Will Airbus Ever Make An A350neo?

  • It could be argued that the neo (new engine option) line-up of Airbus aircraft - particularly the A320neo family - is one of the best decisions the planemaker has made in its history of building commercial jets. Revising its existing A320 family greatly boosted aircraft efficiency and gave it a competitive edge over Boeing, all without the higher development costs of a clean-sheet design. This strategy was also carried to its older widebody, the A330, although it hasn't seen the same runaway success. Could Airbus one day do this to the A350 and offer an A350neo?

Most people forgot that A350 is actually 10 years old.
You need around 15-20 years for new engines to come around.
That would mean that 2030 would be the minimum timeline for A350NEO.

The ideal solution would be two engines like the A320neo RR which might be RR Ultrafan engine code 4/GE 9x derivative engine code 0. If UA goes for A350neo they'll go for the engine code 0 version in terms of commonality with other Ge engine planes. If it had PW1000G 11xxG then it's engine code 7 making it A350-97xN. A350-87xN A350-107xN. Ge version A350-90xN A350-80xN A350-100xN
