This is a continuity error. It was established in earlier seasons that Klaus and Elijah had a fallen out in 1995 when Klaus lied and said he got rid of their sibling, because Mikael had completely vanished and that scared Klaus so he wanted to disappear too.
I guess it was when Bonnie mother took on Michael and he dissappeared after that which terrified Klaus he described that period to Cami that he was scared and lonlier than ever which made him tell Elijah he threw his siblings in the ocean.
