much.
Always amazed how even though at the same place, how different photographers capture the moment. Vignetting is said to overkill the photo, but I love how you utilize it to give it a different feeling to it. Specially when it comes to street photos at night time, it seems to add a drop of reality to it.
Come visit again someday, Korea is always quickly morphing and reimagining itself. Glad you all enjoyed it here and got a lot of good pictures out of it. Its so true on feeling safe walking around. No one will ever rob you no matter the gear you have on its quite surprising how safe it is even in the dark alleyways... BTW We took care of the previous zombie problem, just for you, so you all could get a nice trip to Busan and all the other places. You just missed out. LOL Good luck on your wedding shoot.
Longer lens, but I just got the 135mm GM and I feel about it the way you feel about the 50GM. I can't put it down and I've been gushing about it since the day I put it on my RIV. That bokeh wide open is to die for.
Korea is just awesome, Love Seoul, travelled the last time end of 2019 there. Hope that I can go back there and also to Tokyo next year. Keep them coming Jason, enjoyed a lot these Korea vids. Cheers from Germany.
Welcome back to the State, Jason. I like how you interpret the street photos differently than most of the locals throughout your shots. What you see on the street as a foreigner is often ignored by someone like me who thinks there's nothing special about it. It seems like you emphasized giving a high contrast night photography for this episode! 👍🏼💯
You and Vivian are living your best life and your craft is getting so refined . Loved these shots and have been inspired by them , as always. Hmm, maybe I now "need" the 50 G Master !!!
The irony of seeing Noe's picture in a gear review video hahaha But everybody should definitely follow the dude, he's one of my biggest influence in photography.
nice presentation and pictures. is it much better than cheaper F/1.8 ? In my case, I am often afraid being too narrow and, even if I have a50mm F/1.8, most of the time I am using a 35mm F/1.8 and, if needed, crop in Lightroom.
Jason, I have a Sony 50mm/1.8 connected to my A6600 and the motor (servo in the lens) constantly making noise. What I’m I doing wrong or is this normal???
Hey, Planning to buy a6400 in couple of days. I do fashion photography specifically. I'm confused about the lenses. Considering sigma 30mm and 56mm or tamron 17-70.... Cannot invest more than $900.... so please suggest.... Thank you in advance, Love from India.
Hey, I have the Sony a1 with the 50mm 1.2 gm. But I’m so scared to put it into the rain? I saw you just did a rain photoshoot and it looks like you don’t cover the camera at all. Do you recommend me to go for it? You think I’ll be good on a light rain?
Hi Jason I used my sony 50 mm f1.2 lens with the Sony A7s 3 in low light wth the christmas tree with lights as the background, me and my wife had blurry face using sony remote . What should be the setting on my A7s3?
Mr Vong. Love your videos. I learn so much from them. But I must know if you have new Sony ZV-e10 in your position. I know you are on embargo. But in your next video blink once for yes and twice for no.
hard to say since it ranges from ISO 100 - 3200 lol some of the ones i was shocked to see only ISO 250. Others were like 1600. It really varies since I was shooting on Av priority
Hi Jason! Im a big fan of your work and I will have one question for you today, I hope you will answer me :) I’m about to start a big project about portrait videography, interviews of people outside and I’m very hesitant about the lense I should buy. For now I shoot only video, with my Sony Alpha 7iii and a Sony 85mm and a Tamron 28-75mm. Should I buy the Sony 24mm G Master or the 35mm 1.8 to film portraits? Thanks a lot!!
I think what you have right now is good enough tbh. What would the 24/35 give you that the 28-75 can't accomplish? And if you can setup your shot, the 85 would be really nice for talking head interviews.
Man, I wish cameras like these with such awesome low-light performance were available when I lived in Seoul. My Sony a300 DSLR couldn't get past ISO 400 without crazy noise in night shots. I hated resorting to my smartphone camera to capture the beauty of the cherry blossoms at Seokchon Lake or griminess of Hongdae at night. Your Korea videos really make me want to go back for a photography tour!
The quality of these shot wow, even behind a youtube screen ! How can you manage to shot in 1.2 a landscape and everything seems razor sharp ???! Can anyone light me up on that ???
This video makes me want to grab my Nikon D5500 and go street photography in central London. I also want to go back to South Korea it's been like 12 years since I visited
Great video! I enjoy your videos even though I’m a Nikon shooter. I wished I liked the 50mm length, I just never cared for it. I’m a travel, street, night time and landscape shooter. Maybe I need to give a 50mm another try.
Wow! Love the images. I like how you explained what you liked with them and where more DoF can be useful. I keep trying to convince myself that the ZA 50 is good enough. Once the A1 ever finally gets to me I might change my mind. :p Hoping to see an 85 GM Mark II or even an 85 f1.2 come out soon.
This is exactly the sort of subject I'm always looking for, so of course I watched the sponsored part of the video. And even the post video ad by Nikon?🤨 I'm feeling targeted by Nikon, its like they already know that their f1.8 line of primes makes them a candidate if I should jump ship from Sony. Or darn cookies tracking my clicks? 😅 ISO up to 12.8K with acceptable grain on a high MP count A1 sensor? Makes me wonder what the low light performance will be on the 4th generation A7 even if the MP count creeps up a bit.
Boss i have a small request to those who are having RUclips channel and post videos like this about camera and lenses review, Please don't edit and show this is taken from camera! with editing skills you can even match a mobile shot to DSLR shot, what people want to see is straight out of camera how does shots look like so they can make a decision about purchase. you can post both graded and ungraded version of photos and videos to see diff - but not fully edited shots, because with your edited photos we buy camera and when we see the pics its no way close to what we have seen in these videos !! thanks for reading.

Wowowowwow!! Look who's on ur video!!!
Who's that handsome man? 😂
Love the orange and blue contrasts in the photos! Absolutely mesmerizing! This lens is a freaking beast! 💯✔️🔥
Amazing photos. I assume to get the same effect on an APSC crop (X 1.6?) sensor e.g. Sony A6400, you would need a 30mm lens, yes?
Great shots 😍😍😍
Jason your night photography is impeccable

Really love this series of your photos! And the lens is magic too! I ordered 50GM yesterday :-)

Ayyy we got the korea street photography vid! So much fun just walking in the streets.
hell yeah! 😎
Not sure whether it is rude or nor, but I really want to ask how editing the photo colour showing in this video. Really like this orange and teal tone
How did you prevent the lights getting overexposed at night?
tbh it was probably a bit overexposed but I just made sure to do myself with the exposure and if anything, raise the shadows in post
Wow the new 50 mm GM is great I got to get one .! Thank you Jason for the video can u do the new G 14 mm .
I wasn't around for them to send me a test unit but I'm definitely requesting for it! I'm eyeing that lens myself!
I'm planning on taking this lens along with the 24mm GM to New Zealand next year!
You use UV fliter or just lens cap?
no filters
The irony of seeing Noe's picture in a gear review video hahaha But everybody should definitely follow the dude, he's one of my biggest influence in photography.
yes, noe is insanely talented! i learned so much from him during all our lil photo walks
I always thought the 50mm was THE street photography lens. What other focal lengths wouod be considered typical for street? 35mm?
7:16 Perfection...
Nicely done. Good use of the 50 1.2.
Now I really want to visit Seoul 😁 Great video!!! ❤️
thank you! and its def spot to go to!
Interesting to share the photos you have taken and the story behind.
Excellent video! Great work!
Ahhh this was beautiful! I need to go out on the streets of london with the 50mm 1.2 I’ve just picked up and learning how to use!
gogogogo! how's london right now? it's opened up?

Any info on the weebill 2 yet?
Thanks for the nice and informative videos!! How does this 50/1.2 work on older models such as a7II. I own the the A7M2 but can't afford an upgrade...
Should be fine! New and better glass will always trump a newer body!
I was very impressed with all the great pictures from the opening. I was impressed by the pictures that were taken from the Blade Runner film.
wow it’s so beautiful 🥺
Glad to see your take on Seoul street photography! It's such an amazing spot like Tokyo :)
Thanks man! 😆

Great photos! Is it okay to have the camera and lens out in the rain??
Not really. Get mold eventually or screw up the electronics. Cover the hot shoe.

not personally, what are the IBIS issues?
What is that song in the background...
If I have a 50 f1.2, do you think getting the 85mm makes more sense or 135mm as my next prime? I am thinking maybe 85mm is a bit too close to 50mm.
