His mum was the great black virtuoso pianist, Hazel Scott. If you think you are a prodigy search her playing two pianos with speed and accuracy with the same finesse a prodigy can play with just one piano. She should be in the music curriculum for all to see.
Adam Clayton Powell jr. I think was the greatest man America had seen, that is during his day. When during depression, Adam was creating jobs through his church, sewing etc. and then helping wth soup kitchen etc. Creating jobs for AfroAmericans when they were getting marginalised by those in power. He created jobs in Metro, railway and telephone services etc. Also in Congress he passed several bill to become laws , and his record has not yet been beaten by any elected representative. Imagine how good he was. Unfortunately later he was brought down by wine in one hand and women on the other. There is a great lesson , for the present day youth , how one person can bring about the positive change for thousands of human beings, if that desire is in the heart and mind . and then having accomplished it must not become arrogant and take a down hill course by anything negative. One should remain humble throughtout the end. I that is the prescription left by ADAM CLAYTON POWELL jr. for the youth of today.
Adam Clayton Powell jr is one of my heroes. They don't make men like him. What a man. Though I wasn't alive at the time of his death...I benefitted from all the legislation he passed while in office. The causes he fought for and his fighting for Black civil rights... are still benefiting Blacks and other people of color today. I am so appreciative of his son providing history and insight into his father's thinking and accomplishments.
Very nice and needed piece of history. Got the 2002 film on order at the library, and the earlier docu is across the bay at the berkeley library....Also, the al sharpton interview was a very warm take, interesting for both subject and speaker. thanks.
Great men born from "great" mothers. Look up who his mother was. She was if not the greatest pianist ever!!! He was destined for greatness a legacy like his mother pervades your every way of life's learning.
I guess his looks have been taken from his father's genes as his mother, Hazel Scott, the great pianist virtuoso was absolutely gorgeous looking. He could have done with more of her genes and strange as black genes can be more dominant!

Long live democratic socialism and freedom of voluntary segregation
Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Made a difference. He put it on the line.
Genes are a funny thing. I never would have guessed Handsome Adam Clayton Powell and gorgeous Hazel Scott were his parents.
Powell the third is a nice-looking, articulate man. Cut him some slack. He's standing in the shadow of greatness.
Dave Sanders he is anything but nice looking
