"This collection of dishes comes from Kashmir the land of exquisite scenic beauty. Kashmiri cuisine has been influenced by the cooking traditions of its various invaders and is a harmonious fusion of several cultures.
Some of the finest gourmet delicacies form a part of this cuisine. Unlike other parts of India, the Kashmiri brahmin is allowed to eat lamb and fish. Traditionally chicken and eggs were considered unclean and not cooked in the Pundit kitchen, but with the passage of time this belief has disappeared and many lamb recipes are now cooked with chicken as a variation. Yakhni - a rich meat stock cooked in yogurt, Hak - a leafy green vegetable cooked in spices and boiled rice form a characteristic Kashmiri meal. Roganjosh - a meat preparation is necessary to complete a typical spread. Goshtaba and Rista are gourmet delicacies that are made for special occasions.

Chicken, pork, and fish was not allowed to eat.... Most of upper shimlas brahmin followed these kind of restrictions before 1990's

@@Meat_cooker it depends on the region.... Northern brahmins and dravid brahmins don't eat non veg at all... Tamil brahmin don't even eat onion and garlic... Whereas konkani, bengali, utkala(odia), maithili(bihari) eat fish and mutton.. But mostly fish....

2:21 i had heard this theory in Bengali brahmin family as well. They usually dont eat chicken, basically which has wings but eat fish and mutton.

@@Rmm1236 dharm is a later thing. Food came way before that. The geography of earth is directly dependent on cuisine as well. Even dharm doesn't ban anyone from eating meat.
Don't only read dharam from what you see on WhatsApp and internet, learn something by yourself.
Infact vegetarianism is a thing of luxury which only people who had and still have abundance. The luxury which everyone cannot afford to fulfilling their protein and nutrition.
Vegetarian are ACTUALLY THE SELECTIVE PEOPLE WHO CHOSE TO BE ULTRA WOKE BECAUSE THEY HAD LUXURY.
@@Rmm1236 bengal delta region is very prone to floods. What will brahmins eat if there is no vegetables or lentils around? that's why here in bangladesh all hindu brahmins eat fish but not chicken and mutton.

@@Meat_cookerDude! Many Kashmiri Hindus who converted were from lower castes, along with some Rajputs and Brahmins. However, the majority of Kashmiri Muslims are of Central Asian descent, not from India. They perpetrated violence against various innocent Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, etc., in the name of radical Islam. Additionally, there are still many Kashmiri Pandits who prefer not to eat non-vegetarian food, including my grandmother and sister in my family, as well as my friend's grandparents.

Have u ever meet kashmiri pandit I think no ...they are not pandit by caste they are pandit by title means knowlegble in local kashmiri language they call eachother by " BHAT ". Meat khata they eat meat more than muslims of mainland india . Difference is only they don't eat beef and pork meat ..

They are not that pandit which you see pandits of mandir ...they are pandit by title means knowledge..they call themselves by Bhat not pandit .... title pandit is given by akbar to kashmiri hindus ...not by origin many kashmiri hindus 1000- 1200 years ago were following buddhism also ...so there is lot of going in kashmir history ....kashmir is exception.

@@Meat_cooker it is part of kashmiri culture from past 5000 years and it is been like that may be pork was rear breed in kashmir and I have never seen a pork in kashmir in my life and many kashmiri hindus considered pork dirty because of its habitual nature. So beef and pork is big no from kashmiri hindus .
