    What is your opinion on tissue-foil vs single/double tissue? I have been using tissue-foil for my models and it is a real pain preparing it :(

    • @PaperFloworigami
      @PaperFloworigami  4 года назад +7

      I pretty much hate tissue foil for most uses. First of all I don't like making it, second it's often an extra hassle to hide the foil, unless you sandwiched it. Third it's hard to get a pretty result. There's plenty of people that can pull it off but t'you get harsh shapes quickly and your lodel gets a bit of a metallic look. Also it doesn't reverse fold at all. So pretty much all it's good for is easy shaping, though still hard to get nicely curved shapes. Like I said in the video: if you can, try using thin kraft instead of foil. It looks better, folds way better and shapes really well too. So yeah I also usually prefer double tissue over tissue foil. Unless if I actually want to give my model the shiny look.

    • @PaperFloworigami
      @PaperFloworigami  3 года назад

      Hi, sorry for the late response. You probably already tried using that paper and I guess it's too thick? If you can find a bit more thin kraft out there it would work perfectly, though it's not so easy to shape nicely. If you can glue 2 sheets of tissue paper together I'd guess that'd work best

      Haha MC, which is short for methyl cellulose. Easiest way to get it is as the little boxes of wallpaper glue powder that you need to solve in water. There's plenty of videos on how to treat paper with mc or if you search how to make double tissue you can find the same. I also show it in my Groot video about preparing the paper. Have fun!

      @@PaperFloworigami is MC for making the paper harden? what are the ways to keep models in tact... i use regular paper/printer paper and am just a beginner... the models legs, chests and finer details always widen up and i want to prevent that... (• ▽ •;) i want to use the models for playing D&D so they will have to be durable too... would spray varnish work?

    • @PaperFloworigami
      @PaperFloworigami  Год назад

      @@betulkorkut5215 the MC is like a glue, to keep the layers from spreading apart like you mention. You can put it in between the layers after folding too. It will also harden the model a bit. To really harden it once in the desired shape spray varnish is a good idea too. Make sure to use matte varnish and spray little amounts in between drying so it doesn't get too shiny.

      also do you recommend painting before varnish or after? and what kind of paint... that is important too

    • @BaNuj
      @BaNuj Месяц назад

      @@betulkorkut5215 i think i know what you want to achieve. I was also thinking about painting finished models, and the easiest solution was to use airbrush paints.
      Important thing is to NOT use water soluble paints, and paint it little by little. Otherwise some folds could unfold during painting.
      The best way before painting would be priming the model with few layers before the main paints.
      PS: I'm also begginer in origami, but i painted some paper models before.
      I hope I helped
