- Believe it or not it's hard for me to post something on my website on my You Tube sight or anywhere and not have permission granted to do so I hope I am forgiven, but I was so struck by the message of Adam Clayton Powell Jr. on why you should vote that I cannot resist in sharing this just being one week away from the midterm elections of November 2, 2010. This was from a repeat broadcast by Gill Nobles of "Like It Is" that was originally aired in 1976. What makes this message so powerful is his description of the things that change history and in some cases the way we live today just by looking down and seeing what's in your hand. I hope this November we all use that power that we have and vote. It would be nice to know that the vote we cast will result in the winner we chose an if not don't give up and let's all still work together to make this the greatest country in the world.

I remember this speech from when it was first broadcast. I find it on RUclips very so often and play it. One of the most moving speeches I've ever heard. Each time I play it a tear wells up in my eye.

This kind of oratory and inspiration is rare (if it exists at all) today. Its good for the youth to see this to insire them.
My God My God he gave the possibility of what Black people could accomplish one of the greatest black men who ever lived may God be pleases with his works and grant him permission to enter heaven.
He only lost because he had a long run .. and did a lot for people
The Oratory does exist for our youth; I, Charles Micheaux was inspired by this great speech like no other speech. I am an Orator and I speak at many schools and houses of worship, I also have a program here on RUclips/ The George Washington Carver Society. I close each program with this speech and have done so for the last 22 years.

Thanks for posting this. More items ought to be here on this man. Smart man. Check it out; he filed and got past more legislation than all of his colleagues. That legislation benefited all rather than the few. IT IS TIME FOR ADAM CLAYTON POWELL, JR. to get his just and earned due recognition.
