It is shame, that Tamiya decided to stop releasing TRF/ Economical version of Buggies. Instead of this, we have many Re Releases, cheap poor quality cars and strange ideas like TD2/TD4. I am quite new in RC, but I have feeling that Tamiya went into wrong direction around 10 years ago. I am building DB-01 now. It is nice to see how many parts are shared with TRF501X and how good in terms of quality it is, despite model was released 17 years ago. Looking at DN-01/ TRF201X I see that difference is even smaller, which is really cool.
Great video, its nice to see the little differeces between the two. I have a trf 201 vega that im hopefully going to be able to put back to stock and then get it out on track 😎
Nice scores! I picked up a 201 the other day from buyee myself. One of the good things about buying 2nd hand from Japan is that the average Japanese person looks after the things they have, and if it is too tatty they won't sell it as it's embarrassing. Hence anything you do buy 2nd hand is in really good nick. I have a 201-ish project on the go atm so I bought a bunch of spare to use, which was really spendy, then spotted the complete 201 and bought it, and then ripped apart the 201 I already had for parts. Gotta admit to feeling pretty stupid because of that. It was fun to see you in the vids with Keith btw.
This is very true about the Japanese culture. Glad you enjoyed the video. Before you know it, Spring will be here and I'll be back up at Keith's place.
Ok this is nuts i just mentioned haveing a Rc car as A Kid in a conversation with mom didnt mention the model or manufacturer and heres a direct video of the exact one next morning recommendation this is creepy not the video dude you rock i was just gifted a drone my first one and man it brought me back im pritty sure i saved up for the red one yellow stickers i had a dirt road and concreate this thing for a kid was a beast until i got too impatient and burnt out the system running it after it rained would love to find one especially with all the online parts
At the moment, I'm not sure what I'm doing with mine. I have one that is used and will get up and running. Another i'm going to build. The 3rd, i do have plans for....
😀They do look very similar.. now.. put a Kyosho Ultima RB next to it.. then a Tamiya Dyna Storm next to that.. and in the end the Schumacher Cougar.. let just say the 2wd buggy industry started to converge.. I don't even remember which one came first.. probably the Cougar?
I am not sure, if you should think about this like that. There are few companies, which want to design 2WD Buggy. They have engineers who probably think in a similar way. Principles how to design 2WD Buggy are also known, so it is hard to expect very different car.
Great video! Both are great cars. Some of Tamiya’s best 2wd. Looking forward to the build.
Treasure! Awesome , cheers from this Aussie in China!
Super fan here please race the dn01 and the 201.

Wow, that TRF body looks awesome, and to be honest so does the car!!
Thanks for sharing this. I was really curious about the Zahhak!
Amazing video! Some great content here. I have a Zahhak nib but I don’t want to build it until I find another 🇬🇧

In my opinion, the TRF201 looks way better than the Zahhak, even more with the incredible TRF livery that you acquired. Thanks for the comparison 👍🤝
Great 👍 love it. Nice video

The grey tinted plastics most likely mean graphite in the plastic the losi xx and xxx have the same thing
Everytime you say Gareth who collects TRF I keep thinking you are talking about me 😂
😁
Just looks like the spring is missing off the trf car's slipper. Perhaps they made a mod?
Yes you are right and I was thinking that too after the fact...
Hi... I'm looking for one zahhak... Any chance selling 1 to me??
At the moment, I'm not sure what I'm doing with mine. I have one that is used and will get up and running. Another i'm going to build. The 3rd, i do have plans for....
Does attack RC make those bodies themselves?
I believe these are originals.
I never liked these cars strictly because they are such a blatant ripoff of the RC-10 B4. The video was good though.❤
haha... well i was planning on pulling out my B4 and comparing that too... but i'll save it for another time...
