He wasn't even talking about kizaru, probably noticed saturn. If it was kizaru luffy would have flat out said that it was him, he's had more than enough contact with him to recognize him by his "voice."
To me Luffy looking scared last chapter was to show that he is aware that someone strong poses a threat to members of his crew but now he has found the person he was worried about he make sure that Kizaru can’t escape to attack people that are weaker.
Something I don’t see too many people mention is how similar Kizaru’s situation is to Garp’s from the perspective of the everyday citizen. A famous marine is going in solo against an entire evil pirate crew, and has to fight their former student who has betrayed the marines. Maybe they’ll meet the same outcome too.
Not completely Garp was with Koby, Clayman and fodders in a boat on a literally beehive. Kizaru on the other hand pulled up with an whole fleet and now has the pacifistas on his side so the strawhat are in deepshit even if they fend off Kizaru to escape. Hope the grand fleet is coming this time.
I think this arc is meant to be an alternate ending to sabaody, where the straw hats suceed on their mission and to defy the odds and strengthen his emperor title. It would be weird to loose after getting the title.
I'm also seeing really serious parallels to skull Island. Its two admirals (garp is basically an admiral) who have to defeat their former student who they show in a flashback being taught the strongest punch and defense to rescue someone who is according to the newspaper being held hostage on a head shaped Island by a yonko. Garp was one ship facing overwhelming force and luffy is one ship facing overwhelming force. They're like bizarro versions of each other
Seems pretty straight forward atm. Let's say pacifista cleanup vegaforce, seraphim cleanup pacifistas, boa seraphim stones rest of seraphim after elders orders are overriden by luffy. Leaves the rest of navy to take care of for SH's to make their escape. But we know oda brings something unexpected in the middle so let's see how it goes.
As a 20 year fan who doesn't want the series to end: seeing Luffy fight Kizaru on equal footing is unexpectedly emotional. We've been on quite the long road to get here

The way I see it, we actually SAW sentomaru's "strongest defense in the world", in this very chapter. And it wouldn't have been possible without the flashback. Sentomaru was taken by vegapunk as his guard, and that gave sentomaru a reason to live and work hard: the way I see it, he decided to become a shield to protect the ones he loves, making of this his priority in life. To the point of putting that very life on the line to achieve his objective of keeping everyone safe: after all the focus of his brag is on defense, but if he was baselessly bragging of the sake of it why not choose attack instead?! To me that "strongest defense" isn't a statement, but a reminder to himself to be as strong as possible, to give his all, a way to mask his fear of not actually be enough. I would be surprised if he's out for the arc: I think he'll come back at a crucial point for a final act, pushing further than his limits in order to be the best shield he can be. At least, this is the way I like to see it.
I feel this way 100%, the flashback in particular really reminded me of the way young yamato and momonosuke kept repeating that true samurai do never feel hungry/cry, despite visibly being hungry/wanting to cry, because they so bad wanted to be like them. Sentomaru's line is not directed towards the opponent nor the readers but rather to himself
When he comes back, he should regain control of the pacifistas too, unless Saturn takes them. I imagine he'll do something else still, but I would have thought his defense would be more impressive, it's been bragged about for hundreds of chapters, and I was really expecting him to be able to go 100% defense and stop any attacks, but have no way of countering.
It's weird that some fans still think everything characters say is a stated fact, while there's this device called "unreliable narrator". Of course characters would try to intimidate or provoke others while fighting.
Everybody remembers the Zoro promise that he won't ever lose and the Luffy promise that he's done running, but not many people remember the Zoro-Sanji promise. They made a promise that they will fully be able to trust the other in any situation without help on Long Ring Long Land. That's why Sanji doesn't need to get involved with helping Stussy.
I feel like Luffy felt how strong Kizaru was in the last chapter, and at the start of this chapter, Luffy was eating to make sure he had the energy to take him down.
Regardless of the outcome, I just want Kizaru to get a good showing of how strong he is and some more character moments from him -- I truly hope we keep getting glimpses of his deeper personality and history with Vegapunk. Borsalino is my favorite Admiral and I really want to see him doing some really cool stuff. On-screen Logia Awakening, maybe?
I think the reason Luffy looked panicked in the last chapter was just because he knew Kizaru was here, but not where he would go. If Kizaru had gone to the lab where everyone else was, that would have been a huge disaster. Instead he went to Luffy.

Literally been dreaming of this fight between Luffy and Kizaru for years. Similar yet different personalities. Both have great Devil Fruit. Neither likes each other. Should be a banger. I can’t wait to see what happens, and with recent updates in the anime I bet this (eventually) looks great there too.
God of the sun vs. man of light is a fight I was not expecting though when kizaru showed up behind the ship, Retrieve Party luffy was the best person for the job, and it would be very interesting to see if luffy uses gear 5 on kizaru or uses his other forms
It will be amazing if Kizaru all along has the best defense in all of the Marines, since he taught "all that he knows" to Sentomaru. Which leads to Sentomaru competing with his Uncle. This will also be a good approach since Aokiji's flashback shows he has an immense punch power.
@@mza3544I think it was a subtle nod to the fact that, when he knows Zoro and Luffy are going to be taking care of the punch-fighting, Sanji calmly takes care off other threats behind the scenes. I can see Sanji pulling a Gates-of-Justice and being the one to navigate the crew past the blockade.
I think another huge strenght of this chapter was the paneling, it was very easy to read and digest, no cluttering and stuff, very clear. I love that the kizaru vs luffy fight is at a very simple location too. Oda did a great job with all that. Oh actually one thing that was a bit confusing and easy to miss is that Sentomaru actually jumped up to kizaru, when swinging his axe so it was a vertical swing not a horizontal one, the next attack was also mid air right after that as it was called out before the flashback. So kizaru didn't fly up and shoot him, he actually shot him down to the floor. Very quick action sequence, couldve been more clean

In manga there are various types of fights. There are epic showdowns, where the fight was foreshadowed and built up. Like Luffy vs Kaido. To me, Luffy vs Kizaru is gonna be a fight to establish power level. I fully expect that the fight is gonna be interrupted and/or happen/end in ways that are non-violent and unsatisfying. People are gonna be disappointed with the fight for sure cos it's not gonna be a "real fight". But to me, this fight is important to show Luffy's growth post Kaido.
Narratively, it makes the most sense for Luffy to defeat Kizaru here. “Admiral level” is the last long-standing barrier that needs to be smashed through in order to cement the idea that Luffy and the Straw Hats are strong enough to stand on the world stage and fight in the ultimate battle. The warlords have been trivialized, the emperors have been surpassed, so the admirals are the only major threat category left.

Narratively yes, Straw Hats need to exceed Kizaru to reverse parallel Sabaody. But people begging for a mid-diff defeat to show growth are lost... That's what Lucci was for, and it would remove the admirals from being a threat in the final war. Basically relegating them to yonko commander fodder. That would be boring. Unless the idea is the Elders and Imu take the stage as the final marine powers. I don't think so though.
I missed the emperors being surpassed part? It's not like Luffy would have beaten Kaido 1v1 without all the nuance that happened though, so idk if the emporers have been surpassed rather than just.. met on equal grounds.

Kizaru has shown us just how competent he can be in battle, so with not only his crew but also the Vegapunks to worry about, it's not going to be a cakewalk for Luffy. Despite that, I'm sure things will work out. The "Egghead Incident" has to have major ramifications for the rest of the series, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities that the last of the Pre-Timeskip Admirals does indeed fall here.
5:56 Why is it being assumed that Kizaru took Sentoumaru's authority chip? Why wouldn't Kizaru have his own chip, and why would Sentoumaru need a chip?? Sentoumaru is named on the hierarchy, so my thoughts were that the Seraphim and Pacifista are programmed to only require the physical presence of a conscious named superior on the hierarchy to receive orders (which are the Gorousei, the Vegapunks, and Sentoumaru), or can take orders from an authority chip holder who is physically present (they can't take orders over den den mushi). When Lucci attacked Sentoumaru, his objective was to KO him so that they would be able to take command of the Seraphim/Pacifista. That would also explain why the bottom of the hierarchy says "Authority Chip Holders" instead of "Other Authority Chip Holders". I ask this because after being KOed by Kizaru, what if Sentoumaru wakes up and gives a command to the Pacifista? He is superior to authority chip holders in hiearchy after all. Would the Pacifista ignore him because he doesn't have an authority chip?? Also, the animal on the cover page is actually a cheetah.
Honestly Kizaru having future site makes perfect sense for him more than anyone. Moving that fast you have to be able to know what’s coming next. Kinda like how Kakashi got better with Chidori due to the sharingan
It was actually really nice to see Kizaru's character develop over Egghead. He's always been a bit of a mystery Admiral and, seeing him become so sentimental over Sentomaru, even wishing he could add Sentomaru to the list of things that need to be saved on Egghead is a really nice touch.

Which completely ignores the fact that Saturn has been on a ship outside Egghead Island since chapter 1073. Pretty much all context clues point to Kizaru - I'm not saying that makes it definitive, but you gotta have at least some supporting arguments if you wanna go off the beaten path.
I want to point out one thing about Kizaru, his reminiscing may not just be that he failed to capture the Straw Hats but that he also captured over a 100 pirates at that time. Who is to say some of those pirates weren't dangerous during the pre-timeskip era and capturing them made up (even if slightly) for his goof on not capturing the Straw Hats? Also, I cannot wait for the fight to begin between Zoro/Lucci and Luffy/Kizaru. There's going to be some high speed craziness when the anime catches up to these chapters.
Many thought Luffy was scared, however, Luffy has never ever been scared of someone (Except Garp). Instead of "scared" he was shocked/surprised as he thought his plan worked and then suddenly someone strong showed up. From Luffy's perspective, he never saw that coming lol. As we can see from the recent chapter, Luffy's smile is about to reach his eyes, so he wasn't scared whatsoever.

I was always wondering why it’s taken only now for an Elder to come to the lower parts of the world. With Vegapunk’s betrayal, the only one higher in the command of the Seraphim are the Five elders and for them to take back command from their now foe, only they can do it.
Unless it’s just a reverse of Sabaody and the Straw Hats just absolutely no diff Kizaru as a team, this would seriously undermine the crews growth and status at this point in the series. I don’t see a world where Luffy even really needs more than maybe Zoro or Sanjis help with Kizaru, if at all

I think a lot of us got hyped about seeing Sentomaru's "strongest defence" but I think the big difference here is that he himself proclaimed that title whereas Whitebeard or Kaidou were known as "The World's strongest Man" and "The World's strongest creature" respectively by all people and rightfully so.

He has also been one of the few Strawhats besides Luffy to save the crew as a whole. Finally, he has one of the most epic anime/Manga moments still today with "Nothing Happened".
I am actually worried that the battle between Kizaru vs. Luffy might be a case of Luffy winning the battle but losing the war. Of all the admirals Kizaru is the most crafty you can certainly see this in his opposition of Marco, Whitebeard and Luffy at Marineford. If you think about the attacks he did on WB, the shackle team up on Marco or destroying the key Boa Hancock gave Luffy. Everything Kizaru did showed his decisiveness with a mixture of boldness and passiveness. I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy wins the battle but Kizaru ends up killing Punk which he already defined as his core goal.

No because it was the moment kizuru stepped on the island luffy senses him. Greenbull luffy was ready and was confident because he had his squad with him on standby. But the fact that luffy was on standby shows he acknowledged greenbull. He was just happy to see momo defend his land so he laid back.

I think we won't see Kizaru beaten, but we will see him in a stalemate, only for him to be ordered away from the battle. You mentioned multiple threats happening at once, and something to consider with that is that the Marines are trying to defend three objectives. If something is set up that would force Kizaru away to defend those objectives it would give him a reason to disengage with Luffy. What that could be that would occupy Kizaru for a long enough period of time, I'm not sure, but it would let Luffy/Kizaru fight a bit, only for Kizaru to have to pull out without a conclusion because he was ordered elsewhere.

I still think that the fight of the Navy vs the Straw Hats with a fight between Sanji and Kizaru for a leg style combat, a fight between Zoro and Fujitora for a sword style combat, a fight between Jimbei and Greenbull for a sea vs nature type combat and finally Luffy vs Akainu for a battle of revenge for ace seems like a perfect matchups made for a final boss battle. So I feel like Luffy vs Kizaru will be incomplete while I’ll leave the details for Oda Sensei to complete
It’s been nothing but extreme diff fights for luffy the last few arcs would be nice if he is able to at most high diff kizaru and show off how far he’s come power wise.

If the series proved anything is that Admirals are around 1st Yonko commander level and several admirals are needed to defeat a yonko. - Greenbull was "scared" about facing Shanks at the end of Wano - Akainu and Aokiji could not defeat White beard, while Marco could fight against them Also Luffy has to accomplish agreat feat in order to cement himself as a Yonko ... the least he could do is defeating an admiral or even severly wound Saturn! I still believe the Straw Hat Grand fleet will come to the recue and the whole marines present will be defeated including Kizaru, Saturn and all the vice admirals with 30000 troups. Toon logic from Gear 5 opens so many possibilities. For example - making Kizaru stuck between two mirrors forever. Or causing rain by squeezing clouds to turn him into throwable rainbow. So much potential!

While I don't think Kizaru has futuresight capabilities I do think he has the ability to observe at the speed of light. Literally the moment ANYTHING happens he has observed the movement and, being able to move at the speed of light, is able to instantly counter or dodge. This would lead to a calm demeanor as there is literally nothing he cannot see coming, unless said movement is faster than light. That being said he can still be blindsided by an attack too close or quick to dodge perhaps like a lightning strike or an explosion he did not see coming.

No, Kuzan pretty much saved him as well as he could without it looking like he betrayed the navi. Luffy surviving marineford was 1/1000000 luck anyway, if they all really wanted him dead and had him as the #1 priority then the series would have to end there.

What if in the last chapter, luffy wasn't talking about Kizaru wtih the shocked expression, but he meant Saturn, and looked into the future and saw a temporary pacifism, so felt safe, and that's why he was happy and confident to fight Kizaru
Something terrifying to me is that Kizaru didn't show any remorse when he beat Sentamaru. Luffy tends to beat his opponents because they have inferior wills than he does, so Oda showing us how cold hearted he was in dispatching Sentamaru is him saying that Kizarus will and sense of justice is strong, and will not be easily broken.
Kizaru's completely disadvantaged on Egghead Island because there is tech that specifically touches light based things, so even the rest of the crew can potentially join in or maybe one of the Vegapunks. That said I think Kizaru will hold his own, the end goal is to escape there's no benefit to beating him.
The fight will be interrupted and THE STRAWHATS will run away with the original vegapunk while all other vegapunks sacrifice themselves , kizaru vs vegapunks will be the final battle while sentomaru may also go along with Luffy... that's my observational haki
Sentomaru Haki Theory: Haki is directly linked to Willpower. A firm stance that allows its wielder to remain solid. And Sentomaru finds himself essentially having to fight his former allies. He might simply be unable to tap into this "Strongest Defense" he supposedly had prior to this. As an even more extreme example, I am also reminded of Garp during the Paramount War. A lack of conviction can diminish even the strongest fighters.

Something I don’t see too many people mention is how similar Kizaru’s situation is to Garp’s from the perspective of the everyday citizen. A famous marine is going in solo against an entire evil pirate crew, and has to fight their former student who has betrayed the marines. Maybe they’ll meet the same outcome too.

Not completely Garp was with Koby, Clayman and fodders in a boat on a literally beehive. Kizaru on the other hand pulled up with an whole fleet and now has the pacifistas on his side so the strawhat are in deepshit even if they fend off Kizaru to escape. Hope the grand fleet is coming this time.
I think this arc is meant to be an alternate ending to sabaody, where the straw hats suceed on their mission and to defy the odds and strengthen his emperor title.

I'm also seeing really serious parallels to skull Island. Its two admirals (garp is basically an admiral) who have to defeat their former student who they show in a flashback being taught the strongest punch and defense to rescue someone who is according to the newspaper being held hostage on a head shaped Island by a yonko. Garp was one ship facing overwhelming force and luffy is one ship facing overwhelming force. They're like bizarro versions of each other

The way I see it, we actually SAW sentomaru's "strongest defense in the world", in this very chapter. And it wouldn't have been possible without the flashback.
Sentomaru was taken by vegapunk as his guard, and that gave sentomaru a reason to live and work hard: the way I see it, he decided to become a shield to protect the ones he loves, making of this his priority in life. To the point of putting that very life on the line to achieve his objective of keeping everyone safe: after all the focus of his brag is on defense, but if he was baselessly bragging of the sake of it why not choose attack instead?!
To me that "strongest defense" isn't a statement, but a reminder to himself to be as strong as possible, to give his all, a way to mask his fear of not actually be enough.
I would be surprised if he's out for the arc: I think he'll come back at a crucial point for a final act, pushing further than his limits in order to be the best shield he can be.
At least, this is the way I like to see it.
I feel this way 100%, the flashback in particular really reminded me of the way young yamato and momonosuke kept repeating that true samurai do never feel hungry/cry, despite visibly being hungry/wanting to cry, because they so bad wanted to be like them. Sentomaru's line is not directed towards the opponent nor the readers but rather to himself
When he comes back, he should regain control of the pacifistas too, unless Saturn takes them. I imagine he'll do something else still, but I would have thought his defense would be more impressive, it's been bragged about for hundreds of chapters, and I was really expecting him to be able to go 100% defense and stop any attacks, but have no way of countering.
It's weird that some fans still think everything characters say is a stated fact, while there's this device called "unreliable narrator". Of course characters would try to intimidate or provoke others while fighting.
Everybody remembers the Zoro promise that he won't ever lose and the Luffy promise that he's done running, but not many people remember the Zoro-Sanji promise. They made a promise that they will fully be able to trust the other in any situation without help on Long Ring Long Land. That's why Sanji doesn't need to get involved with helping Stussy.

I think the reason Luffy looked panicked in the last chapter was just because he knew Kizaru was here, but not where he would go. If Kizaru had gone to the lab where everyone else was, that would have been a huge disaster. Instead he went to Luffy.

Literally been dreaming of this fight between Luffy and Kizaru for years. Similar yet different personalities. Both have great Devil Fruit. Neither likes each other. Should be a banger. I can’t wait to see what happens, and with recent updates in the anime I bet this (eventually) looks great there too.
God of the sun vs. man of light is a fight I was not expecting though when kizaru showed up behind the ship, Retrieve Party luffy was the best person for the job, and it would be very interesting to see if luffy uses gear 5 on kizaru or uses his other forms
It will be amazing if Kizaru all along has the best defense in all of the Marines, since he taught "all that he knows" to Sentomaru. Which leads to Sentomaru competing with his Uncle. This will also be a good approach since Aokiji's flashback shows he has an immense punch power.
I think Oda purposefully created that Sanji scene using a bubble pistol to remind us of Sanji's first version when he was a sharpshooter

I think another huge strenght of this chapter was the paneling, it was very easy to read and digest, no cluttering and stuff, very clear. I love that the kizaru vs luffy fight is at a very simple location too. Oda did a great job with all that.
Oh actually one thing that was a bit confusing and easy to miss is that Sentomaru actually jumped up to kizaru, when swinging his axe so it was a vertical swing not a horizontal one, the next attack was also mid air right after that as it was called out before the flashback. So kizaru didn't fly up and shoot him, he actually shot him down to the floor. Very quick action sequence, couldve been more clean

In manga there are various types of fights. There are epic showdowns, where the fight was foreshadowed and built up. Like Luffy vs Kaido. To me, Luffy vs Kizaru is gonna be a fight to establish power level. I fully expect that the fight is gonna be interrupted and/or happen/end in ways that are non-violent and unsatisfying. People are gonna be disappointed with the fight for sure cos it's not gonna be a "real fight". But to me, this fight is important to show Luffy's growth post Kaido.

Narratively, it makes the most sense for Luffy to defeat Kizaru here. “Admiral level” is the last long-standing barrier that needs to be smashed through in order to cement the idea that Luffy and the Straw Hats are strong enough to stand on the world stage and fight in the ultimate battle. The warlords have been trivialized, the emperors have been surpassed, so the admirals are the only major threat category left.
Agreed, even though I think the emperors ought to be stronger since they stand alone and don’t have the backing of the world government. I’m kinda hoping for a more casual W to show the gap, but then come to realize it’s not just one admiral, it’s the whole thing they got to fight
Narratively yes, Straw Hats need to exceed Kizaru to reverse parallel Sabaody. But people begging for a mid-diff defeat to show growth are lost... That's what Lucci was for, and it would remove the admirals from being a threat in the final war. Basically relegating them to yonko commander fodder. That would be boring. Unless the idea is the Elders and Imu take the stage as the final marine powers. I don't think so though.
I missed the emperors being surpassed part? It's not like Luffy would have beaten Kaido 1v1 without all the nuance that happened though, so idk if the emporers have been surpassed rather than just.. met on equal grounds.

Luffy kicking Kizaru and even catching Kizaru slightly off-guard by closing the distance in an instant and kicking him in Gear2 was so awesome.
Kizaru has shown us just how competent he can be in battle, so with not only his crew but also the Vegapunks to worry about, it's not going to be a cakewalk for Luffy. Despite that, I'm sure things will work out. The "Egghead Incident" has to have major ramifications for the rest of the series, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities that the last of the Pre-Timeskip Admirals does indeed fall here.

5:56 Why is it being assumed that Kizaru took Sentoumaru's authority chip? Why wouldn't Kizaru have his own chip, and why would Sentoumaru need a chip?? Sentoumaru is named on the hierarchy, so my thoughts were that the Seraphim and Pacifista are programmed to only require the physical presence of a conscious named superior on the hierarchy to receive orders (which are the Gorousei, the Vegapunks, and Sentoumaru), or can take orders from an authority chip holder who is physically present (they can't take orders over den den mushi). When Lucci attacked Sentoumaru, his objective was to KO him so that they would be able to take command of the Seraphim/Pacifista. That would also explain why the bottom of the hierarchy says "Authority Chip Holders" instead of "Other Authority Chip Holders". I ask this because after being KOed by Kizaru, what if Sentoumaru wakes up and gives a command to the Pacifista? He is superior to authority chip holders in hiearchy after all. Would the Pacifista ignore him because he doesn't have an authority chip??

It was actually really nice to see Kizaru's character develop over Egghead. He's always been a bit of a mystery Admiral and, seeing him become so sentimental over Sentomaru, even wishing he could add Sentomaru to the list of things that need to be saved on Egghead is a really nice touch.

Which completely ignores the fact that Saturn has been on a ship outside Egghead Island since chapter 1073. Pretty much all context clues point to Kizaru - I'm not saying that makes it definitive, but you gotta have at least some supporting arguments if you wanna go off the beaten path.

I want to point out one thing about Kizaru, his reminiscing may not just be that he failed to capture the Straw Hats but that he also captured over a 100 pirates at that time. Who is to say some of those pirates weren't dangerous during the pre-timeskip era and capturing them made up (even if slightly) for his goof on not capturing the Straw Hats?
Also, I cannot wait for the fight to begin between Zoro/Lucci and Luffy/Kizaru. There's going to be some high speed craziness when the anime catches up to these chapters.

Many thought Luffy was scared, however, Luffy has never ever been scared of someone (Except Garp). Instead of "scared" he was shocked/surprised as he thought his plan worked and then suddenly someone strong showed up. From Luffy's perspective, he never saw that coming lol.
As we can see from the recent chapter, Luffy's smile is about to reach his eyes, so he wasn't scared whatsoever.

It's been like 12 in world hours since our last Kuma update, he could arrive any minute to send Kizaru away himself.
I think a lot of us got hyped about seeing Sentomaru's "strongest defence" but I think the big difference here is that he himself proclaimed that title whereas Whitebeard or Kaidou were known as "The World's strongest Man" and "The World's strongest creature" respectively by all people and rightfully so.
Zoro... just shows us once more how well written he is with but one line.

I am actually worried that the battle between Kizaru vs. Luffy might be a case of Luffy winning the battle but losing the war. Of all the admirals Kizaru is the most crafty you can certainly see this in his opposition of Marco, Whitebeard and Luffy at Marineford. If you think about the attacks he did on WB, the shackle team up on Marco or destroying the key Boa Hancock gave Luffy. Everything Kizaru did showed his decisiveness with a mixture of boldness and passiveness. I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy wins the battle but Kizaru ends up killing Punk which he already defined as his core goal.

I don't think Luffy was talking about Kizaru. He was not at all concerned about Green Bull. I think he sensed the Gorosei.
No because it was the moment kizuru stepped on the island luffy senses him. Greenbull luffy was ready and was confident because he had his squad with him on standby. But the fact that luffy was on standby shows he acknowledged greenbull. He was just happy to see momo defend his land so he laid back.

I think we won't see Kizaru beaten, but we will see him in a stalemate, only for him to be ordered away from the battle. You mentioned multiple threats happening at once, and something to consider with that is that the Marines are trying to defend three objectives. If something is set up that would force Kizaru away to defend those objectives it would give him a reason to disengage with Luffy. What that could be that would occupy Kizaru for a long enough period of time, I'm not sure, but it would let Luffy/Kizaru fight a bit, only for Kizaru to have to pull out without a conclusion because he was ordered elsewhere.
I can't wait to see the look on Kizaru's face when Luffy bend his laser beam.

I still think that the fight of the Navy vs the Straw Hats with a fight between Sanji and Kizaru for a leg style combat, a fight between Zoro and Fujitora for a sword style combat, a fight between Jimbei and Greenbull for a sea vs nature type combat and finally Luffy vs Akainu for a battle of revenge for ace seems like a perfect matchups made for a final boss battle. So I feel like Luffy vs Kizaru will be incomplete while I’ll leave the details for Oda Sensei to complete

It’s been nothing but extreme diff fights for luffy the last few arcs would be nice if he is able to at most high diff kizaru and show off how far he’s come power wise.

I honestly don’t see Luffy wining against ADMIRAL KIZARU, but I can see him keeping him busy long enough for a few important things to happen in the storyline. But, I don’t mind been proven wrong!! Gear 5 really is such a game changer!
Why? If the series proved anything is that Admirals are around 1st Yonko commander level and several admirals are needed to defeat a yonko.
- Greenbull was "scared" about facing Shanks at the end of Wano
- Akainu and Aokiji could not defeat White beard, while Marco could fight against them
Also Luffy has to accomplish agreat feat in order to cement himself as a Yonko ... the least he could do is defeating an admiral or even severly wound Saturn! I still believe the Straw Hat Grand fleet will come to the recue and the whole marines present will be defeated including Kizaru, Saturn and all the vice admirals with 30000 troups. Each fleet commander will probably take on a vice admiral
Toon logic from Gear 5 opens so many possibilities. For example - making Kizaru stuck between two mirrors forever. Or causing rain by squeezing clouds to turn him into throwable rainbow. So much potential!

I don't think it was Kizaru whose power Luffy sensed. I think it was Saturn. Hence why Luffy went to face Kizaru without hesitation despite looking so concerned about someone strong showing up.

I don't say he feared Kizaru, but was clearly shocked. He didn't know someone strong is coming to the island. Context matters, so Luffy not being shocked by 2 yonkos is obviously because he was literally about to fight them and knew they were there, meanwhile he didn't know Kizaru is there.
Also that argument makes even less sense towards Saturn than towards Kizaru, unless you think Saturn is stronger than 2 yonkos, but that would mean fodder injured Sabo escaped from 5 people equivalent to 10 yonkos lmao.

While I don't think Kizaru has futuresight capabilities I do think he has the ability to observe at the speed of light. Literally the moment ANYTHING happens he has observed the movement and, being able to move at the speed of light, is able to instantly counter or dodge. This would lead to a calm demeanor as there is literally nothing he cannot see coming, unless said movement is faster than light. That being said he can still be blindsided by an attack too close or quick to dodge perhaps like a lightning strike or an explosion he did not see coming.

No, Kuzan pretty much saved him as well as he could without it looking like he betrayed the navi. Luffy surviving marineford was 1/1000000 luck anyway, if they all really wanted him dead and had him as the #1 priority then the series would have to end there.

Something terrifying to me is that Kizaru didn't show any remorse when he beat Sentamaru. Luffy tends to beat his opponents because they have inferior wills than he does, so Oda showing us how cold hearted he was in dispatching Sentamaru is him saying that Kizarus will and sense of justice is strong, and will not be easily broken.
Kizaru's completely disadvantaged on Egghead Island because there is tech that specifically touches light based things, so even the rest of the crew can potentially join in or maybe one of the Vegapunks.
That said I think Kizaru will hold his own, the end goal is to escape there's no benefit to beating him.
