When I bought the 390 ADV, I never knew it looked big without accessories. Only after riding it and seeing the heads turn did I realize I bought a baby beast. For me, the 400 to 600 cc segment hits a sweet spot in India. It gives the best of both worlds: commuting and touring. Adventure doesn't just mean off-roading. One reason I might probably even consider buying the 2024 KTM 390 ADV is if they manage to port all the electronics from the 890 platform.

I feel that, in future the bike manufacturers should go the Ducati Hypermotard way where the bike is light weight, aggressive power delivery, long travel soft suspension setup and combination of dirt bike and a naked bike cycle parts. That's the one which will be a winner here in India.

Keerthi Triumph screwed it completely for me in Bangalore, and I ended up buying KTM 390ADV. I do not regret it a bit, though it came at a cost. I would have waited for 400X but thought that the dealership was a problem and it would continue to haunt me post-buying. Trust me, Triumph India is not really concerned about us "customers". I cancelled my booking on 4th Sep (Speed 400) and am still waiting for the refund money. They just don't pick up calls nor revert to emails.
    Nice review.

India has more states than triumph has dealership 😂..
Apart from triumph badge and looks, ktm adv 250 and 390 is better adv bike...
Huge difference in scrambler and offroad adv...
A scrambler is basically for on-road and muddy road.... Looking for offroad adv? Go for himalayan 450/411 and ktm 250/390 any day...
Polarising opinion, RE scram 411 is better offroader than triumph 400x...yes engine is far ahead but it's just raised speed 400...

Wait hasn't triumph opened like 3 to 4 showrooms in Bangalore now? I know that Keerthi triumph is the worst outlet for Triumph to ever exist, but now the newer showrooms are not connected to Keerthi. Guess you didn't want to wait for the showooms to open up to buy a bike.

I even tried to shift my booking from Keerthi to Khivraj, E City, but neither Keerthi, Khivraj or Triumph showed any interest. People at Keerthi do not listen to your point. They were ready to deliver new bikes (booking) earlier than mine, and that pissed me off. They were not doing a favour to anyone, at least not to me. In the end, it is their loss. It may not be of Keerthi, but surely for Triumph.

Don’t play with the stock setup of the wheel size and the break modification, u will never end up with the result and comfort which u r looking out of that mod. Regarding the fuel optimisation , exhaust , air-filter, u can play and settle down but not with the wheels.

Very good comparison but ... wow, you can talk fast, my friend. 🙂. India seems a really great place to ride with those bikes and - for me watching al lot of reviews from India in the last time - a little bit scary too. 🙂 But here we are quite "safety-conscious" (some might say boring) - at least here in Germany. However, I think these "smaller" engines will play a bigger role in the future and seriously, how many riders can really push a 1200cc to its limits? Less power = more fun.

The triumph is ok up to 100 after that it’s really not comfy engine feels stressed though it can still do higher speed while the ktm is crazy happy even at 140, no stress, which make a much better touring machine. Also triumph front suspension front bottoms out way to fast for rough terrain ktm is better there too.

    • @aditya.ishan27

Yup as ktm has 170mm travel and triumph has 150mm, 20mm more travel really helps in situations.
I have a feeling that "if" they launch tiger 400 that would surely have 170mm of travel.
As of now tiger 900 GT and scrambler 1200X too got 170mm of travel.
