I feel like yes, she loves Elijah, but similar to how Hayley loved him.. he was the knight in shining armor back in the day that helped her escape her family. Now she helped mold him into someone who enjoys the same things that she does, but the real Elijah is still deep inside of there. I can’t help but see this is her loving the dream of who Elijah is... I still think Elijah will remember it all one day and return to his family. Yes they weren’t ideal, but they loved each other in their own way regardless of anything. They even stood by Fin when he died, after everything he’s done..

I know he want to try to aave his family, his niece and his beloved true love hayley for what happen in elijah red doors. And im so disagree with what his done to himself (erase his memories). But until right now, i understand him. Remember when klaus said anything happen to him, elijah have to let him go. I think that's make him start to think to end his memories, because he knew that he can't forgive himself and more worst he blame himself. And he can't handle that pain, so that's why he want to erase it. Klaus is elijah closest sibling from any others. Even they always argue, but they always together. Not mentioned about hayley, he never forgive himself what his done to hayley (hurt her in red doors). That's the strong reason for him to make decisions. And i remember when rebekah asking Elijah what's his happiness. Elijah need free himself, that's why he want to take a break for good to himself. The pain that he hold for many centuries he lives. He patient on it, and watch people his love feels like suffer because of him. He scare. He broke. He lost. He doomed. That's why he chose it. But for all that, i called it stubborn.
