A big thumbs up to have the Triumph Scrambler 400 available in the market. It looks good, the specs are nice, the price is reasonable and there's a good dealer network spread around many places on the third rock from the sun. Did I mention that I really love the styling of this bike? And I see that it even includes a step ladder on the left hand side for the passenger to climb onto the bike. I can't imagine spending any money to improve this bike, as it seems to have everything from the factory. Well done Bajaj Auto, it's a great bike!

Comparing it to the Himalayan is incorrect in the first place. This is a Scrambler not an Enduro Tourer.
Technically Triumph has found a niche here. Scram 411 is Air Cooled and though Yezdi Scrambler is Liquid Cooled it is 350cc.
When and if the Triumph Tiger 400 is launched then a direct comparison with the new Himalayan is a must.
Scrambling is also a mountaineering term which means climbing a hill using all four limbs with difficulty.
A Scrambler is basically a middle ground which can offer the best of both worlds, but is not dedicated for one particular thing. Yes it is damn fun to ride though.

    • @BikeWaleOfficial
      @BikeWaleOfficial  9 месяцев назад

We haven’t done a full comparison. Just told you about the aspects where the Scrambler is better than the Himalayan 411.

  • @twowheeledparadox

A gentler rake is what you need like 27 degrees from vertical. Something like 23-25 degrees from vertical is better suited for sport bikes. The 19" front would offset that by increasing the trail. Also, a forward offset of the axle reduces trail. You said it increases it.
In terms of suspension travel, this bike is closer to the 390 Duke than the 390 Adventure. It's even farther from the Himalayan.

Great review. This bike will be a huge success for Triumph. Very sharp midsized bike. It definitely has the looks and technology with its liquid cooled engine and 6 speed transmission. The mag wheel are a great extra too. That likely allows for tubeless tires. Back in the early 70's I owned and rode an air cooled, single cylinder, Triumph Trophy 250. It was old technology and leaked a lot of oil but it didn't prevent me from having a whole lot of fun riding it. It was a pretty bike in its day. I think I still have the original owners manual for that bike. This new model Scrambler is light years ahead of that old 250. It is great to see Triumph bring back the smaller Scrambler. I have always been a Scrambler fan. I currently own and ride a Yamaha SCR950. The Scrambler has always been a really great multipurpose machine.

If you want to do any real dirt riding with anything slightely technical the 400X is going to show it's limits especially with it's limited suspention travel. That being said the 400X makes a better road bike then the 411 and the Himi hand's down but if all of your riding centers on the dirt the 411 and the Himi will do a better job in my opinion.

Is there any chance that Triumph will launch any low height seat as an accessory?

Misleading title - Change that to either Himalayan 411 or scram 411. What is YOUR plan when the Himalayan 452 launches? Take down this video??

I don’t think triumph offers saddle stay for the right side, above the exhaust. That’s a bummer

The Triumph Scrambler is not a serious adventure bike; more for urban posing I reckon.
The tyres are road-biased, the front wheel is too small to cope with muddy gullys and big rocks. The rider's seat looks a bit small and unforgiving, and heaven help the pillion! Looks positively painful.
The front mudguard is too close to the wheel, it will clog at the slightest bit of mud. The bash-plate looks a bit flimsy and what about engine bars? Also, if you want to take it anywhere, where is the luggage equipment going?
I can envisage the new 400 Triumph 'scrambling' for a parking space on Camden High Street, but I reckon it will be a rare sight on anything more than a slightly bumpy farm track.
It looks to me that Triumph want to get into the booming market for mid-capacity, affordable and everday usable bikes, and cash-in on the burgeoning Adventure bike trend that's going on. Fair play.
I just think that the new 400 is a bit of a cop-out for Triumph. John Bloor has done a monumentally good job of reviving the Triumph brand following the whimpering decline of the Meriden days ( I've got one of those).
Triumph is now back as a World player on the motorcycle scene. That makes me very happy. Thank you John.
However, the new 400 range looks like a compromise made in purgatory; it's neither one thing or the other. One frame, one engine the only differences being the suspension and cometics.
I'm going to keep an open mind, I will test ride a Scrambler when I get the opportunity. I think Triumph will sell a whole shed-loads of these bikes, that would be good. However, I don't think it will threaten the market share of the RE Himalyan. Let's wait and see!
    Take care, love and peace.

It is foolish to even compare the Himalayan 452 with the scrambler. They are NOT even in the same category. These media outlets who do are just stoking wrong info. Can the scrambler go off road? Yes BUT light off road only. The Himalayan 452 is further stress tested in leh ladakh and i am sure in worse conditions and will come with spoke tubeless tyres and the color integrated navigation. And shall be built to accommodate offroad panniers and other accessories.

The price seems to be around Rs 10000 from the expected levels. But if someone is really serious on owning a good, proven and allrounder comsidering maneuvering in city driving, long rides and fairly good offroading, one shouldn't get too serious about this price differential (leaving it to indivisual choices, of course)
